Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Mike Sin:

Hey folks! Good afternoon.

If you want your record played on Joe Belock's show, you must include a bottle of "The Knot" in the package with the record! It's specifically stated right there in the guidelines!
Avatar 12:15pm Joe B:

Mike is KNOT kidding!
  12:15pm KevinWho:

good to know!
  12:18pm laura:

WFMU's all about the liquor-based payola.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it might be 'DreamyLady' - he answered...
  12:19pm KevinWho:

a surplus of The Knot could also help explain the Inaccu Playlist and other errata ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Mike Sin:

The Allah-Las is my go-to album for those lazy summer sunsets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:22pm tim from champaign:

If I had a radio show, I would be very pro-payola. Free records, booze, pizza, sandwiches.
  12:22pm John L.:

Is the new Above full-length out yet? Loved the last one, and this sounds great.
Avatar 12:24pm Dr. Goot:

There is a reason Mr. Belock is "The Peoples Champ"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...all-girl bands get played payola-free on Thursdays...
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 12:24pm tim from champaign:

Alright! the main theme in Slapshot!

Avatar 12:25pm Joe B:

  12:26pm KevinWho:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Mike East:

Aw Joe, don't make me put Super Hits of the 70's back in my CD player...once its in there, it won't come out for months.

Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:02pm tim from champaign:

The segways are fine, Joe. Unless you are thinking about the personal transportation device, then I'd say you are right in second guessing yourself.
Avatar 1:03pm Dr. Goot:

Lord Buckley! Nice one Joe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Parq:

Has anybody been watching the HBO sitcom "Family Ties"? I don't usually go for sitcoms, but this is the work of Christopher Guest -- nuff said. I mention it because there was a recent episode involving a Civil War reenactment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Sem Chumbo:

Lord Buckley? Beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Parq:

Did he just substitute "put down the Sign of the Nazz" for "consecrate"? Jeez, gotta love this guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Mike Sin:

So, the Battle of Gettysburg was seven score and ten years ago today, as it were?
Avatar 1:07pm Dr. Goot:

  1:15pm John L.:

A musician friend of mine played with a multicultural group of musicians in South Carolina, recently. Three or four restaurants had there kitchens suddenly close down upon their entrance. The one place that did serve them gave them, in their change, a five dollar bill. The word "traitor" was stamped on Lincoln's face.
  1:18pm KevinWho:

not quite getting enough reverb on this Twin Guns
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

John L.: ...Oops - wrong Century...
Avatar 1:20pm Danne D:

Hey Joe B :)
Heavy on the Maxwell's bands today, eh?

Bravo Joe, great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Parq:

Late Riser, still here. Yeh, she can get kind of tiresome. Not as good at ad libbing as the others, I guess. I'm enjoying the US episodes the most, since they involve all of Guest's best regulars.
  2:23pm John L.:

Found this on the Warner Brothers:http://www.classicgaragerock.com/index.php/bands/bio/31
  2:24pm KevinWho:

great bar argument starter, Joe B.: WORST classic rock band!
  2:24pm KP:

LZ first album only. After that, not one second. But first is great.
  2:25pm John L.:

Agree on Led Zep, Joe. A frequent argument starter around here.
Avatar 2:27pm nanantatee:

Agreed, though I also never became very immersed in the Who either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm SeanG:

damn this is good
  2:27pm KevinWho:

off the top of my head, like, Procul Harum was worse than Zeppelin, no? in any event, it's a hilarious premise
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...not a ZepHater but...

The
Wh♂
for me...
Avatar 2:28pm Joe B:

The Who, anything pre-Tommy for me. Though I like the last 2 albums also! really!
Avatar 2:28pm nanantatee:

Shake Some Action, feel like 80% of bands cover this song live... even Evan Dando, which took me by surprise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- & the Groovies! : ) ...
Avatar 2:29pm Joe B:

Procol Harum, I only ever hear 2 songs, and that is infrequently on oldies radio. Zep ... ingrained in my brain. every single cut that I don't know the names to
  2:32pm John L.:

The Who Sell Out is one of my faves of all time. Daltrey still had some vulnerability in his voice and the songs are brilliant.
Avatar 2:33pm nanantatee:

