I am working in a building today where the water is off and no one was informed that it would be. The answer to the obvious next question is "it'll be back on when it's back on". So Liz, no fair playing any tracks with the sound of running water or talking about waterfalls and tall glasses of lemonade for a while. M'ok?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am
Liz Berg:

Whoa, B23, sounds like they should just shut the building down and send everyone home until the water is back! Will try to avoid H2O references if I can help it!

Dan B From Upstate:

Still have never seen midnight express but my late teens early 20s self loved this song because of art bell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am
tim from champaign:

Common - It happened because some American jackass tried to smuggle dope out of Turkey. Or are you talking about seeing the movie as a kid?

@xezzy, please don't use words like "pouring" for the time being, ok?

Thanks for bringing that to us, Liz. He looks like such a nice guy in that picture. Not at all what I had expected.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am

Yeah, it ("Mahna Mahna") was written by Piero Umiliani.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am
G:

@ME: what did you expect him to look like? curious! :p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am
efd:

"Son Of My Father" alone qualifies Giorgio Moroder for a lifetime achievement award, as far as I'm concerned. Everything else is just gravy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am
listener james from westwood:

i watched bbc documentaries on krautrock and british synthpop over the weekend to prepare. glad to have a big burst of moroder music today to follow it up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am
Liz Berg:

Giorgio was the first of many to cover "Mahna Mahna" (1968). I agree about "Son of My Father" being one of the best songs ever written, efd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am
efd:

The instrumental version of "Son Of My Father" on one of those Schlagermoroder discs (listed as "part 2) is also pretty awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am
Mike East:

@G - I dunno...I think I expected him to be more pretentious. Perhaps just a stereotype I have about synth people. He looks very humble in that picture.

agree about Son of My Father.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59am
Liz Berg:

There was a great 2-part BBC radio documentary about Giorgio Moroder recently, but now I see the beeb won't let you listen to it anymore. Boo.

I definitely didn't want to ask Giorgio any questions about his work with Donna Summer because EVERY interview with him seems to focus solely on that aspect of his career. However, it WAS a crowning moment in music history and a great song, so I can't resist playin' the hit!
