Woo! Woo! Hi Scott!
  3:04pm
pierre:

All Bonjours to the great Hoof&Mouth synphonia leader : the great Scott !
  3:04pm
Looms:

Happy Marathon hangover, Scott! Nice work yesterday.
  3:04pm
Danne D:

Great job on the 'thon Scott, as always. Thanks for all you do. And with that, I'm kicking back.
  3:05pm
Your Beard:

Cut off! Abandoned!
  3:08pm
listener james from westwood:

congrats, scott, and wfmu, for the mighty mass of marathon moolah!
  3:08pm
BSI:

Starship Commander Woo Woo is now the greatest name of anything forever. I have spoken.
  3:09pm
KevinfromBayRidge:

Another Stache-man! Welcome to the nabe.
  3:10pm
listener james from westwood:

on the off chance the gap might be narrowed further, i posted the corporate matching pledge list to my twitter feed. http://www.wfmu.org/marathon/matching.shtml
  3:10pm
Caryn:

Hello all! In a tired post-marathon haze over here, but listening in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
Scott:

morning all! mega-marathon lovebuzz happening over here
  3:12pm
Gord:

The gap continues to narrow — less than $2K to the $1.2M
  3:13pm
Carmichael:

Happy that FMU got the $$ it needed, upset that the single greatest band name EVER has been taken.

What're ya gonna do??
  3:14pm
Cheri Pi:

I have never been so excited about the end of a marathon, I kept my laptop on all night so I could check the final pledge amount in my dreams!!!
  3:15pm
BSI:

I will be aggressively re-naming my dog STARSHIP COMMANDER WOO WOO immediately upon arriving home this evening. It will all end in tears, I suspect.
  3:15pm
Danne D:

@James that's an inspired thing. Be a total trip if matching $ from Monsanto but FMU over the top.
  3:16pm
emmagineering:

so happy that it looks like 'fmu is gonna make the goal!
  3:16pm
pgw in mntclr:

the progress of that last 1% is straight-up asymptotic.
  3:17pm
Chico:

Killed It Last nighty Scott! Amongst Many other DJs that also in fact killed it!!! Great Marathon Finale!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm
jtm:

The band sounded tight last night, Kudos to you Mister Williams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
jtm:

There really are some amazing musicians in that band. Y'all are far too modest.
  3:18pm
Carmichael:

and boy oh boy, that X-Ray Burns is a *presence*. Subtlety is not his strong suit, eh?
  3:20pm
Danne D:

X.Ray is an FMU classic :)
Anyway, really now kicking back, enjoy the show.
  3:20pm
Cheri Pi:

BSI-since you're naming the dog-I'll call the cat Starship Commander woowoo. And he'd better act the name.
  3:22pm
listener james from westwood:

i want to see one of our people who is laboring behind the lines, in the grim depths of halliburton, channel a mouse's worth of their evil money to a better cause.
  3:23pm
Mike East:

Yes - last night's performances were not to be missed. Ken dressed as Cher is burned in by brain. The sailor caps for the audience were an awesome addition, too. Great job, Scott and everyone who made it happen!
  3:26pm
Dervish:

Is this Jones & X-Ray from yesterday?!?
  3:30pm
Van in DC:

Missed the finale last night. Hope pictures will be posted somewhere someday.
  3:31pm
Doug S.:

Van, the ON AIR light just arrived... FROM NEW ZEALAND!!!! You didn't just adopt the studio fixture, you bought it. Bless you Brother Van!
  3:31pm
Aimless:

This is awful
  3:33pm
Van in DC:

Awesome, Doug!
  3:34pm
listener james from westwood:

Van, check Flickr; there's an FMU photo pool there IIRC.
  3:35pm
Skirkie:

I think there's still videos on ustream too.

