@Mike East: had the same thing with Billy Ocean when I was young, until I saw one of his music videos. Actually, I never thought one way or another about BO's ethnicity. I blame the fact that many of his big hits were such standard 80s' pop that I had absolutely no mental image what BO could look like. Just a faceless guy in an 80s' suit.

@steve: I will say theory no. 3 arrived from a discussion about how Prince used to hand out finished demos to one-night-stands to his record company's annoyance. Thus, Duane having so many demos must mean he was more than a one-night-stand. Maybe even Prince's muse.
