fred:

Hey Marty! Welcome back!
Look what happens when you leave the station for a while. You'd better stay around from now on
Avatar 6:29am
marty:

Thanks Fred! I guess when I go down we all go down. (Sorry bout that) If i ever get to play basketball again I guess I'll have to be more careful.

Marty mate, event though Nate and the others did a great job filling in, it is great to have the 'cat' in the hat back.
Hope your are feeling better and the spirit of Lieutenant Dunbar kept you well.

welcome back

Careful crossing the road, now. Don't get hit by a motorbike or something while listening to your headphones, drunk with sleep getting so early to the station.

Metal makes us strong! But so does a pledge. I haven't gotten one yet to help us come back from this hurricane damage. So if you can help please do!

ausmanx:

i reckon it's got to be R Kelly. i'm getting a bit tired of old guys on stage. neil young's coming here soon with crazy horse playing in VINEYARDS, for christ's sake. he really should just pack it in...
Avatar 7:01am
marty:

Kells getting up there too. and hes also here in the city. I would have to treck to hudson for Manowar.
My dad took me to see CSNY when i was like 12 and well i think that was prob enough for me.
  7:05am
fred:

@ausmanx: I'll be seeing a few Australian musicians tonight: Anthony Pateras, Natasha Anderson, Clayton Thomas and Will Guthrie, joined by Jérôme Noetinger. Should be nice
  7:05am
(-_-):

heard Thundercats' new album?
  7:08am
ausmanx:

i loved neil, but the idea of Crazy Horse playing to 1000 baby boomers sipping chardonnay on a hill makes me vaguely nauseous... hey fred, Pateras is brilliant and played an AMAZING set with Jon Rose at my house last year, and Clayton's a friend [who I haven't seen for ages], so say hello from Nick in Sydney if you get a chance. that's a cool line-up!
  7:14am
fred:

Sure, if I see him after the show. I think he's in Berlin now, and I heard he's working on a biography/interview book with Barre Phillips
  7:16am
ausmanx:

funny! i just did the discography for the book/CD/DVD Barre's just released on Kadima... we stayed with him for a few days at his amazing house down in Provence
  7:20am
ausmanx:

VSS were one of the bands i'd never heard of before you played em, Marty, then i had to track down their stuff! there's been a few of those (Upsilon Acrux, Slaves etc)
Avatar 7:22am
marty:

Glad you dig it! THEY WERE THE BEST!!! and Slaves was VSS w/o Sony singing but there is talk of VSS reunion in 2013. I have already been talking to Sony and he tells me if they make it to NY that they are going to come up to the show. So hyped.

Ive been away though this whole fall pledge season and I need to do some catchin up to pull my weight. Help me help the station that helps you keep rockin

PKNY:

Welcome back Marty b/w/ I saw Manowar open for Overkill in the late 80s. They were ridiculous then, so I can't even imagine what seeing a bunch of aging dudes in loincloths shooting black arrows of death in the heart of false metal would be like.
Avatar 7:58am
marty:

HAHAH I BET IT WOULD BE EPIC!!!!
  8:07am
PKNY:

I saw them at the Chance in Poughkeepsie, which is about a 600 person capacity club. They had a wall of Marshalls about 15 ft high, like at least 4x4 cabinets on each side. In a club. *Opening* for Overkill. With both bands' backline set up, they had about 3 feet of space between their amps and the edge of the stage to walk around.

Face-melting stage raps to boot. Their guitar player had one of those leg immobilizer braces strapped on while still rocking their Viking gear, and Joey DeMaio said he hurt leg after he fell out of the tour bunk while banging some chick. Then some dude start heckling Joey, so he pointed him out in the crowd and said "You! I'm gonna be f**king your girlfriend tonight!" Spinal Tap have nothing on these dudes, straight up.
