Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm

glenn, I am not a fan of the word "vacay." Not at all.

Joe D., I'm a record buyer, not a record collector.
  9:44pm
glenn:

i'm not sure which is stupider, vacay or convo.
  9:45pm
miss cheri:

evan sorry for using that "vacay" word..
  9:47pm
Joe D.:

Fair enough! Fair enough. That's an important distinction to make, says the guy who spent all last week's discretionary funds on the first 3 DK records and The Frogs "It's Only Right and Natural"
  9:49pm
miss cheri:

well i'll be back later tonight,,evan see ya
  9:49pm
PB:

I still spend a large percentage of my discretionary income on music (and have been doing so for about 45 years). Absolutely nothing I'd rather spend my money on.
  9:50pm
Beer:

Uh, discretionary income? Obviously you're not planning properly.
  9:51pm
steve:

is it bad that i don't know what discretionary funds are?
  9:52pm

im gonna say yes
  9:53pm

Fancy way of saying "spending money". Studied too much economics in college.

unfortunately... my thoughts exactly
  10:20pm

Holly: That was a delightfully disturbing link. Wonder how many times the reporter washed her hands after learning the truth?
  10:21pm
some other guy:

you can totally just call it "four".
  10:22pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

You can just call yrself "me."
  10:23pm
Holly in NC:

@SteveL - That poor young woman, I really do feel for her. A gazillion?
  10:27pm
Droll:

Isn't the real mystery in that video how the "meaty object" ended up 80m (262 ft) underground? I still think there's a story there.
  10:28pm
miss cheri:

ugggggghhhh summers here,,who hates summer besides me?? evan? holly?? do you hate summer??

you know what i do hate though? pants. these things are driving me nuts.
  10:31pm
Jered Weaver:

I don't know about this new PIL record, dude.
  10:32pm
Holly in NC:

@Droll - true. Horny miner?

New Nice Face was lovely.

I miss John L's younger voice, but nothing to be done about that. Oddly murky production though!
  10:33pm
SteveL:

Pants? Never wear 'em. Could explain a lot.
  10:33pm
PB:

Always loved the Sex Pistols but never "got" PIL.
  10:34pm

that PiL song was actually surprisingly good

evan & holly?? are you with me?? do you hate summer also??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm

I'm not going to waste my time hating something I have no control over.
  10:37pm
Droll:

Holly, I've heard about half that album and also though his voice showed his senior stature in the industry. I'll stick to the PiL albums I already have.
  10:37pm
steve:

Droll, that is a great question about the 'object'.

so that vid just made it to youtube yesterday? lets all hope there's a follow up.
  10:38pm
Holly in NC:

@PB - you might be pleasantly surprised if you ever choose to revisit metalbox/second edition.
@Cheri, you KNOW I HATE summer more than anything. So now I'm going to try & think of something more pleasant, like the Fat Boys.
  10:40pm
SteveL:

Time to vote for best band name:
Horny Miner
Meaty Object.

Begin now.
  10:40pm
PB:

Holly, I actually own Second Edition. Based on your recommendation. I'll give it another shot. Haven't listened to it in years. This old school rap is real summer music.
  10:42pm
Joe D.:

it sure is, Mitt
  10:43pm
Kendall!:

I thought Philly Boy Roy was joking when he said Romney was calling it Wawa's. I'm so very disappointed.

BY THE WAY

Finally got a Wawa's up in North Jersey. At the end of 280 in Parsippany.
  10:44pm
Joe D.:

you mean the BEGINNING of 280
  10:44pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Roy Zeigler knows how to say WaWa ya dope.
  10:44pm
SteveL:

Life is amazing when you're Mitt.
  10:45pm
Holly in NC:

Horny Miner's Meaty Object?
Perhaps too reminiscent of Atiel Pink's whatever

Evan, I love you
  10:45pm

From my perspective it's the END of 280 and that's what it will always be in my head.

The Parsippany Wawa is a 40 mile round trip from me.

...so I've only gone there a few times.

I hated summer so much I moved to Seattle where summer looks like this (I just took this photo from my patio)

I prefer "Les Wa."
  10:48pm

  10:48pm

The Fat Boys - named for one of the rap group names tried in Chris Rock's movie CB4? Or vice versa?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm

btw you'd better have food for them! I spoiled them last time.
  11:02pm
Joe D.:

says here that You Can Make it was also featured on the 83 Pebbles box set... wonder if it has the same intro?

also Evan do you have any insight into how these In-Sound interviews were recorded? They're pretty obviously not phone interviews, but they're not obviously not in-studio taped live either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm

Holly, that definitely sounded like the same "thank you for being with us!"

Joe D., I haven't read anything but I'd guess that the bands being interviewed went into some nearby radio station or studio and were given questions to answer, then HH read back those questions and the answers were edited in.

Go Penelope!

  11:32pm
Holly in NC:

@Danne, you're making me choke again!
And yes, I would kill for some fried clams & ice cream.
When Adam Ant played the Milford CT jai alai fronton, he ate at the Milford HoJOs. That is all. I was there.

Ken From Hyde Park:

I see that sports artist LeRoy Neiman has passed away.
  11:35pm
Danne D:

@Ken :(
  11:38pm
Danne D:

I remember volunteering on the MS Bike Tour about a decade ago and the half-way point was at "Seasons" or "Legends" or whatever the hell they had renamed the old Playboy Club up in Sussex county. I remember that literally everything was vintage probably from the opening of the place. Carpenting on the walls. Paneling and Lattice everywhere. Burnt orange and other earth tones dominated. Stucco. And of course there still were the Leroy Neiman prints in the rooms as well :)
  11:38pm
Danne D:

I bet that even in 2012 it probably STILL looks the same in that place. Probably a great place for an EFD starting with the 70s meet-up if ever there was one :)
  11:43pm
steve:

you've done it again efd! as someone who listens to 80s disco pop and loves all vocoder related music i am baffled to have never heard of this disco pop band named vocoder

It's bad form to clothesline an over-caffeinated child at a Starbucks, right?

(Don't worry I'm not really going to clothesline the kid - but seriously - these people wonder why the kids acting hyper at 11:48?...)