Wish someone would throw a Children of Nuggets festival!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- I'm gonna come right out & say 'ShakeSomeAction' is wunna TheeGreatAlbums...
Avatar 2:34pm jljl:

Parq, I did get a kick out of hearing Joe mention reenactment after the last show. It's ok but I'm not dying over it. I get a bigger kick out of Maron on IFC.
As far as Procol Harum goes, I think I'm gonna bust out some when I fill in on the oldies show on the 4th. They've got a good handful of songs. Worst classic rock for me might be Doobie Bros
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Mike East:

I asked my wife for The who Sellout for Xmas, but she got me Live at Leeds instead...I didn't have the heart to point out the mistake.
On another note, I just saw Quadrophenia for the first time last Sunday. Awesome.
  2:35pm KevinWho:

personally, the Doors get on my last nerve (waits for Bruce McCullogh to freak out)
Avatar 2:35pm Droll:

The Doors are worst, no contest. Carnival music on bad acid. I'd rather listen to a Yoko Ono-Jandek duet.

I have an HD radio and the local classic rock stations (with a playlist of only about 50 songs) plays oldies on one of their HD channels. Most oldies top the overplayed classic rock tunes, and even at their worst are only 2:30 long.
Avatar 2:35pm Joe B:

doobies - great one. i hear them more last 5 years than when they were actually around.
Avatar 2:36pm Joe B:

can never have enough copies of live at leeds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Live@Leeds' is a problem? : )
Avatar 2:36pm nanantatee:

I love the idea of a Yoko-Jandek duet, but then again, I also enjoy The Doors
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm G:

Doors as the cheesmeister generals. Even someone as un-with-it as Mel Brooks knew that -- check "The Producers"
Avatar 2:37pm Dr. Goot:

The original Live at Leeds was well packaged!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Mike East:

@RR11/63 - no problem at all...just not what I had been hinting at for most of the year...and completely out of the blue. Glad I own it, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I'm in the Pro-Doors column
...& so are Iggy, Echo&Bunnymen, MazzyStar...
  2:38pm KevinWho:

Doors Fans: "All that new stuff sucks ... but it's over there."

Avatar 2:39pm Joe B:

i think I'll start with the greatest hits ...
Avatar 2:39pm jljl:

Has anyone seen the Zombies on this tour? They're charging $45 in Boston this Sun. which is too much, altho I'm curious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- MelBrooks was w/ it!
- & his 'Hitler' *was* 'Morrisonian'.
- & I love the Doors.
  2:39pm John L.:

Greatest Hits are for housewives and little girls!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Right MikeE.
- The Hits are *always* the worst.
  2:43pm Bluesman:

Joe will you be at the FG/PCB show Saturday night? I'm making a rare public appearance.
  2:43pm Bluesman:

....and it would be great to see ya.
Avatar 2:46pm Joe B:

I'm working on it Blues! gonna be at maxwell's any time this month?
Avatar 2:47pm nanantatee:

I can imagine if you met Jim Morrison and told him he was a cheesemeister he would stared you down until you turned into ashes, then he would turn into a cobra and swallow you whole.
Avatar 2:48pm nanantatee:

Or roll you up and smoke you
Avatar 2:49pm Danne D:

Always love the Francesaesque bed music :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Mike Sin:

Joe, well all right! Thanks for the spin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Mike East:

I got about 5 people to buy this record because of that live set on efd's show. plus one for myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Sem Chumbo:

Fine afternoon listening in while it continues to rain here. Thanks, JB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm SeanG:

BOWIE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& Bowie's in the ProDoors column...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm G:

Somehow I think I could absorb a dirty look from someone who makes Rod McKuen look like Shakespeare. Do you hope to pluck this dusky jewel? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm G:

It's supposed to pour in NYC. Like every other frigging day recently. No sign of it here yet...
  2:58pm Bluesman:

Yes Joe, trying to clear my Calendar for at least one Maxwells show. I had a hunch that the Muffs were gonna play and it looks like I already missed my chance on that one. Gotta make a few calls.
Avatar 2:58pm Dr. Goot:

Dude's still got chords.
  2:58pm KevinWho:

all those successful musicians all like each other, it's like one big publishing-royalties fraternity
