Nyman actually a great transition from previous Program

- I'm in Luuurve - ! What a great version - !
...Normally Thursdays are my Mondays - so I must part
- but hopefully I can get a computer that'll stream @ my job - a Thrift Store where I must play music - & we can stay together - !...

I held out against CDs until about 1992. First CD purchase was The Orb's "adventures beyond the ultraworld" and that Master Musicians of Jajouka one that Laswell produced... apocalypse across the sky... odd to remember that.

Yeah, I think I bought my first CD in 1983. But all those dates in prehistory are hard to keep track of.

Pleistocene? Jurassic? Early CD? Those eras were all within a couple of years of each other, probably.

Rev. Turnip Druid:

The "sound quality" hype was hysterical nonsense back then. There was all this mouth-breathing praise for what was sound so crystal clear, it's like getting punched inna neck by a 3-D orchestra of party face!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am
DCE:

one guy where I work is on a kick of collecting early 80s boomboxes...they're always coming in via UPS. We all gather round to wonder.
Avatar 10:19am
Richard Nixon:

Yeah the sound quality of early CD's was generally terrible because they simply printed CD's of the original "for vinyl" masters instead of remastering for the new format
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am
Faye:

the more you know!!!
Avatar 10:21am
Rev. Turnip Druid:

But then when some classic stuff was "remastered for cd," the results were shrill and unlistenable ... 50s jazz suffered terribly... or at least some of the stuff I got...

Today they have a mastering plugin that just slams the compression up to 5000% and turns the audio into a big square fuzzy turd. But that's OK cuz its really, really LOUD and really, really LOUD is good, right?
