apart from the disadvantage of looking like Monks the guys seemed to have had the party of their lives! They toured the South-German GI-circuit mainly. Often enough the spectators didn't even get that they were witnessing avanguarde.

In a Steve McQuenn docu it was said the car chase seens in Bullitt were the real thing at original locations. They didn't bother with permissions, if any given expecting it would all become all too expensive.

But pretty often the old "Original Soundtracks" are re-recordings as well, for the home stereo and with aditional vocal versions.

Saw the car chase in The Seven-Ups recently, and noted that the goosed car sounds were way incongruous with what Roy Scheider was driving. Just found a note that claims Bullitt car sounds were re-used for it.

Often enough re-recordings are the only way to get the music decently withoud sound effects. But i would always prefer the original if there is one existing, even if the master himself conducts. the original vintage studio sound, the real mood of the time period.
