On the overnight, you can play Too $hort   Collaging in various supercuts that folks submitted to my marathon premium contest! Check out the software to quickly build a supercut here - last chance to get published on my marathon premium CD! I'll be finalizing the compilation in the next week to send out to all my generous listeners! Amazing marathon.

Little clips from yesterday afternoon's WFMU stream   Yep. Wrote a script to record 1 minute of WFMU's radio stream every 15 minutes, and had it run from about 3 to about 9 earlier on.

John Fahey sampling over Jeff Fucillo's weird "guitar" work   Yeah...weird lore behind this one, apparently John Fahey kinda barraged Jeff with samples through the monitors while recording Jeff's guitar work. Cool LP called Disturbed strings. Another page in John Fahey's book of lore. via Brian Turner's show.
Metal bands saying "Satan"   via Prof Dum Dum's show
"Phil Fucking Collins"   Some weird disc that came into the new bin. Here's a warped reworking of the only Phil Collins song I like, Easy Lover. Another track plays "all the hits at once". No idea where this disc came from, but it's great!

Smeared together oldies   Mostly stuff from the late 50s and early 60s, but then a visitor from the future rudely rushes in! Oh dear. So much for sticking to a theme.

Muslimgauze   A cut from the Speaker of Turkish record that nicely tosses around samples and electronic noise over eerie flute and tabla playing.
Spoek Mathambo   Whoa!!! He's got a CD out on Sub Pop. Good for him. Been into this S. African electronic awesomeness for a while now. Hope it takes off!

Leo Kupper   Yes!!!! Birdsong, 12-tone soprano (Barbara Zanichelli performs) and electronics!!! Cool new disc called Digital Voices, out on Pogus.
Shelley Hirsch & Uchihashi Kazuhisa   New disc called Duets 10 Years After. +++ anecdote of when Shelley Hirsch's hamburger was just too rare...BONUS!
Karen Dalton   1966 reissued by Delmore. Lordy, what a heartbreaker.

My favorite thought is folks on a road trip through New Jersey, who have no idea what WFMU is, tuning in to my show and thinking I'm having really bad technical difficulties.

Aw crap I missed the Satans segment. I know a band that would LOVE this kind of thing. Could you post a copy somewhere?

I liked the Windows start up video. Memories. Brian Eno did the Windows 95 start up sound and Robert Fripp did the Windows Vista start up sound.
