Oh, Duane, don't be embarrassed. But seriously, 3 of my chronic illnesses have decided to flare up at the same time, and your show is taking my mind off it nicely. Haven't even had to take any pain killers yet! You are serving the pain relief.

  2:10pm
Duane:

Mike East..It's hella P. Funk-like! That was a "Parade" throwaway..*smh*
  2:11pm
Duane:

Caryn: I understand..hope you feel better. I've been battling a bronchial infection since I got back from Germany last week. Funk not only moves..it removes:)

tim from champaign:

Duane, you got the chronic. Why don't you share some?
  2:19pm

  2:20pm
tim from champaign:

  2:24pm
Duane:

tfc: That's the one :)
  2:25pm
Duane:

the Lewis bros were the ones responsible for this
  2:26pm
kata:

steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil helps clear lung issues. Also take a few weeks off of smoking if you do. A long-steeped tea with fresh lemon, fresh ginger, a little apple cider vinegar, honey, and hot water helps with any kind of cold/flu. Also, roast an entire head of garlic and eat it in one sitting with bread or crackers. I'm not a doctor but I like to give unsolicited advice ;)
  2:26pm
tim from champaign:

Wow! I read about that group in Wax Poetics. I had no idea it sounded that good!
  2:26pm
common:

i hear you gary!
  2:28pm
Jennique:

Good afternoon Duane! Thanks for kickin' out the Prince jams. I listen to your shows on the archives whenever I can't tune in live. I am in awe of your vast Prince collection. Are you his cousin or something? ;)
  2:31pm
Duane:

Thanks for checkin for me Jennique. As for the Prince Jams, I'm just one of many Prince fanatics in that crazy army..i'm no means a general or captain either..i don't have half the stuff some other folks have
  2:36pm
Carmichael:

Heya Duane. Doin' a drive-by and noticed your show. Anyone who plays Heatwave is alright by me.
  2:36pm
Jan Audun Uretsky:

Hi Duane... On the iPhone, so... But great show!
  2:38pm

  2:39pm
slugluv1313:

YAY DUANE!!! yup, vegan turkey day! :)
of course i am thankful but certainly do not want to kill anyone to "prove" this!!
  2:40pm
Caryn:

Next week on Duane's show: Jamaican plumber sings Sinatra. (you can dream, can't you...)
  2:42pm
Duane:

Thank you kata ! *big hug*
  2:44pm
Duane:

Caryn: I was thinkin about it..
  2:45pm
Caryn:

@Duane: I think we'd all be thankful if it would transpire. :)
  2:47pm
slugluv1313:

example: SO THANKFUL for your account of the Patois-infused version of "Fly Me to the Moon"!!!! "sounds" amazing . . . many many years ago, my first job out of college in NYC, i used to take the D train every day to get to work (and probably why, to this day, i still have this soft spot in my heart for the D train) -- one day a very large West-Indian accented man boards the train during evening rush hour with a huge steel drum and announces, "Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for riding the D train -- and now, I shall entertain you!" (or something like that) and he proceeds to play "Theme from 'The Godfather'" absolutely EXQUISITELY on that steel drum! and OF COURSE just about all of us gave him money :) . . . and OF COURSE, i sure wish i had THAT recorded somehow!
  2:48pm
kata:

you're very welcome Duane.. your attentiveness to our Prince needs reminded me to kick in a few.. much gratitude for all you and the rest of the DJs do to nourish us !
  2:53pm
Caryn:

Aw, just yesterday, watched Martha Reeves talking about Stevie Wonder. Nice timing.
  2:55pm
Caryn:

Which reminds me, any chance of some Martha on a future show?
  2:57pm
Duane:

That's a definite possibility Caryn!!
  2:58pm
Caryn:

Yay! Thanks, Duane! And yay for Thelma too!
  2:58pm
Denise in DC:

This Thelma Houston is awesome! I'm tempted to get up from my desk and dance.
  2:59pm
Caryn:

I'm doing some seated dancing!
  3:03pm
Caryn:

Nice version of the Prudence Farrow song!
  3:05pm
still b/p:
