Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

@Brian: Being a geographer, I had discovered it quite by accident while looking at elevation data. Seeing the very high elevations on that steppe drop down to below sea level, I had to look up just what was at those coordinates. Boy was I wowed!
Peter Green Manalishi! Or, probably Post-Peter Green Manalishi...

@Alex I remember riding that train from LA to Denver in '63 -- it made a big impression on a wee lad.

Love Roy Harper in general, but Irwin once played this whole 20 min track to open the show, amazing critique of virtually everything in '69 society.

I first heard of that from Clay Pigeon and some other FMU personalities, bought the CD online and was pleased by what I heard. Didn't find its audience in '69, but good to know it is appreciated more each year.

But GILG I heard about from Clay P.
Now, Bob Gaudio's "Watertown" I haven't heard, but I like Jake Holmes so I'd give that a try.
