Got here on accident, as I'm cleaning and just need background ambiance. I always forget Doug on Tuesdays! (will procrastinate the cleaning a little bit longer)

Avatar 6:08pm ndbob:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Doug Schulkind:

@Jeff G
Mr. Reggie Workman is slapping the heartstrings. Workman will appear later in this evening's proceedings as well...
  6:09pm El Thatchmo:

Trane still blows, and the oppression grows, and junkies still OD in ghetto halls.
Avatar 6:09pm Philo Gristle:

Done. I'm all for extra gluten, being a gluton myself!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

@El Thatchmo
You should be our Poet In Chief.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Jeff Golick:

Workman, of course. His name came to me a (heart)beat later.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Robert Barry doing the bashing behind Sun Ra here. WFMU's Stork once spent the day with Barry in Chicago and captured hours and hours chatter on tape.
Avatar 6:15pm kat330:

Hey ho, Doug and Somes! Multitasking per usual, but ears have only one job.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Doug Schulkind:

@kat330
I like your apron!
Avatar 6:17pm glenn:

sorry arts.nationalpost.com...
Avatar 6:17pm kat330:

Hi, ndbob! Philo gets a special treat (meaning we only buy if on sale) tonight of a gluten-filled hunk of deli-baked Italian bread. I've enough for Doug and you, too.
Avatar 6:18pm kat330:

Apron? As if...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Doug Schulkind:

I think of aprons as being exalted garb of the working class. Cobblers, smelters, cookers and such.
Avatar 6:20pm Philo Gristle:

Speaking of favorites, while I love plenty besides in the Coltrane catalog, above all is his 18 minute title tune from Ole... if it begins, it has to end. Always.
Avatar 6:20pm ndbob:

Heya Kat!
Avatar 6:20pm kat330:

For my kitchen artistry, I don a smock and a beret. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Doug Schulkind:

@Philo Gristle
You are SO right about Olé. So so right.
Avatar 6:31pm Philo Gristle:

Happy to hear Doug. Never knew if it was just a local brain malfunction, given that I rarely hear it mentioned. I can loop it all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Doug Schulkind:

Check out the photo of Julian Priester I put on the WFMU home page (wfmu.org). Doesn't he look like Ghandi?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Doug Schulkind:

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
The mighty Jesse Kaminsky is up next here on the Drummer Stream with Kaminsky Kamoutsky. His playlist page is here:

bit.ly...
Avatar 6:33pm Philo Gristle:

That was what I thought when I opened the page, then got confused as I read the small print.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Doug Schulkind:

Shoot, if Mahatma could blow a bone like this, I play an hour of him, too.
Avatar 6:41pm Holly in NC:

I am here. And I need Doug to send me his most excellent cropped Lunchbox pic as I can't figure out how to do it myself ;-)

And while swiftly scanning the PL I really thought Doug played a Judas Priest 2fer, which pretty much almost made my head explode
Avatar 6:42pm ndbob:

Heya Holly!
Avatar 6:42pm kat330:

@Holly: I LOVE that fat cat!! :) And I feel such a fool the other day not recognizing Moonbeam McSwine. Esp. as I portrayed Daisy Mae in a staged production of "L'il Abner" once upon a timer.
Avatar 6:44pm glenn:

who played jubilation t. cornpone?
Avatar 6:44pm kat330:

Geez, time not timer -- got cooking (or old age) on the mind.
Avatar 6:44pm northguineahills:

Trying to clean my shower in soccer shorts, and there isn't a radiator near the bathroom. This is going to be fun. (TMI?)
Avatar 6:46pm kat330:

@glenn: It was far from an all-star cast, but I believe his name was Bill Griffin (or Griffith?). It was a summer job at one of those Lake George resorts in upper state NY, where you're a waitress by day and a performer by night. Great tips though!
Avatar 6:46pm ndbob:

I saw someone wearing shorts. walking to school today - and it was -13
Avatar 6:47pm glenn:

waitress by day, performer by night. sounds like a book by gypsy rose lee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

@Holly in NC
Judas Priest, good; exploded head, not so good.
Avatar 6:48pm kat330:

@ngh: No heatsource near your bathroom? That's harsh. We have a couple of small electric heaters to supplement our furnace (kept at 67-degrees max) on nights like these.
Avatar 6:49pm kat330:

yeah, without all the glamor. (or glamour if you prefer)
Avatar 6:49pm glenn:

@ndbob
No. No you didn't.
Avatar 6:52pm Philo Gristle:

@Glenn Go Canada! Not space related (junkie that I am), but Kat & I just finished watching Slings & Arrows yesterday.
Avatar 6:53pm kat330:

@glenn: Doesn't really evoke a Crescent, but it's a lovely sight nevertheless. Have you seen the station bolt across the sky?
Avatar 6:55pm Philo Gristle:

This images is even better..... shades of Bitches Brew there...
Avatar 6:55pm northguineahills:

Our downstairs neighbor has the thermostat for the whole building. So, it may be warm in their place, but cold in ours. It's about 15C/59F in the one half the apt, a healthy 12C/52F in the kitchen if the oven isn't on, and 4C/39F in my bathroom. Drinking hot green tea in between cleaning sorties.
Avatar 6:55pm glenn:

no. i'm usually asleep by 10 o'clock. slings and arrows is really the best thing.
Avatar 6:56pm kat330:

Doug, I'm going to sign off a bit early, so thanks as always for the Drummer dinner music! Keep warm everyone (snuggle with a kitty if you have one)!
Avatar 6:57pm ndbob:

excellent show Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Doug Schulkind:

@kat330
Stay warm!

Everyone!
Avatar 6:58pm Philo Gristle:

@glenn we saw it at 5:46 pm a few weeks past. You can sign up for notifications at you locale at 'spot the station.' I think Newsroom was even better, speaking of Canadian prods, but S&A was pretty outstanding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Doug Schulkind:

LOVE ME SOME SLINGS & ARROWS!
Avatar 7:00pm Philo Gristle:

Great Show Doug! Oh, and Great Show, Doug!
Avatar 7:02pm Holly in NC:

Well, thanks to dear Doug I've got the Miner in the act! Working on it.
Hello @ndbob!
@kat - THAT we need pictures of. You as Daisy Mae I'm sure wb the ultimate avatar!
The a)staid b)Muslim-owned coffeehouse I'm hanging at just made my head explode by playing Marshall Crenshaw's 'Cynical Girls', but it seems the owner just picked a good Pandora station by accident (currently playing 'I Wanna Be Sedated, really, whatever station this is it's awesome). When owner gets back from his falafel run, I'm sure we're back to the normal horrid overplayed 2 cds. I even made then a totally kickass 70s-era Rai cd (owners are Algerian) but it was too hardcore for them - they only like the newer stuff. And they now think I'm a total freak as I know their old music but don't speak French.
Avatar 7:03pm Holly in NC:

Oh, that was a long comment lost to the fmu gods, crap
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm Doug Schulkind:

@Holly in NC
Nothing is lost! I sees all and knows all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm Doug Schulkind:

Of course maybe kat330 doesn't sees all...
Avatar 8:41am Van in DC:

My turn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am Doug Schulkind:

Bundle up, Van!
Avatar 8:51am Van in DC:

Love the Saxy start!
Avatar 4:39pm kat330:

@Holly: "You as Daisy Mae I'm sure wb the ultimate avatar!" Hardly! :) It was just a good-paying job the summer after my first year of college. IOW, I was still a teenager. If pics exist, no one ever gave me a print. :/

So, if anyone scrounges up a photo taken of L'il Abner as performed at Blue Water Manor on Lake George, NY, please send me a link! :)
