I don't remember hearing this when I was in the FFA (1977-1980). The album Ecstasy came out in 2000, per my Google search, so that explains that.

@ RevRabbit 12:06: I sure wouldn't. Can't say exactly how different I'd be, but pretty damn different. So would New York be, or at least the parts of it that I came to be a part of. When you think about all the other things that have influenced us, which would have been non-existent or fundamentally different if there had been no Lou -- well, whew.

My only live Lou show was fairly flat -- '76 or '77, I think. Him in a spotlight, band in just the dim spill for the duration. No effort to be engaged with the audience on any channel, and not taken to any apparent place by his own material...perhaps his standard brand of cool.

@Cecile - Yes, I was in 4-H from third to eighth grade. Our county even had a 4-H camp during the summer. The canoeing was the funnest part.

@cecile and ken - my wife's youngest brother got really involved in 4-H when the family moved from the Detroit burbs to the sticks of West Michigan. Now he's in his mid 20s working quite successfully in agriculture.

I give the VU and Another View outtakes records equal value as the 4 proper albums. The live records too. There's just so much great music to absorb from the Velvets.

re: VU "Loaded" -- Has it ever been pointed out ust who played drums on specific tracks? Billy Yule and Adrian Barber (of all people!) are listed as playing on the sessions but not the specific tracks, correct?

Tim- yes! I think the outtakes records and the live records are the best showcase of the VU as a killer rock & roll band.
