Hello Bill, w41, Looms & listeners.
Chickens are fed, dog walked. Waiting for pearls from Reverend Bill.
This Gaint Ant Farm reminds me of a Delgados song,

Morning Gents. The rain followed me all the way up here this morning, but here we are. I think I pulled some gems this evening, but what do i know. I just hope you're amused.

Andy in Berlin:

Pouring the coffee and signing in. Bill did you ever imagine you'd be doing a breakfast show?
Avatar 3:35am
Bill Mac:

Ah yes Andy, modern technology saves the day once again. I wouldn't call a lot of this breakfast music though, much as I like most of it for morning listening
Avatar 3:43am
Jay/London:

Good Morning Bill and all so glad it's the weekend .. have to have root work done on my teeth cost about £300 +
Avatar 3:45am
Bill Mac:

Yikes, yep isn't nature wonderful?! The age thing wouldn't be so bad if it didn't involve falling apart.
Avatar 3:48am
Jay/London:

moon duo was on my mp3 thing only last week .. yeah bill just wonderful ;)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50am
Stanley:

Gooooood morning to you too, Bill (second attempt)
Avatar 3:52am
Jay/London:

yes Andy they pay some of the costs for teeth, If I went private it would be over £1,000
Avatar 3:53am
Looms:

The Surplus 1980 track sounded really great indeed.
Avatar 3:53am
KP:

Good morning Bill! And what a fine stormy one it is!
Avatar 3:57am

Avatar 4:01am
Andy in Berlin:

@ we have to pay for part of the cost of crowns but not root canal. Or not yet...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01am
Brian in UK:

But thereagain I am not an electric guitar fan. Shall I leave now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02am
Brian in UK:

@Andy We have to pay for crowns on the heads of our royal family.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02am
Stanley:

I'm with you on the Bill Nelson, Bill. Thought the band was much overshadowed by what else was happening at the time (mid-late seventies)
Avatar 4:03am
Jay/London:

@ Andy In Berlin sounds about the same as here then for dentists
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04am
Stanley:

its Third Uncle, Jim but not as we know it.
Avatar 4:04am
Jay/London:

be bop deluxe was one of those bands that got overlooked at the time me thinks
Avatar 4:08am
Andy in Berlin:

A friend of mine once said that you know you're getting old when you spend more time talking about ailments and less time talking about sex.

Bill was this Stray originally on Transatlantic?
Avatar 4:16am
Bill Mac:

Yeah Brian, all of the artists on this comp were from the Transatlantic stable.
Avatar 4:16am
KP:

Hey Bill I am now Facebook friends with Roger Earl, the Savoy Brown and Foghat drummer. Quite an honor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21am
Brian in UK:

Soft Machine did some Pataphysics stuff based on Alfred Jarry's work. He was the creator of Ubu Roi, Pere Ubu's passion.
Avatar 4:22am
Bill Mac:

KP - I knew who you were talking about before I finished your message. Pretty cool. How did you manage that? Caught Foghat back in the day when they were at the height of their success.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28am
Brian in UK:

'pataphysics - imaginary solutions to as yet unasked questions. (very crude description)
Avatar 4:30am
KP:

The primo band though was Savoy Brown with the Foghat gang and Chris Youlden on vocals. I saw them on a sweltering night in the city, outdoors, and he came out in a full length fur coat and a top hat. He had incredible stage presence and a dramatic voice. In fact one of their best songs was called "Life's One Act Play."
Avatar 4:33am
KP:

I met a work friend of my wife's named Mona. I said you must be tired of that song. What song is that? Mona! The Stones! Never heard of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34am
Brian in UK:

@KP Were they originally called Savoy Brown Blues Band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36am
Brian in UK:

There are so many complications out these days, best thing about CDs.
Avatar 4:37am
Bill Mac:

KP I don't really even bother to talk to other folks about ANY music - most people don't get it. Most people seem to know only what's the top 30 is at the moment. Sometimes I think I'm the one with the problem.
Avatar 4:38am
Andy in Berlin:

@Brian - whether they were specifically called that or not, that's certainly what they were. I saw them a couple of times, they put on a great show.
Avatar 4:39am
Looms:

oops!
Avatar 4:39am
Andy in Berlin:

@ Bill - that's what I call service! I love this Savoy Brown song. At any speed.
Avatar 4:40am
KP:

Hey Savoy Brown with Chris Youlden. What service!
Avatar 4:40am
Bill Mac:

Ugh.... set at the right speed but the pitch slide was turned waaaay down.... wanted to do the song justice.... this is my favorite Savoy Brown tune.
Avatar 4:41am
Andy in Berlin:

yeah, what a great voice
Avatar 4:42am
Andy in Berlin:

I think my favorite might be Lousiana Blues but this is great too.
Avatar 4:43am
KP:

So they dumped Youlden or he quit. Lonesome Dave became the lead singer. Then he and Tone Stevens and Roger Earl left Kim Simmons and formed Foghat.
Avatar 4:45am
Jay/London:

hey bill did you look up Alan freeman? after last weeks show
Avatar 4:45am
KP:

I saw the latest Savoy Brown. A trio with Kim singing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46am
Brian in UK:

You need a Zigzag family tree.
Avatar 4:48am

Avatar 4:56am

Avatar 4:56am

it was about limb amputations due to bad luck.

A Blue Million Miles. Possibly the only weak track on what is a perfect album.
But this waa-waa wakajawaka action is fine-fine me.
Avatar 5:32am
Andy in Berlin:

I love this Captain Beefheart song but I have to say this is not the greatest cover. I wonder how many of his songs are covereed? He doesn't seem like the easiest artist to cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33am

Clear Spot is in my all time top 10.

There was a Liverpool band called Ella Guru.
Avatar 5:37am
Andy in Berlin:

I saw Captain Beefheart a couple of times and they totally tore it up. The Drumbo band was here but I didn't get to go.
Avatar 5:38am
Andy in Berlin:

Beefheart addendum - it was so amazing to see a band who could turn on a dime like that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43am