Anything for WFMU GTDS Studio P :)

Ah: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wfmuish/.
Some might eventually show up here too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfmu/
  3:37pm
Van in DC:

Thanks! Maybe the front page will have linkies to them. Actually I didn't even check for that...
  3:39pm
dc pat:

congrats Scott. Great Marathon.
  3:40pm
KP:

Van! You missed Julie? She stole the show, no kidding. I just happened to think of it being on video. She really belted out her Adam
  3:40pm
kat330:

@Skirkie: Do you have a link to the big bash videos? We turned off at the halfway point approx. (got to see Irwin, heh!), and I listened to audio only for the remainder, but I'd love to see Ken as Cher. :)
  3:40pm
kat330:

And yes, Scott and all, you did such a fine job!
  3:43pm
Van in DC:

@KP - yep, I missed the entire thing. Glad to hear it all went fantastically well though!

Note that if you're paging through that WFMUish pool on Flickr, they'll generally look better in Flickr's "light box" view (largeish, on a black background). Just click on the little magnifying glass icon when you're viewing the first photo, then page through them from there.

F'rinstance, you can start with what looks like the most recent photo, from John D.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jdalton/6956399919/in/pool-576156@N22/lightbox/

and then delve back in time from there.
  3:44pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Scott: You could teach a Master Class on Hoof N Mouth Sinfonia band leading. Excellent job.
  3:45pm
noeems:

Hi there everyone! I've been stuck on the Eurostar near 4 hours and scott's show helps me pass the time! Thank goodness for fmu.
  3:45pm
joe:

WOOOO! Hall and Oates :). Great job Scott.
  3:46pm
Jeff:

Yeah, the band blew the roof off the joint! I just don't understand how anyone on staff is back at work already - you all need some quiet time at the calmness farm.
  3:46pm
Skirkie:

I was trying to get a link but my work computer is taking it's 3:30 nap. Caryn's got it up there.
  3:46pm
kat330:

Thanks, Caryn! This morning I tried the recently added link on the front page, and it just kept "transferring data" forever. So I just listened to the audio remainder.
  3:47pm
pierre:

yesterday when X-Ray Burns asked why the "Hoof&Mouth", i didn't understood because i was half asleep (around 03.30am here) so was there an answer to that question ?

@noeems : courage !
  3:47pm
dc pat:

jeeze this Pop. 1280 tune is nuts.
  3:47pm
joe:

The fact that Liz was on this morning blows my mind. That's a champ right there.
  3:48pm
joe:

@dc pat with you 100% on pop 1280
  3:48pm
KP:

Like $1200 away now, I think. Hard to juggle the sceens on iPhone. Might try to be one! I'll buy mysellf an espresso

  3:48pm
kat330:

We've endured a local weather-coaster: 70+-degrees last Thursday; deadly, violent tornadoes just up the road on Friday; then our first winter ice-snow of any accumulation this morning, Monday. I'd say March arrived less like a lion and more like Cthulhu. Oh, and it's back to the 70s on this Wednesday.
  3:48pm
pierre:

Irwiiiiiiiiin covering Amanda THAT I SAW !
  3:49pm
Skirkie:

Irwin got some great sound out of that frying pan.
  3:49pm
Minnesota Jeff:

joe: She's glue, but you know, not the kind you'd find in asbury park - X.Ray Burns
  3:49pm
berry:

omg YES!! i love this
  3:49pm
dc pat:

With all the dough Liz makes at FMU, she better show up...
  3:49pm
Cheri Pi:

This is Brilliant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm

Hoof & Mouth was the hot disease of early 2001, when the band formed
  3:49pm
BSI:

holy crap. This must appear on youtube immediately. Or I will have a crisis.
  3:49pm
joe:

DO NOT HIT IRWIN IN THE HEAD WITH CHIPS AHOY! Irwin stole the show
  3:49pm
kat330:

@MN Jeff: Can you explain what that means, BTW?
  3:50pm
KP:

Pierre, im sure Scott has video of Julie, he's just jealous.
  3:50pm
Jeff:

Yeah, Irwin totally mined the Amanda catalog - with very special squonk from the band. Transcendent.
  3:50pm
Chris from DC:

Oh, man, this made my afternoon.
  3:50pm
barry:

Man, this was the highlight of HnM.
  3:50pm
KP:

