That B-52's track flashed me right back to the 80's. I think that was one of the last tracks their innovative first guitarist played on before he went to the Big Studio in the Sky.

When I sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with Melvins I couldn't remember the words. So I did that cool rock thing where you hold the microphone out for the audience to sing. They didn't know the words either. So I changed the lyrics to meows. True story!

Avatar 2:42am
listener mark:

"The catbird seat" is an idiomatic phrase used to describe an enviable position, often in terms of having the upper hand or greater advantage in all types of dealings among parties. According to the Oxford English Dictionary,[1] the first recorded usage occurred in a 1942 humorous short story by James Thurber titled "The Catbird Seat,"[2] which features a character, Mrs. Barrows, who likes to use the phrase. Another character, Joey Hart, explains that Mrs. Barrows must have picked up the expression from Red Barber, a baseball broadcaster, and that to Barber "sitting in the catbird seat" meant "'sitting pretty,' like a batter with three balls and no strikes on him."
Avatar 2:42am
BadGuyZero:

FROM THE INTERWEBS: CATBIRD SEAT: To be in the catbird seat means “to be sitting pretty, to be in a favorable position.” It is a southern Americanism dating back to the 19th century but popularized nationally by Brooklyn Dodgers baseball announcer Red Barber, of southern origin, and James Thurber’s short story “The Catbird Seat.” The catbird, or North American thrush, usually sings it song from a high place in a tree. It has the name catbird because “its ordinary cry of alarm . . . somewhat resembles the mew of a cat.”
