Late 60s is up!
  9:27pm
Matt from Springfield:

Phew! Almost missed PGB's short notice fill-in last week--but this time, I come prepared!

Hello Mike! Glad that you're on!

Great "garage pop" show. Hope it's weekly and not a one-shot!
  9:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi frenchee!
I was pleased at first by Julie's 12-3, non-weeknight fill-in. Then when I found Amanda and Mike Sin were on before and after, I knew I would have to glue my ears to the speakers tonight! (applies super glue to ears)
  9:41pm
Matt from Springfield:

E-lec-tri-cal Ba-na-na...
  9:42pm
doctor b.:

Gonna be the very next phase!
  9:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

"I first saw them play in 1966 at a club called The Electrical Banana. Don't look for it, it's not around anymore..."

Still, that's a good found, the "lost" Pretty Things.
  9:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

LOL Doctor B!

Mike Sin isn't a one-shot, but he's not on the regular schedule either. You can enter your email and request to be on Mike Sin's email list; he sends reminders when he's going to do a fill-in. I think that service is worth it, Optical Sound is excellent!
  9:48pm
dan in falls church VA:

Wow, that Electric Mess track was cool! That band all news to me. From Brooklyn--of course! Brooklyn being the center of the universe.

Hey Mike, who's that in the studio with you?

As long as no one gets hurt, no such thing as too good a time!
  10:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

I had too good of a time yesterday...only hurts after the fact, but still totally worth it!

True that, G!
  10:08pm
dan in falls church VA:

Matt, are you in Springfield, Virginia? Have we been through this before?
  10:09pm

@Dan: Oh I have...but in case you haven't: YES! :)

dan in falls church VA:

@ Matt, yeah, if they ever drive or ride a bus between the Northeast and the Southeast of the US of A, they will loop through Springfield VA for sure! I wonder if a big airport will one day be built there, or perhaps a space port!
  10:22pm
G:

One of my uncles used to live in Reston (80s) and then Loudon County (90s/00s), so I'm sure I've filtered through or by Springfield at some point...
  10:24pm

Hey G:, yeah, Reston is part of the local mess here.

Spaceport was the videodrome hangout in my college town
It had a photo booth

"Rocket Summer" works for that. And Vangelis! The fun and knowledge never ends tonight!

dan in falls church VA:

Holy cow, Artful Dodger is from Fairfax VA, did you catch that, Matt? That's right here adjacent to Springfield & Falls Church & sh*t, did Mike do that on porpoise?
  10:50pm

@frenchee, every space port should have a photo booth!

Seconded. Great show.

After the band broke up, some members of the band moved back to northern VA and went into other lines of work (motorcycle shop, etc.):

dan in falls church VA:

Regarding Andromeda -- Lonely Streets, I like the mix/version on Andromeda - Originals much better than the one on Definitive Collection. So did John Du Cann. The other tracks on Originals sound superior to their other releases. "Originals" is taken from acetates and is mixed and sequenced much as Du Cann had originally conceived for the album. Check it! A much more satisfying presentation of the Andromeda material to my ears. http://www.amazon.com/Originals-Andromeda/dp/B000AO9OG2/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1338173710&sr=1-1

Thanks for the 411 on Artful Dodger, G!

@Matt, are you reffering to the Record Exchange @ Little River Turnpike/Main Street (Rt 236) and Pickett Road? I usually use CD Cellar Falls Church & Arlington locations.
  11:03pm
Matt from Springfield:

Super lo-fi garagey sound on Nova Local!
@Dan: Yep, the RTX is my local. Would you rec the CD Cellar as a good vinyl shop?
  11:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

Shit, just *what* was in my gin....?
Far Out Stoned Space Nuggets! Yayyyy!!! :)
  11:13pm
Mike Sin:

Thanks for stickin' with me, folks!
  11:14pm
dan in falls church VA:

Gotta love those Far Out Stoned Space Nuggets. @Matt, sure, I mean, they (CD Cellar) have new & used vinyl, and sometimes amazing deals on used, I get stuff for $5 & take it home & clean it & sometimes find it to be in outstanding condition and probably thus worth a lot more. Not a *huge* stock at either location, I don't have much to compare them to as afar as a contemporary vinyl shop! Last time I was at the Exchange I wasn't yet shopping for vinyl (again). The FC CD Cellar is only a block from my apt.
  11:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

I'm only happy to Mike!
Thank YOU for the usual wide assortment of under-heard, excellent 60s/70s tunes!

Oh yes, Dave Edmunds... wait to see who comes up next!

yeah, as Matt and I have discussed in our NOVA lore roundtables, I'm from Spfld VA but have lived abroad for a long time. Am moving back in 3 weeks. Everyone still wears flannel shirts and listens to Temple of the Dog, right?

Hi KP! Yes, stop by the Record & Tape Exchange if you're in Fairfax, VA! ;)

I've searched for record stores on the Internet for almost a decade now, and there's many that aren't around anymore, I could see if Olde Towne is still around, or rings anyone's bells.

Ace, I think we should set up a real-live-meetup soon.
Yes Dan! There's several in DC as well (BSI, dc pat, Chris from DC, Denise from DC etc..) so I'm wondering how best to set up a meetup.

Maybe a NoVA first, easier to coordinate. We can always show up to a later DC one on another occasion.

@KP, Matt, Ace, well, if any of you wanna contact me, djoy2311[at]gmail[dot]com

Cool. Thanks Dan.
  11:47pm
dan in falls church VA:

Ha, let's meet @ CD Cellar Falls Church, that's a block away, or the one in Arlington, there will be plenty of places to eat/coffee/drink etc near the Arlington CD Cellar. Fairfax is a drag for me as I'm post-automotive and for every mile further from town, the harder transpo gets.
  11:47pm
dan in falls church VA:

@Mike, we'll let you know about the meetup ;)
  11:48pm
dan in falls church VA:

"rocks in my head"...somehow I deeply relate to this track
