Good Wednesday, Amanda and all!!!
Ken is playing a string version of "Germ Free Adolescents" that would fit nicely as a Scenario in-theme.

Hello back, Amanda. Good afternoon to you.

Hi Stevel!

Is there any connection between the Queers and the Muffs? (Other than both being Michael Shelley faves.) Because this would sound delightful as a Muffs cut.

BTW, Amanda, every time I saw the monorail in Las Vegas last month, I thought of (and often started singing) the Lyle Lanley "Monorail" song.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
Jeff Golick:

I came up with a sniglet a while back -- zenvy: achieving a state of perfect envy.

There's probably been a lot of parallel evolution on that one, I suspect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
listener james from westwood:

Ep probably has the 2nd best callback besides the ambulance gag in the Much Apu ep: The slam cut to the nuclear technicians reappearing after Homer fucks up the experiment in class.
Homer: "In there."
Techs: "Thanks, Homer!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
listener james from westwood:

@Skirkie, I almost choked laughing when I saw "Wallet inspector!" Well done!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
Jeff Golick:

That list of book titles -- ...Son of Sniglet... etc. -- so good. I love that kind of list. Reminds me of one of the Halloween eps with an evil leprechaun, and Bart's pulling various critters out of a hole in the ground:
"...goblin?"
"No."
"Hobgoblin?"
"No."

Josh:

I meant the Cool Dean, dammit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Amanda:

They do sniglets in the NYT magazine now! They don't call them that, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Jeff Golick:

I think the show Community has some with the "cool dean" trope...either that, or I'm confusing it with some other show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm

I hate that page of the NYT mag. The one-page mag.? It should be on the Meh List every week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
Amanda:

Agreed, Jeff -- calling things "meh" is meh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Amanda:

Hi UM and nanantatee! Glad you liked the Hurley. @Skirkie -- Wow, I can't BELIEVE that worked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
listener james from westwood:

"Hey, that's not the wallet inspector!"
Avatar 1:31pm
nanantatee:

yes, especially when the english language contains a veritable rainbow of the many shades of "meh" banal, mediocre, underwhelming, trite, platitudinous, vapid, commonplace, ordinary, common, stock, conventional, stereotyped, overused, overdone, overworked, stale, worn out, timeworn, tired, just to name a few

Rich Hall should be a billionaire off of sniglet royalties by now.

Btw the most successful sniglet of all time, hands down, is "spork"

Amanda:

The pitch on Turntable 1 was at -8 until now!!!! Sorry, everyone. I did think a few records sounded a bit slow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm

IIRC "meh" is actually attributed to "The Simpsons."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
Jeff Golick:

From wiki, on meh:

Meh's popularity surged after its use on The Simpsons.[8][1] It was first used in the 1994 episode "Sideshow Bob Roberts",[1] when a librarian reacts to Lisa's surprise that voting records are not classified. It also appeared later in "Lisa's Wedding" after Marge weaves "Hi Bart" on a loom to try to pique her son's interest in weaving, to which he responds "meh". In the 2001 episode "Hungry, Hungry Homer", Lisa spells out the word for emphasis ("M-E-H"), after Homer tries to interest her (Lisa) and Bart into going to the theme park "Blockoland".
