Jealousy performs live!
Mark Treise and Alison Peery comprise the San Fran-based Jealousy, who summon muses such as Spacemen 3, Throbbing Gristle and Neu! with little more than a bass guitar, a theremin, and some mysterious and indistinct vocalising. For this, their second visit to WFMU, they're in very exploratory mode, mostly improvising songs on the spot and spelunking through some very dark caves. Look out for 2 soon-to-be released recordings on Moniker Records, including a split with Psychedelic Horseshit.
Thanks to Mark & Alison, and to Yvonne Szymczak & David Van Dokkum for the soon-to-be unleashed video of their performance (watch this space). Pic by Yvonne.

Listener comments!

  3:04pm
DCE:

happy birthday to Mr. Price...how funny!
  3:07pm
BSI:

burpday!
  3:08pm
DCE:

braaaaaaahp.
  3:14pm
KevinfromBayRidge:

Afternoon all, Long time...no Chunga! Thanks Scott.
  3:18pm
Marshall Stacks:

Ah, just what the doctor ordered: Chunga's Revenge. How did you know?
  3:19pm
Cecile:

BSI, if you are still setting up your iMac, I recommend Bell's Oarsman. It's a sour-mash ale with a low alcohol content, a refreshing sour taste and great aroma.
  3:22pm
Cecile:

I quaffed a number of them whilst trying to render the Golden Tee machine in the bar for posterity in pen and ink. It never looked better.
  3:23pm
BSI:

I have a deep respect for all things Bell's, Cecile. My goal was to have all things in place before the show @ 3pm, so now I need to strategically plan... make a surgical strike up to the corner shop...
  3:25pm
BSI:

Jeezus, a cannibal puppeteer. If that's not a first..... perhaps it should be...
  3:28pm
the glowing one:

  3:30pm
Cheri Pi:

I had no idea Bell's had a lower alcohol content selection, I'm all about that in these high temps.
  3:34pm
Cecile:

Yeah, 4%! It was mighty refreshing yesterday.
  3:37pm
Chris from DC:

Cool, thanks for the Selda link.
  3:37pm
phat:

chunga's revenge hit the spot. it's been a good set today 9as usual). i'm diggin' it.
  3:38pm
Cecile:

DAMN
I missed Franco-America! damn damn
  3:38pm
hubba:

  3:38pm

  3:40pm
Cheri Pi:

Thinking Fellers!!!
  3:41pm
phat:

Thinking Fellers!
  3:42pm
Dave B:

Well, hello there. Bummed that I missed out on Istanbulive. Thankful for the archives
  3:42pm
Cecile:

how many people were there? Was it a total national lovefest the way that Rachid Taha pulled every Algerian out of the woodwork when he came around a few years back?
  3:43pm
phat:

I haven't heard thinking fellers in ages! Refreshing.
  3:44pm
Cecile:

One usually doesn't associate Minneapolis with "large Algerian community", at least not in 2001, but the place was jammed with gorgeous MIddle Eastern people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Scott:

Lotta really ecstatic young turks (no pun) singing every word -- like, Selda's g'kids' generation. Lighter attendance than expected on account o' heavy rain
  3:45pm
Cecile:

oh, that sounds fabulous.
  3:49pm
slugluv1313:

oh wow!!!!!! i wanna go to Minneapolis!!!! love Rachid Taha :0 . . . i have heard that there is a large Ethiopian community there, did not know about the Algerians :)
I AM TOTALLY BUMMED THAT I MISSED SELDA, TOO!!! thank God/dess for the archives, and THANK YOU SCOTT for playing her here on your show! but still would have loved to see/hear her LIVE, despite the "bad" weather -- sounds like there was a wonderful beautiful vibe!!!!
  3:54pm
Cecile:

he never came back after the Barra Barra years. They were GIVING away tickets. It was still a great show.
  3:54pm
monte:

i'll have to go back later to hear the puppeteer -- read the story online. might as well have voices in my head to accompany the ugliness.
  4:01pm
slugluv1313:

WOW re: "good Christian" puppeteer Ron!!!!! creeeepy is RIGHT . . . and check out that hairpiece!!
what was it that Lux Interior said many years ago? around the time when David Berkowitz was caught -- something like, "never the people who look like me who are the serial killers, mass murderers, etc. -- THEY are always real 'normal' looking ON THE SURFACE" etc.
  4:04pm
?:

I like children, but I couldn't eat a whole one.
  4:05pm
Cecile:

I follow too much true crime to never say never about that, but Lux is pretty damn close to the truth there.
  4:06pm
pierre:

Bonsoir Scott
Bonsoir listeners
  4:07pm
DCE:

well, this is certainly a spooky sound to go with those spooky images.
  4:33pm
brycepunk:

Scott, I have never heard your show... but man, this is fucking great! Incredible sounds. Just incredible.
  4:37pm
Cecile:

  4:42pm
robert:

  4:48pm
fred:

Fantastic set, again. Who's the engineer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
Scott:

Jealousy's laying low for a bit, doing some recording. Check in w/ Moniker Records for details. Thanks Fred! I engineered it.
  4:51pm
Cheri Pi:

Scott, what beer is this in the picture?
  4:52pm
DCE:

now I really wish I could see the picture!
  4:53pm
rada:

My guess is River Horse Summer Blonde.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
Scott:

Yup, Rada nailed it
  4:55pm
Cheri Pi:

Rada- you're right!
  4:58pm
rada:

  4:58pm
Cheri Pi:

Gawd I hope BSI made the correct ale choice today.
  5:01pm
Jorge:

awesome set, as usually great show Scott
  5:02pm
BSI:

It was an extremely important decision. And with SW's expert guru-ing, I daresay we have done well on this day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm
Scott:

aw, heck! saison dupont? or the foret?
  5:06pm
BSI:

The saison. It's brilliant. The stuff smells like my hands after I change a bicycle tire (which is correct and fine) -- perfect nectar for installing software and pretending to be a snazzy freelancer.
  5:07pm
Cheri Pi:

Congrats BSI!
  5:07pm
BSI:

by the way: Yay Jealousy. And now, Yay Schnitzler.
Yay all of this. Yay yay...
  5:07pm
Cheri Pi:

Finally - thank you and your legion of volunteers for the wonderful swag package that I received on Friday. I'm still riding a swag high.
  5:28pm
paula pc:

this whole show was so deep...that Jealousy set, I think if I were in the same room with it I would have been fried by the waves.
  5:28pm
paula pc:

  5:48pm
BSI:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
Scott:

weirdest fucking song I've heard all week
  5:51pm
Cecile:

it is pretty strange, and a kinda goofy moment for her - she writes all these ponderous ballads.
  5:55pm
paula pc:

Thee Factrix still knows how to scare me
  6:04am
DCE:

Help me please help me
  10:58pm
Stanley:

Not only did I not make it to your show because I couldn't find my suit but I didn't even know it was Jim Price's birthday. I would have ordered flowers. Pink Gerbers,
