Hello, Scott! It's always nice to see you around

As much as I love Dan's show, I am really looking forward to this show. Checked out some of your recent playlists and I really like a lot of the artists that you regularly play: Body/Head, Wooden Shjips, Cian Nugent, etc. etc. You even throw in some great dub stuff. Very cool.

So I heard the rumor that in 2014 the day will be officially expanded to 36 hours just to accommodate all the goodies WFMU has to offer to its listeners

...oh yeah - this is from 'How Long Has Trane Been Gone' - ? It's been posited that 'Alabama' is measure-for-measure from King's speech...

- seems evident that it was - just as Trane did for his own text for 'Love Supreme'. Well - I'm alone - but not a dry eye in my house...

Yes those "songs" are considered a form of culture, transmitted from generation to generation, and they change over time.

There were a lot of musical performances that day, before King spoke. Tryin to remember if Sister Rosetta was there

Whale songs aren't what they used to be, they use a lot of autotuna now.

Just listening to this great show without reading playlist and had to find out who was playing because I thought I had heard that sound live.
Wow, even today those times of hearing Dewey Redman play resonate. Once, I was the live in baby sitter or child care person, whatever, for an artist's children and Dewey practiced in the loft. Whoa and now I am reminiscing- Also, David Murray, Chico Freeman and others rehearsing. Such a fantastic experience for a new to nyc teen.
And along the way met & heard Charlemagne and other composers and artists. Sort of just fell into it...looking for something better than rural suburbia
