Haha! I went to a previous NYPL record sale. It was back when the Library was moving its audio records from the Donnell branch up to Lincoln Center. Ohmigod did I score some gems at that sale!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Doug Schulkind:

No, Artie, New Marble Rye: www.dorsisbakery.com...
Avatar 5:45pm glenn:

sorry. caraway rye is the ONLY rye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Calm down, glenn. You always get so caraway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Jeff Golick:

I'm planning to cash and caraway many LPs....
Avatar 5:47pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Doug Schulkind:

@glenn
To work with falcons, you must have abundant talont.
Avatar 5:54pm glenn:

oooooh. and people tell me i make bad puns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Gary:

Hi Doug!
Avatar 5:55pm glenn:

at what point does a claw become a talon, by the way?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi Gary!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:03pm listener james from westwood:

evenin', mornin', or afternoon, all!
Avatar 6:04pm northguineahills:

What other record labels are named after squares in NYC, besides Chatham Sq?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:04pm listener james from westwood:

that marble rye is suffering from an extreme reuben deficiency.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

You're A-OK, LJFW & NGH!
Avatar 6:08pm northguineahills:

Now I'm gonna have to find some corn whiskey after work.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:10pm listener james from westwood:

what's this "after" crap? :D
Avatar 6:14pm northguineahills:

Only allowed scotch during work...(and buh-ear).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Doug Schulkind:

Apologies in advance for the starkly racist lyrics in this song.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:18pm listener james from westwood:

an occupational hazard of our early recorded history. i remember hearing the original version of "turkey in the straw" on mac's show once. fortunately the floor broke my jaw's fall.
Avatar 6:22pm Holly in NC:

Hi Doug & all!

@Artie - Go, Asheville! Did you see - 10,000 people showed up for 1st roaming Moral Monday.

@all Reuben fans - caraway is key - but I've found that the bread itself, not so much! I've been making kickass Rachels (sadly don't have a source for reasonably priced good corned beef) by adding caraway (& ample amounts of butter) to Ba Tempe kraut, layering w. good pastrami, swiss, homemade 1000 island, then heating & eating. Also throw in some cumin seeds for fun.

Tonight, however, being Tuesday = Porchetta for dinner ! Have missed last 3 weeks, am jonesing. Getting ready to leave for truck now. Unreasonably excited, almost twitching.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Doug Schulkind:

Oh Holly Holly Holly!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:25pm listener james from westwood:

rachels are also quite excellent! a place 'round the corner from me does reubens and rachels passably well for a non-deli source.
Avatar 6:27pm hyde:

rats, I missed half of the Tompkins Square show!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 6:27pm listener james from westwood:

doug, that bakery page you linked to lists marble ryes, babkas, and black-and-white cookies. the seinfeld trifecta of nyc-area baked goods.
  6:28pm Christopher in Chinatown:

Doug, I like where you're going with these guitar instrumentals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Doug Schulkind:

@hyde
At least you caught the ...kins Square portion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Doug Schulkind:

Stick with me, Christopher in Chinatown, and we'll go nowhere fast.
Avatar 6:31pm hyde:

@Doug I'll go back for the Tomp later. (my excuse is I was spacing out and listening to the new Indianapolis country blues I got from Blue Eye.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Doug Schulkind:

Listening to Naptown blues, eh, hyde. I could use a naptown myself.
Avatar 6:32pm Holly in NC:

I adore the Lena Hughes lp.
I also REALLY like Daniel Bachman, Doug, are you going to play?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Play the Bachman, you mean? Why SURE!
Avatar 6:35pm Holly in NC:

That would be a yes. Porchetta can wait. xoxox
Avatar 6:37pm hyde:

@Holly @Doug the Bachman is aces.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Porchetta makes me think of bruschetta or maybe pancetta. Either way, it gives me the hongries.
Avatar 6:39pm Holly in NC:

@Doug, OK as long as you're not waiting in someone's welfare line!
  6:39pm Christopher in Chinatown:

very much enjoying this leisurely cruise doug.
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

I faved that Daniel Bachman on John Allen's show on Feb 13th.
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

When I get home, it'll be time for more curry pie I baked this weekend. Yum!
Avatar 6:44pm hyde:

@ngh ooooh, I missed that. Thanks for the tip.
