rrg...I can certainly claim it. It was a great time in my life. My show played a lot of follk and commentary, including Dylan, others much more obscure and the great Phil Ochs whose song "Changes" I took as my theme. I was one of the few women on the station at the time. It changed drastically around 1972 and I graduated Upsala anyway. Came back later to teach there and run the Learning Center until it closed. Happily WFMU lives; it is my main radio station.

This is the first Iris Dement song I ever heard twenty something years ago and it melted my heart. What a great choice to play Irwin. Thanks for the memories!

this and a childs song and driving wheel are just stellar.

Speaking of unusual voices, you could play Jimmie Dale Gilmore sometime... "Midnight Train" from the album "After Awhile" for instance.

I've clicky-starred the Rush, because it really is a favorite, but I agree that the DeMent was wonderful.

There you go again, Irwin. You won't play Joni's version of this song (perhaps my favorite recording of hers) but you keep playing Tom Rush's version. Which I also like. But, well.

what does clicky starring do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm

It means people can see what you clicky-starred.

Iris opened for Nanci Griffith. On whom I've soured for some reason.

I need to introspect about that.

Mike East:

the only function it serves (as far as I can tell) is that if you hear a song you like, you click a star. Then when you want to remember what songs you heard and liked, you can go back and see. When you click on the songs in your clicky catalogue, it links you back to the playlist where you found them and you can easily play that track in the archive, as long as its time stamped.

Neil Dick snapped me back from the Tom Rush revery. What a segue!
