So, how much longer until NOAA declares the hurricane season is over? I guess Nov. 30 is considered the last day, right? The 2005 season had hurricanes that lasted into January, 2006, I believe.

morning faye.... wow, The Clangers are sounding pretty cool right now! (British folks will know what I am on about!)
  9:47am
stingy d:

yea, nah.

but it was the one played before that very noticeable synthesizery thing that started the next song.

i didn't sleep last night.
  9:49am
stingy d:

oh wait... it wasn't old? music is so funny to me. i thought it was a gloomy day's sunshine pop type deal.

BSI:

Whut? a tune called P Street Beach? Weird DC flashback. Site of several violent happenings in the '80s...
  10:02am
BSI:

...and a few memorable shows as well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am
Faye:

oh glad ya figured it out stingy d! BSI-Razor 18 are in fact from DC, so it all comes together!
  10:09am
dcp@:

Liked that Razor 18 tune but I'm too young to remember P Street Beach. BSI, have you been privy to any of this 9353 vs Dischord hate/war that's going on presently? Mostly coming from Mr. Hellington...
  10:10am
Cheri Pi:

do tell dcp@! will any of it be in the new docudrama?
  10:11am
dcp@:

eh, not my place to get into it...just interesting if you're looking at the world from DC.
  10:13am
dcp@:

I think it mostly came to a head cuz of Salad Days.
  10:15am
Chris from DC:

Was away at school during that P St. thing, but I think I vaguely remember Razor 18. Curious about this 9353 thing now.
  10:17am
BSI:

@DCP. Indeed I have knowledge. And good friends on both sides of the conversation. Unfortunate, since I'd love to have the 9353 angle immortalized in the story. The universe needs to know that '80s DC punk was not all precious dischord nonsense. I heavily dug about 20% of it. But like any "scene," it was super complex...
  10:20am
Kate:

love that throwaways track! always a good morning with hello children, thanks faye!
  10:21am
dcp@:

yeah, pretty much agree. I wasn't here but have interests in both camps and think there's plenty of room for the full story. I'm not ready to come down on dischord though...and think some of the noise sounds a bit...hysterical, shall we say...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am
Faye:

Hi Kate!! Thanks for saying so! Always good to see you checkin in
  10:24am
Cheri Pi:

I love a good rumble between factions, with 30 years of hindsight to put things in humorous perspective.
  10:24am
Greg from Bloomfield:

Dump truck, dump truck, spare that car...
  10:26am
dcp@:

..I'm trying to be vague cuz like I said, I don't feel like it's my place...I'm just in the audience at this point but if push comes to shove I'll have to take a specific side.
  10:27am
BSI:

DCP: yeps. As for the Dischord thing, I dug Beefeater more than the others (live, particularly) but after years of shows, the strained "message" angle finally got on my nerves. But to be fair, during Reagan days there was a lot to fart about.
  10:28am

"Welcome to Inflatable Boy Clams dot com. This is a record that will haunt me 'till the day I die. The first time I heard this record back in the early 80's I was ..."
  10:31am
BSI:

"strained message" comment refers to the scene in general, not beefeater specifically. anyway GOD, that Boy Clams thing was wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am

credit goes to Scott Williams for graciously informing me of its existence!

  10:49am
dcp@:

huh, this just came up on a list and is a good example of how complicated it can get--Svenonius is deep in the thick of Dischord but never really fit the mold. I think he's great, if sometimes boorish:

On the 'b' vs. 'v' thing, why is the plural of knife, knives? An 'f' turns to a 'v.' The plural of fife is fifes not fives.
