Is The National the most over-hyped crappy band in the universe right now?
Avatar 3:46pm
glenn:

nope. it's gotta be mumford and sons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm

Oh, at least Mumford and Sons has the sense to make the occasional excellent video. The National doesn't even have that.

I'm more and more convinced that the gif is of Pennywise, and thus I'm trying to avoid looking at it, since I'm expecting it to come to life any moment. Thankfully, "Galaxy Quest" is on tv, so I have a welcome distraction (along with the music, of course).

@DCE: I don't know the band, but I did see Kronos perform one of these compositions. There was a pop side to it that wasn't bad in that setting, but it was nothing to write home about. I think Kronos have made much better choices when it comes to young composers

@glenn: I feel like the bigger a nerd you are, the funnier you find the movie. It's funny on its own, but all the obscure and not-so-obscure genre references heighten the hilarity. Thus, as a giant geek, I laugh myself silly every time I watch.

@glenn: the double act of Sam Rockwell and permanently stoned Tony Shalhoub produces the best moments to me. Although the entire "stompers" conversation is the highlight of the film.

yakisoba is just fried soba noodles. I usually add veggies like baby bok choi, etc, and create a sauce from scratch. There are instant versions, or you can just get raw soba noodles and do it yourself. (just realized I only have spanish onions and jalapenos for my veggie choices, whoops).