Irwin was awesome.
  3:52pm
pgw in mntclr:

my 2 cents: the dual guitar work on "death valley '69" was absolutely fantastic
  3:52pm
Jace:

I'm sitting in EWR waiting to go home so I put FMU on the phone and BAM! I'm flashing back to last night and ducking Irwin/Amanda cookies.
  3:52pm
KP:

$1001.32 to go.
  3:52pm
Caryn:

This was great, but Keili doing the Kate Bush dance was my highlight. Of course, then someone posted the link to Noel Fielding doing the Kate Bush dance in drag and with backing dancers to mimic the video effect, and that became the highlight of the morning.
  3:52pm
pierre:

i also enjoyed Wuthering Heights for some reasons.
  3:53pm
Minnesota Jeff:

@kat330: I am assuming it either referred to Glue that you would huff, or a slang term for male ejaculate. X.Ray Burns tends to go blue with his material.
  3:53pm
pierre:

(boom @Caryn — same time thoughts)
  3:53pm
kat330:

Wuthering Heights was a highlight for us as well.
  3:54pm
dc pat:

yeah Death Valley 69 was kicking. very cool
  3:54pm
kat330:

@MNJ: Ah, okay. It sailed over us last night.
  3:55pm
dc pat:

ok, am I stupid or something? How'd I not realize Irwin was covering Amanda?? That's the way my brain works sometimes--total disconnect.
  3:55pm
KP:

Less than 1G.
  3:55pm
Skirkie:

$856.29
  3:55pm
Caryn:

Joe doing "Black Dog" was fantastic too, as was Scharpling's duo of songs.
  3:56pm
Doug S.:

We are within one tenth of one percent from surpassing the goal. Or, as Andrés Cantor would say: http://bit.ly/xeAnM9
  3:56pm
kat330:

From what I saw of you on the playlists yesterday, DC Pat, you were feeling no pain! :)
  3:56pm
Skirkie:

You can even get that kind of rent around here.
  3:57pm
dc pat:

yeah, but even still, I should have caught that one...hey wait a minute, what'd I say??
  3:57pm
Parq:

For the record, the consensus of the phone room was that Amanda's Televison take was the finest musical moment, that Keili was the MVP, and that Irwin gets a special award for out of control awesomeness.
  3:57pm
pgw in mntclr:

if you let me sleep in the studio for a month, i can put you guys over the top
  3:57pm
Skirkie:

$626.29 holy shit, it's happening.
  3:57pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Clay Pigeon doing "Freedom" was fantastic. Great thing about Clay is that there was no irony. Plus he playd his own guitar.
  3:58pm
kat330:

Well, i realize no one around has anything left to pass around, but folks who can should consider donating to the Red Cross for the tornado victims around here. They were truly devastating, and we were lucky to be narrowly missed.
  3:58pm
robyn:

i now need wfmu less for the radio, and more for the compulsive meter clicking experience.
  3:58pm
joe:

The Clay song was great
  3:59pm
kat330:

@Parq: YES, the Amanda "Venus de Milo" WAS the best! Forgot to mention I woke up this morning with that as an earworm. :)
  3:59pm
pgw in mntclr:

yeah, Amanda really owned the room during her song
  4:00pm
Cecile:

I listened to most of it.
Where can I find visuals?
  4:00pm
Caryn:

How could I forget Clay? That was awesome! The minute he began playing it, I was "OMG, someone is doing Freedom!" Then, when I noticed it was CLAY doing Freedom, I could've died from the perfection of the moment.
  4:00pm
Parq:

Oh, and we all thought that X-Ray was -- well -- he was -- uh --you know, he -- well, we really don't know what he was, but damn, wasn't he just?
  4:01pm
Cecile:

I liked it all, but Clay really blew me away with his song. He's a good guitar player!

@DC Pat: Heh, it was mostly the all caps and punctuation.
J.T. and I so enjoyed the chance to see all the DJs (well, many, and we'll catch the rest of the video later), especially at play playing music. A thought for future newbies to the marathon: If you had some such event PRIOR to the beginning of fundraising, might you charm more money from folks?

Great show lastnight Scott!!! Well done everybody!!!!
  4:18pm
Carmichael:

Scott, you should play Monty Python's "The Money Song" as a celebration!
  4:18pm
Robert:

Sort of anticlimactic, isn't it? Like the car got pushed over the finish line after everyone left the racetrack.
  4:19pm

ha, Duane and his glass of Hennessey.

Seriously, you have to have the cow give birth to a giraffe when Bryce makes his goal next year.

Robert: No.
  4:20pm

Or was it Courvousier? He was acting like the Lady's man ....
  4:21pm

Or like shooting the winning free throw or penalty kick after time has expired.

AWESOME!!

He said Hennesey.

He was, lol! Workin' the crowd.

Nice multibestial image, Cecile.

@Carmichael: he said it was Hennessey, but some people on the comments board were convinced it was Courvoisier.
  4:22pm
KP:

I arranged with my brother the lawyer that my pledges will still get paid if my wife kills me.
  4:22pm
Cecile:

Doug S., someone suggested it Friday and we were all gutted when it didn't happen
  4:23pm
Robert:

I think the best suggestion, and easiest to animate, for what the cow should do is tip over -- preferably on its back rather than its side. Really wasted cow.
  4:23pm
Bas, NL:

Anyone told SM Ken about hitting the goal? Or is he still out cold?
  4:24pm
Cecile:

Scott, can you explain your outfit for you song? I have my theories, but I figured you should say your piece first.

CONGRATS, BAS!
  4:24pm
Doug S.:

He's already Tweeted it, Bas. Hey, congrats to you!
  4:24pm
kat330:

Bas, you be the boss of swagland!
  4:24pm
Danne D:

Btw, congrats on Barcelona, Bas :)
  4:24pm
Caryn:

Ken spent the night partying with sailors (I assume), so for all we know, he's just now waking up on a destroyer somewhere.
  4:25pm
Cheri Pi:

YES WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scott-your dog isn't wagging its tail because you sir, are still behind. Ken is threatening an ass whooping from what I understand.
  4:25pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Scott: What prompted the mid Sinfonia shave?
  4:26pm
Robert:

It could've been even more anticlimactic...like a month later someone realizes there'd been a miscalculation and they were 5% over goal. It could happen...like when the station thermometer read 82% and then was adjusted backward to 80% because of a correction.
  4:26pm
kat330:

@Cheri Pi: But the front page didn't wag either, at least not when I looked.
  4:26pm
Bas, NL:

@Danne D: Say WHAT!?
  4:27pm
Danne D:

Didn't they say that last night or did I imagine that?
  4:28pm
Danne D:

(it's possible since I totally didn't realize Scott shaved his beard last night either)
  4:28pm
kat330:

It was on the audio this morning, so you didn't dream it.
  4:28pm
Bryan:

Congrats on the goal! Well done, all.

And Scott, you have heard this sometime in the last few days, haven't you?

  4:28pm
Looms:

@Bas: have you put a request for a few days off so you can go to Barcelona yet?
  4:28pm
Cecile:

You know, one year my husband's check was screwed up for the final four months of that year., and they didn't catch the underpayment until after Christmas - when we could have used it. But that was by no means anticlimactic.
  4:28pm
Carmichael:

Yeah, I'm not getting any wagging, either. And I'ver NEVER been able to see the dots on the marathon map. IE 7.0. No big deal, despite what Wet Blanket Robert says.
  4:28pm
Bas, NL:

Oww man... i passed out behind my laptop at about 4am...
  4:29pm
other david:

I believe they did say that! Congrats Bas! What a way to find out :)
  4:29pm
Danne D:

Um, Bas you won the Barcelona drawing :)
  4:29pm
Looms:

Hey! You didn't know?!
  4:29pm
Cecile:

which is what time, bas? August 2013 here?
  4:30pm
Danne D:

LOL - glad I got out of my self-imposed comment slow-down to tell you Bas :)
  4:30pm
Skirkie:

