Listener comments!

  11:56am Carmichael:

I'm doing something in the way of gainful employment, Charlie, but I'll listen in as I can. Damn mortgage company ....
  12:00pm ndbob:

morning Charlie, Carmichael, everyone!
  12:02pm Michael:

hey now charlie, carm, ndbob and any others that may appear. Lovely here in Boston - hope it is in B'boro and everywhere else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm charlie:

Well, Michael, Carmichael, and Bob, now it's a party.
  12:05pm Brian in UK:

Hello Charlie Carmichael, ndbob & Michael. If you want to get the cards out, I'll make the cocktails.
  12:06pm listener james from westwood:

did somebody say "party"? and "cards"? sign me up! and howdy to all!
  12:07pm Michael:

Quite the sausage-fest. Hope some chicks show up...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm charlie:

Howdy, Brian and James.
  12:09pm Brian in UK:

Charlie, ever played Wout Steenhuis? Great story. Innovative.
http://www.instrumentalreview.com/instreviewsteenhuis.html
  12:10pm kat330:

Hi, Charlie!

A nice moment in the kitchen when a Cooper chord matched the microwave beep perfectly.
  12:11pm kat330:

Michael, here's a chick. However, deal me in only for bridge. :)
  12:13pm Michael:

Finally! ;p Fun film this.
  12:14pm ndbob:

Hey Cat, Brian, James.anyone else I didn't say hello to
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm charlie:

I planned that chord to match your microwave, Kat330! (and welcome)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm charlie:

Brian -- I will look into that Wout Steenhuis, thanks.
Michael -- still never seen that film.
  12:16pm kat330:

Hiya, Bob, and also to all of you players here!
  12:17pm kat330:

Now if those Nara girls would put their hair up in B-52 beehives...
  12:18pm Michael:

More a comedy than straight western. Or western with comedic elements. Leone only partially involved.
  12:19pm Brian in UK:

That 'Don't say' verbal has got Spike Jones written all over it.
  12:24pm kat330:

Would it be easier if we were all numbers, Charlie?
  12:26pm jan:

njoyin your show!
  12:26pm Doug S.:

I'm cleaning house again today, so you have to compete with the vacuum cleaner. (Back in college, I was on the campus radio station with future WFMU deejay Matt Ostrowski—Uncle Matty O. In college, Matt was in a band and his instrument was the vacuum cleaner. Their big "hit" was "Sigmund Freud Was Right, I Want to Fuck My Mother.")
OK, back to "vacuuming"!
  12:28pm Laura L:

If you happen to have it, Charlie, "Titled" on Arto Lindsay's "Mundo Civilizado" would go right into this theme.
  12:30pm listener james from westwood:

if anyone has a tune to match the tone of that hoover as per kat330's microwave, it'll be charlie. or possibly kenny g.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm charlie:

Hiya Doug, Jan, Laura L.
I do have songs with appliances in them :)
Don't have that song, Laura, but will look for it.
  12:31pm Gary Mitchell:

diggin' Mousie here!
  12:31pm don:

ya buddy!
  12:31pm kat330:

@Doug: Completed my vacuuming four hours ago, before the heat of the day. Hope you're enjoying this spectacular week's worth of weather we're having.
  12:32pm Ralph K.:

I gotta call the wife - now there's a tone that matches.
  12:32pm Katya Oddio:

Hi, gang! Missed Fry and Laurie, dang. The one we sing at Oddio Headquarters is "Ever So Goosey."
  12:32pm ndbob:

Heya Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm charlie:

Gary, thanks for mousing on over!
Greetings, Don and Katya, Ralphie baby.
  12:35pm Gary Mitchell:

peppermints for everybody
  12:35pm listener james from westwood:

what what what? was just thinking about incense & peppermints earlier today. (the song, not the enlivening substances.) for some reason i was imagining muppets performing it. had sesame street started a few years earlier, they might have....
  12:36pm ndbob:

and QE 3 is here - more or less
  12:36pm Doug S.:

My favorite song mentioning household appliances is "The Dryer," a two-part soul treasure by Roy Lee Johnson & the Villagers.
  12:37pm ndbob:

@Doug not to mention Streisand's household appliance song
  12:40pm Doug S.:

And of course there's always "My Bathroom"

Go here: http://bit.ly/PmCSnQ
  12:42pm Brian in UK:

Muppets on acid. Would you Adam & Eve it!!
  12:42pm ndbob:

@Doug yep - I almost got a copy of that - someone right in front of me at a record show bought it
  12:45pm kat330:

Who am I? I'll be South. So who's my partner?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm charlie:

You really do want to play bridge, don't you, Kat330?
  12:46pm Carmichael:

PET-chu-laaaa
  12:48pm kat330:

@Charlie: I wouldn't mind. Been a mighty long time since I've played in a room full of tables. Mostly playing against the computer by my lonesome [emoticon is the Nara girl on the right, with a tear sliding down her cheek].
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm charlie:

Gezundtheit!
  12:49pm Katya Oddio:

All the talk about all that you give calls to mind
The Cinematic Orchestra - All That You Give

  12:51pm kat330:

That was W.F. Buckley, right?
  12:53pm Junior:

Junior.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm charlie:

Yes, speaking about Hunter S. Thompson.
  12:56pm Katya Oddio:

Yes! "Who Is It" was looping in the noggin with the theme of the show!
  1:00pm kat330:

Is this show going to end with "Who's on First"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm charlie:

lol, kat330!
  1:05pm kat330:

And they start playing bridge....
  1:11pm Matt from Springfield:

Don't know how to play bridge--you'll have to bridge that gap...

Hi charlie and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm charlie:

watch for the organ swell
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm charlie:

hello there Matt
  1:15pm Gary Mitchell:

she had an organ transplant
  1:15pm kat330:

Hey, Matt! Famous around these parts (besides Hunter S. Thompson) are our Bridges Never Built -- an endless debate.
  1:17pm Gary Mitchell:

this new creation is yet another winner.. what a show
  1:18pm Matt from Springfield:

Crunchy little number here, very good for Christian rock!
  1:18pm Katya Oddio:

Sinner man sure sounds like a lot more fun. Ack, hippies....
  1:20pm Matt from Springfield:

Hi kat!

Ooooh! We're Only In It For The Money! There's about 5 Zappa albums I really love, and this is one of them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm charlie:

Curative for hippies here.
  1:20pm Michael:

I'm goin' to the shrink so he can help me be a nervous wreck . . .
  1:20pm kat330:

I agree on that, Matt.
  1:21pm trish:

''m going to get a little lost.'
  1:22pm kat330:

I lost custody of this one in my divorce, so I've not heard it in an age. Thanks, Charlie! [Flower Punk I mean]
  1:22pm Michael:

First concert in NYC i ever went to was FZ/Mothers. Zappa trust recently released it so I had to get it.

  1:23pm kat330:

[Glad I clarified that!]
  1:23pm Brian in UK:

That's a swell organ.
  1:26pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Partridge Family albums are among the biggest casualties of divorces, you know ;)

Amazing segue, charlie!
  1:26pm Brian in UK:

FZ did some work with a Telefunken U47, if memory serves. Back to household equipment.
  1:27pm Katya Oddio:

David Cassidy is the same age as my mom (who started young). That freaked me out when I was little.
  1:28pm kat330:

Never ever saw The Partridge Family and heard about as little.
  1:28pm Katya Oddio:

Youse peoples always give me Thursday morning giggles.
  1:29pm kat330:

Isn't it "a cappella"? 2 p's or not 2 p's?
  1:30pm Katya Oddio:

One P, I think of Ella Fitz. "Pass a cap, ella"
  1:30pm Brian in UK:

Godot?
  1:31pm Katya Oddio:

(It's two P's)
  1:31pm Matt from Springfield:

I was in a restaurant recently where they were piping "muzaky" instrumentals of popular songs, and I was identifying various ones. Then I heard THIS exact track, the George Martin Orchestra's instrumental of "This Boy", that Ringo walked around to in "A Hard Day's Night".

Quality selection for a muzak mix! And I HAVE this one, that was the first time ever I had a muzak track I heard!
  1:32pm Katya Oddio:

(It's alternatively one P)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm charlie:

  1:34pm kat330:

Well, we may not have answered who we are in today's session, but we've nailed a cappella! :)
  1:34pm Katya Oddio:

Jesus and Jah and cults do seem to appeal to those who are lost and asking, "Who am I?"
  1:35pm ndbob:

the Dondero HS records are really good
  1:37pm Katya Oddio:

Cheers to Comfort Stand for providing them!

  1:41pm kat330:

Are you playing drums?
  1:43pm Katya Oddio:

Ha! My Comfort Stand email still works! I did not know that! [TM J. Carson] (tip og the hat to kat330)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm charlie:

I'm not in the band!
  1:44pm kat330:

OK, all right, no need to shout it! :)
  1:48pm kat330:

This lead vocal is somewhere between Howe Gelb and ummm, help me out ....
  1:50pm Matt from Springfield:

Send My Picture to Dunder Mifflin.
  1:51pm kat330:

Ooh -- non sequitur alert -- I heard it's David Clayton Thomas' birthday today. I really love his voice.

Just kidding -- Nice Lineup!
  1:56pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Ah, the BST singer! He is a great singer, and not a non-sequitur, since B.J. Thomas is also a good male singer from the same time period.
