  12:19pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Oh no, it's not like any of the snow is still on the ground or anywhere. It all melted. But at least we had some semblance of winter.
  12:20pm ndbob:

And no snow in North Dakota....... wonder who the K-C-ettes really are

Ooh ooh! It took me awhile to get around to seeing The Triplets of Belleville, but when I did, I asked myself, "What took ya so long, Wendy?" What a sweet and fascinating film.

Wendy. Had some lovely Taleggio last night put me in mind of Raclette.
  12:41pm Van in DC:

Oh, hi there
  12:43pm glenn:

don't forget the picture at the top, b/p.
  12:44pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Brian, Taleggio is one of my favorite cheeses in the world. Mmm! I like Raclette, too, but more for melting or cooking than table use (although it's not a bad table cheese). If you like Taleggio, seek out Brescianella Stagionata. It's from Lombardia, Italy and is sort of like a smaller Taleggio, but I find it more yeasty and sweet (milky sweet, not candy sweet) than pungent. Fabulous cheese.
  12:45pm still b/p:

I did forget the teen scene trio. 4....4 playlist pictures of 3. And 1 of 4.
  12:48pm Brian en Angleterre:

Wendy, will do. Do not need much encouragement. My next door neighbour brought some cheese back from his last visit to his relatives in Italy. They make their own cheese. Very good. You can only dream of doing this, it is still rural enough there to achieve this.
  12:51pm Sleepless Holly in NC:

Oh my gosh. I can't listen now, have to go get a haveaheart trap for the LOUD & FIESTY critters escaping the winter weather under my house, but what an amazing playlist! Amazing! I can't wait to listen later. Billy Tipton Memorial Quartet, Boswell Sisters, Charming Hostess, beyond cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm charlie:

thanks, Holly, you're a peach.
you could borrow one of our traps if you want!
  12:53pm Brian en Angleterre:

Chad & Jeremy, a wild card, Charlie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm charlie:

Weren't they girls?
  12:57pm Brian en Angleterre:

Two English chaps who jumped on the Brit bandwagon in the 60s. Think Peter & Gordon, Crispian St Peters who said he was going to be bigger than Elvis whoever he is!!
  12:57pm glenn:

Wingfield’s World made me miss the rural world inhabited by my grandmother. One line, in which a local counsels Walt on how to handle unwanted critters, was startlingly reminiscent of her: “You get one of those humane traps – it’s called a Havahart Trap – and you trap the ’coon in the humane trap. Then you beat it to death with a shovel.” One of her favourite topics was beating rodents to death with a shovel. She was worried that if I wasn’t prepared to acknowledge the need to kill, that I wouldn’t get very far in this world – a worry that Walt’s neighbours share for him.
a bit out of context, but trust me it's very funny.
  1:00pm Brian en Angleterre:

Someone asked me the difference twixt a spade and a shovel the other day. I thought it was bleedin' obvious.
  1:07pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I used to sell coffee with Merrill (Tune-Yards)! I love her and her music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm charlie:

Sounds funny, Glenn.
Yeah, look at a deck of cards for spade shape!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm charlie:

I am in the mood for cheese, actually...
besides the cheese I play here...
  1:10pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Charlie, you're in the right state if you hanker for a hunka cheese.
  1:11pm Gary Mitchell:

intoxicating
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm charlie:

You're intoxicated already, Gary?
Welcome aboard!
  1:12pm glenn:

The only difference between a shovel and a spade is the scooping tip. The very bottom edge on a spade is completely flat. This is surprising, because the spade shape in cards looks like the head of a shovel, which comes to a pointed tip in the middle. Another difference between spades and shovels is their intended use.
  1:13pm Gary Mitchell:

usually don't indulge this early in the day
  1:14pm Gary Mitchell:

Very Burt
  1:15pm Sleepless Holly in NC:

@Charlie - thank you!
@glenn -
I would've loved your Gram, sounds like my Gram. She taught me the importance of humanely killing critters that needed to be killed (generally with a shovel) -& also that standing on a chair, skirts up, screaming like a baby if a spider is spotted within a ten foot radius is both irrational & totally OK ;-) Also said sighting earns one a chocolate pudding reward for not keeling over altogether.
  1:16pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I love Dionne. And this is a Bacharach/David song I never heard before! Thanks, Charlie!

  1:17pm glenn:

no, that's a line from a play called letter from wingfield farms. nothing to do with me. i lifted the whole passage from the montreal gazette.
  1:21pm Gary Mitchell:

walk your dog on the wild side
  1:27pm listener james from westwood:

never saw the social network, but when scala's creep was used during the first cinema teaser, i smiled broadly in my fmu-listener way.
  1:30pm Doug S.:

Charlie, your talkover music is always so exquisite.
  1:31pm Dan in Seattle:

Loving this show.
  1:38pm still b/p:

I looked up Miriam Makeba's obit about 30 minutes ago.
  1:40pm Sleepless Holly in NC:

Charlie the playlist has me salivating!

@Glenn, no matter, it's a lovely, relatable anecdote.
Who's the playwright? I'm only familiar with Judith Thompson & Michel Tremblay, as far as Canadian playwrights go.
  1:40pm Webhamster Henry:

I was waiting for the Free Design....
  1:42pm Doug S.:

Insanely wonderful trove of Makeba rarities and gems here: http://bit.ly/yX4bov

Nice, thanks, Doug. I will do some good grazin' at home later.
  1:45pm ndbob:

Thanks Doug!
  1:50pm still b/p:

Collage sounded like BOC's Godzilla! Or was that already pointed out?
  1:52pm Dervish:

This very Laura Veirsish. It's like there's three of her.
  1:57pm ndbob:

and now the best girl group record ever!
  1:59pm ndbob:

great show Charlie!

  2:02pm listener james from westwood:

enjoyed it, charlie! thanks mightily!
  2:03pm Michael:

Yea great stuff as always - cheers Charlie!
  2:04pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Now that your show is over, I can leave the house and go grocery shopping. I didn't wanna miss any of it!
  2:05pm still b/p:

..and have lunch. Couldn't slide away from this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm charlie:

Adios. Thanks again. See you soon!
  2:37pm Robert:

Great show, I enjoyed! Dank je wel!
  4:21pm Brian en Angleterre:
