Libby Holman  House Of The Rising Sun (live 1940s)   Favoriting Libby Holman's musical style changed in the 1940s when she teamed up with Josh White and began to study a repertoire of what she would call 'Americana' - namely Blues, Spirituals, and Folk Songs.

Actively involved in supporting the Civil Rights Movement, Holman & White were turned away from entertaining the troops overseas during WWII as the USO did not accept 'racially mixed shows.' Instead they went on the road to perform in nightclubs.

Libby Holman would eventually self-produce a one woman revue, Blues, Ballads and Sin Songs which she performed in 1954.

and especially fireworks. It's really hard to get fireworks in Australia these days unless you have a permit.

Not much in winter. :-( What do people in other countries eat at BBQs? Do you have sausages and put them inside normal sliced bread or make proper hot dogs?

I spent 6 months in London and only went to one BBQ, I think. Can't remember what I ate (it was in 2000).

Australians are too lazy/innovative to bother with proper hot dogs. Usually just do this: aka.weightwatchers.com.au...

I get a chuckle/thrill about thinking of you, Keili, doing all those Jell-o shots because it's hard to shake the image of when you were 1st on WFMU as a child. I think it's great that you've survived that transition with an audience; so many child performers don't have that real ability that translates into grownup success.

I had a great July 4 too, taking friend Fred Cookinham's Revolutionary walking tour of lower Manhattan, then returning to the Bronx for the yard/street fireworks. My own homemade rockets are coming out with me to NJ.