Ha ha you didn't hear that?
  4:30pm
Cecile:

what a nice thing to find out!
  4:31pm
kat330:

If you've never been to Barthelona, Bas, you'll love it! Gaudi, not gawdy.
  4:31pm
Stanley:

Congrats Bas, it couldn't have gone to a better fella
  4:31pm
Bas, NL:

WOW!!!!! Oh, that's so great guys!!! I had not heard before!! Fantastic!! And for sure i'm going!!!
  4:32pm
Cheri Pi:

We need IT stat on the dog's lack of tail wag up in here
  4:33pm
kat330:

Perhaps Kenzo is taking a WELL-deserved break on the tech biz?
  4:34pm
Cecile:

bas, email station Manager Ken, I'm sure he has deets. Or Joe McGasko.
  4:34pm
pierre:

@Bas : you're learning it here? On Scott's show ?
  4:35pm
Bas, NL:

I've been to Barcelona once.. i LOVE the city, and now with Primavera.. awesome!
  4:35pm
robyn:

If I don't get the tail-wagging customer service I require, I will demand, DEMAND my money back!
  4:36pm
kat330:

Awww, that's truly perfect, Bas!
  4:36pm
Bas, NL:

@Cecile: Will do! Thanks Cecile!
  4:37pm
Bas, NL:

@pierre: Yes!! Big surprise!
  4:37pm
Fiveash:

$1.2 Mil! Thanks/congratulations everybody. Thanks especially to Scott for once again wrangling the motley collection of weirdos known as the Hoof & Mouth into doing mostly passable renditions of such a vast array of tunage.
  4:38pm
pierre:

Whao do you hear that Scott, tonight your show is GOOD NEWS !
  4:38pm
Caryn:

Oh, Bas, I thought you knew. But since you fell asleep 2 hours before they announced it... Anyway, congrats! Ken was saying that it was going to save WFMU money, because the plane ticket would be cheaper from the Netherlands to Spain than from the US to Spain :)
So you're a worthy winner, and you're helping keep WFMU on budget! Nice!
  4:39pm
Parq:

Bas, it's true. Even the guys in the phone room were happy for you. And think how much money FMU will save on airfare; hell, they could send you by train for all I know.
  4:40pm
Parq:

Fiveash, everybody in the phone room was taken with 'Manda's Televsion take, but I want you to know we really dug your number, too.

This song is about Hittin it.

hey look it was reached!
hooray for dj faye!
and her super marathon artwork too
  4:44pm

As I understand it, everything about the $1.2 mil goes right up Ken's nose, so I imagine he won't be making any appearances for a good long while.

Ken's a pill man.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Who'll be the WFMU DJ to play "Looks Like We Made It" from Barry Manilow?
  4:46pm
Steve L:

Alice Coltrane! I just told a friend last week that this is what I want played at my funeral. I didn't think it was on DVD.
  4:47pm
Parq:

KfHP, that would be Clay, I dare say.
  4:47pm

Tanqs Parq! Agreed that Amanda kicked ass on that Television song. Wondering if we can use whatever is raised beyond the goal to pay off the Jersey City cops to make themselves scarce so we can kill Snooki?

Extra num-nums for Kenzo!
  4:50pm

@Fiveash alas it's like the medusa, you cut off the snooki and two more will grow in its place! The media is mostly in the business of creating more snookis.
  4:52pm
other david:

I think the extra cash should be put to a worthy cause, such as spreading it on the SUW bed and having Ken roll around on it, while wearing his vinyl centurion outfit - and then having the image immortalised in .gif form

True enough. I've never seen this Snooki character, but I suspect if I did, I wish to be turned to stone

Seriously, when will Ken make a public statement to the potato-eating proletariat? He's pretty darn smug in his silence. Or he's at the record smelter creating a new outfit.

Scott -- great show!

An Egyptian deity with anger-management issues was keeping me off the comments this afternoon, but at least I was able to listen real-time and hear the goal-busting moment.

BTW, just for the record, @Caryn@4:38 and @Parq@4:39, I *think* Primavera Fest pays for that.
