@Bliss: No, it's how I was called "a pedant" for reminding an on-air personality that it is "I could NOT care less." The lazy way it's too often said doesn't even make sense, fercrimminy. "It seems to me that our three basic needs, for food and security and love, are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and warmth and the love of it and the hunger for it… and then the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger satisfied… and it is all one."

Schrödinger's cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects, resulting in a contradiction with common sense. The scenario presents a cat that may be both alive and dead, depending on an earlier random event. Although the original "experiment" was imaginary, similar principles have been researched and used in practical applications. The thought experiment is also often featured in theoretical discussions of the interpretations of quantum mechanics.

Cool, and thanks for the answers. I totally stumbled into it during a visit to NYC. A friend showed me the BBS his was a sysop for, gave me a WATS # and explained how to log in. So out in L.A. I was interacting with NYers and discussing, films, literature, music, etc. The more things change ...

Keep digging around in that Negativland archive; you might find me calling in to Ken's Last Ever from 1989.

Speaking of Negativland, just saw these guys last night : tinyurl.com...

Highly recommended if they stop by your town....

Anyone else hear how Friend & Lover's"Reach Out of The Darkness" (1968) has been co-opted for some TV commercial? At least it reminded me of what a groovy song it is.

I miss when sampling was transformative and had a sense of humor. Negativland is underrated.

Why am I sorting Canadian coins?

Canada has a 2 dollar coin made from 2 different metals, like the Euro.

kat, I started on BBSs around 1983, graduated to the chat rooms operated on an Apple ][ with 6 modems in it, to MUDs, and so on. I know Listener G is also an online dinosaur.

Is there really going to be an entire second set of unrelated comments alongside PSS and fleep and me?
I'd check, but the "regular" time conflicts with my appointment with Dr. Chusid.

Droll, your comments now may very well be timeshifted into the comments made tomorrow.

@Droll: Quite the opposite. I knew FB would never be my cup of tea even before all the privacy concerns arose. And Twitter, well it would fit like a glove for my many original aphorisms, but that's why I don't open an account. It's my gift to myself of extra time. :)

And droll you should ask since just this morning I decided to do a search on kat330 -- wondering if someone out there was pretending to be me and being all nasty-ass creating the reception I seem to get lately around these parts. Found there ARE other kat330's -- one whose real name is apparently Karen Theise or somesuch, and another who uses kitkat330 and promotes products and stupid videos.
I'm ONLY on Tumblr, Bandcamp and SoundCloud. Accept no imposters! :)

kat, Ditto -- I don't touch any of that stuff. No good comes from FB!

The problem with 1 billion user accounts is even the odd names are taken. I own my name as a .com domain, another benefit of early adoption/protection.
