  9:14am jeff g on-the-go:

I can't stand a certain use of "grow" -- e.g., "Doug, how do you plan to grow this Artisanal Empowerment company?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Uncle Michael:

I mis-pelled schmaltzopolypse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Alex In Illinois:

For me, it is not so much the words themselves, as their misuse. People should learn the meaning of the word "penultimate" before using it. The word "invite" is a verb, not a noun. The noun is "invitation". "Fail" is a verb, not a noun. The noun is "Failure". "Bad" is adjective, not a noun. "Fault" or "mistake" are the nouns that should follow the word "my" when admitting culpability.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Uncle Michael:

schmaltz-pacolypse?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Gary:

Deliverables. Around that. Socialize. Circle back to. Leverage. Constituents. Professionalism. I can think of two, three dozen other words and phrases that make me cringe whenever my co-workers (or I) write or say them, but it's a day off for me and I'd rather think about other things. Like the earth covered in bacon fat

A.J. came on Pittsburgh sports radio promising it was the Pirates or retirement. I'm not going after the biggest contract, he said, that's not what I'm about.

He was fine for the Pirates when the Yankees were still paying most of his salary. Philly will learn to revile him.

There is a huge pothole (crater) on our street just a few feet from where I park right in front of our house. The driver's side of our car gets Jackson Pollocked every day with the salty-sandy slush that cars splash onto it when they hit the pothole. I literally have to wash down the side window to see out of it. It was amusing for the first few days. Now I just cry inside. (Of course, I could park somewhere else, but NO!)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Alex In Illinois:

I rent a parking space in a lot accross the street from and 100 feet East of my building. I always park in the same spot on the end, which I have shovelled a few times. I do not mind if someone uses the space while I am away at work (some peple have 12 hour day permits), so that is why I am reluctant to guard it with furniture, machinery or animals or other barricades. Also, if someone uses it while I am away, that will keep new snow from falling on it. I just wish there were a way to make sure it is clear when I get home.
Avatar 10:55am glenn:

Friend of mine is going to be the facilitator for a committee that'll draft an ordinance to keep tar sands out of a neighboring town. All those seats may be hot, and hammer bait.

jeezuz, wasn;t there just another derailment in w. pa.? vandergrift, pa, was it? (i only remember b/c a guy involved in the early oil trade had that name; town may have been named after him.)
Avatar 11:13am ndbob:

@Doug working it is:)

@gary, most of them are new to me, so they're always a treat. heard part of the north korea one recently after a long time of it not popping up on fmu. it is so strange.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Hugo:

Still very much enjoying the very first Sublime Frequencies release - from Sumatra. This must be new?

Forget global warming, there is still lack of water and food in Africa. Love those unelected leaders over there. And Zimbabwe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am Doug Schulkind:

@LJFW
Yup, Vandergrift, wherever that is.
Avatar 11:14am ndbob:

I have a bunch of them - not this though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Doug Schulkind:

The blog page where I grabbed this Hassaniya Music comp is no longer available. Otherwise, I would send you there.
Avatar 11:18am earrie:

Emphasizing the risk/fear of derailments happens to be a convenient narrative for those invested in oil. The time scales of those perspectives are on the order more like that of insects.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:31am listener james from westwood:

considering the # of chemical and petro plants NJ has, it's not as much a matter of time as it is a surprise that we also haven't had an incident along these lines.
Avatar 11:31am ndbob:

@earrie indeed - no apologies needed from anyone
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:32am listener james from westwood:

not that we need another superfund site. shit, bergen county alone is a nightmare, from the old ford plant in mahwah thru the remedied thorium spill in maywood to the tainted banks of the passaic.

@earrie, your frustration is justified and shared.

if I may make a point about fracking and Wester PAers--my wife is from western PA and even the republicans we know back in Johnstown are starting to put up anti-fracking signs in their yards.

I'm scared about the concept of fracking, even though I don't know the science (or lack of it) behind it. Blowing up our planet piece by piece?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Doug Schulkind:

@pacific standard simon
Welcome aboard. I will give you a private replay of the first two and half hours.

@at cpd
That is surprising to me. No one can run for office around here, including the progressive Democrats, without supporting fracking and the energy companies wholeheartedly.
Avatar 11:40am still b/p:

Would that be included in the big downloadable collection of Stax singles you pointed us to a few years ago? I made a couple of CDs from that bunch, but never unpacked the rest.
Avatar 11:41am fleep:

Oh, what's a random earthquake now and then, happens here all the time.
Avatar 11:41am ndbob:

@b/p It should be - there were two of those collections
Avatar 11:42am at cpd:

I know, Doug, but I think the winds are shifting. My republican brother-in-law specifically mentioned not voting for anyone who supported fracking. Course he's not the most conservative guy on earth but still...

These love songs remind me. This morning when I got to my car, and I saw a an envelope under the wiper. First, I thought it was a ticket because I have not yet updated the sticker on my license plate. I cussed, then grabbed it and realized that it was not orange but red. My wife put it there when she was walking the dog a little earlier. Still, I will put the new sticker on tonight.

Speaking of earthquakes -- the warm-up and wind are causing ice and snow to come off the roof, hitting and rattling loudly on the side of the house and the deck. Need a helmet when I step out maybe.
