Cool drums too, no wonder Reich went there to study those rhythms
Avatar 2:16am
Nat:

Can't say, it's all from the Hugh Tracey archives - Sharp Wood Records has reissued a lot from that - www.swp-records.com...
  2:18am
Veronica:

Cool, thanks.
  2:19am

  2:26am
Veronica:

It is ALL about the rhythm
  2:31am
Veronica:

I was really thinking about rhythm over the weekend after re-watching the Ravi Shankar documentary "Raga"...the full film is on YouTube in case anyone hasn't seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Y91TqDwM4
  2:36am
fred:

The rhythm in Indian music just baffles me. I try, but I just can't figure it out. I see musicians marking the beat, and it's never what I guessed
  2:38am
Veronica:

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean!
  2:42am
chinchilla:

just got home from the bar- checkin in for my sleepy time comics and wfmu routine keep the weirdness rollin!
  2:43am
fred:

My boss plays tabla and tried to explain the basics to me, but I'm still just as lost...
  2:47am
Veronica:

That's cool he plays tabla and tried to teach you. I've always fantasized about learning to play sitar, but I think I would be just as lost as you trying to learn tabla. LOL
  2:49am
fred:

He didn't try to teach me tabla, just the theory of rhythm in Indian music. Even that was beyond me
  2:55am
Veronica:

Speaking of rhythm, I just noticed the heartbeat type pulse in the background of this piece.
Avatar 2:56am
Nat:

LOL, good find, I was thinking it's funny you're talking about rhythm when I haven't played any of that in like 45 minutes!
  2:56am
Veronica:

LOL
