For hippy noise, maybe "Bad Bad World" by Ravers Going Underground. I remembered it as a cool thrift shop find from college, but the internet informed me that it was in fact obscure German psychsploitation or something.

Caryn:
Just read a news story about a woman who was caught trying to steal stuff from a gas station by hiding it under her skirt. What makes it interesting is the amount of stuff she managed to get under there: 4 1-gallon canisters of motor oil, 14 2-pound coffee packets, 8 bags of meatballs, several packets of beef filet strips, some sauna products and candy. No wonder they caught her. How the hell do you move with that stuff under your skirt?!?
10:51am
Caryn:
While lambs are known for their silence, dead goats are apparently loud.
Was any of this shit played by hippies in 1968? No. We were to busy writing Healter Skelter in blood on walls. (play some of Charlie's music - or else)
10:58am
Cecile:
All the hippies in the Upper Peninsula were listening to Santana and the Temptations as far as I could gather.
11:00am
Detroit Mac:
In the lower mitten you heard a lot of Jeff Beck - Savoy Brown - and Johnny Winter.
11:00am
Cecile:
I was like, seven at that time.
I leaned more toward the South Pacific soundtrack myself.
11:00am
andymorphic:
how about some polpo vuh....that is what my hippi ideals are made of
11:01am
Caryn:
@PSA: thanks for that! Still, that was way easier: only one big package. How do you keep 4 gallon canisters in order under your skirt while moving? Unless she had Oompa Loompas under there carrying the stuff for her...
11:03am
Caryn:
Agree with Cecile. I think some Santana, Arlo Guthrie, the Grateful Dead, Peter Paul & Mary etc. might be more "original hippie" noise.
11:03am
Hugo:
The ultimate hippie noise thang:

11:04am

she probably had a reinforced garment under her skirt.

Caryn:
I wonder what Obama tried to find on wikipedia to make him back down? Must have been something important...
@PSA: I know! It's sad to find out that Willy Wonka has been reduced to this after retiring and leaving the factory to Charlie: shoplifting in drag. Should've saved some factory stock to himself for a rainy day. Damn economy! See what you've done to a previously mighty candy manufacturer!

11:10am

11:10am
Michele:
Aphrodite's Child
11:13am
Rasmus:
Hey it did happen! the gross blood stain on the sheet, when michael fassbender (jung) finally has sex with Keira... - in my opinion that was a true (but subtle) cronenberg signature
Not disgusting enough Rasmus! It was blood on cloth - that aint Cronenberg!!
11:16am
JT:
GURU GURU - STONE IN
and there is a comedian in maine named bob marley. don't play him.
11:17am
BSI:
Cronenberg set a pretty high standard with that final "reveal" scene in DEAD RINGERS.
11:18am
Carmichael:
Frijid Pink, Ken, man.
11:19am
Caryn:
Now I wonder if the disembodied head isn't Ken's homage to Cronenberg's "Crash"... Vaughan did have that obsession with celebrity car crashes, including the Mansfield one.
11:20am
Cecile:
I saw Scanners. It was about all the Cronenberg I could handle.
So, Ken, are you going to supplement your hippie noises with some Howard Shore Cronenberg soundtrack pick?
11:23am
Rasmus:
that was not cloth! the soiled sheet was woven of female hysteria and European puritanism...
11:23am
Cecile:
see Ken, it was a good story, and just exploding heads. No creepy closeups.
I guess we all have to grow up, and being NC-17 in this country does not pay the bills
11:24am
Carmichael:
If so, why not play some hippie dialogue from Wild in the Streets?
11:25am
Caryn:
Or the aria from Madame Butterfly? That would kinda fulfil the requests for drag noise too, considering we can just think about Jeremy Irons in drag.
11:26am
Luke:
This song is putting me to sleep. How can I fight SOPA if I'm asleep?
11:27am
JT:
homozexualz!
11:27am
glenn:
or you could watch the borgias, which has jeremy irons more or less in drag
11:29am
Caryn:
@Glenn: true, but I doubt Ken can quickly rustle up some music from "The Borgias"
11:30am
Caryn:
Or that we'd want to hear it.
11:30am
Carmichael:
Or Missouri Breaks, which has Brando in drag.
11:31am
Caryn:
Or Tango & Cash, which has Kurt Russell in drag.
11:32am
Detroit Mac:
How about the Frut - Famous for passing around at their gigs, jugs of Boones Farm spiked with whatever hallucinations they could get. They did Native American Drag.
11:32am
Carmichael:
Or that Thanks Wong Foo movie, which has everyone in drag.
11:33am
Cecile:
Or Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which has Elrond, General Zod and Memento dude in drag.
I like The Borgias. the few episodes I've seen. Lately been burning through Breakinf Bad. I relate to Walter. Except I dont cook meth.
11:34am
Marmalade Kitty:
Absolutely splendid!
11:34am
Carmichael:
I relate more to Mike.
11:35am
Cecile:
caryn, you can substitute Red Skull or Agent Smith if you like.
I want to start watching Justified. I love Wallace Goggins from the Shield. It looks good.
11:36am
glenn:
breaking bad is dynamite. walter is a very lovable psychopath.
11:37am
Caryn:
I'm grateful I don't really relate very much to anyone in "Breaking Bad". Still, it's a great show. And Bryan Cranston & Aaron Paul have both been in drag at the "Breaking Bad" cast parties, so it ties nicely in with the current topic.
I'm seeing sponsors of SOPA and PIPA dropping out, but no confirmation of either being withdrawn; Obama can't withdraw them, can only threaten to veto if it passes. No confirmation he's done that, either. ???
11:42am
Dan B From Upstate:
Walter's not a psychopath? You must still be early in the show, Ken.
11:44am
Cecile:
I'm not so excited about Breaking Bad. Meth hasn't been kind to certain members of my family.
11:44am
glenn:
in keeping with today's theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHzdsFiBbFc
11:44am
Teh Governments:
As long as we're big enough to take care of you, we're big enough to boss you around however we feel like it whenever want to. Big businesses will always have the big money and huge legal departments to game the system in their favor, DUHHH. The only way to head off shit like SOPA and PIPA at the pass is have a government small enough that it's impossible to ask it to monitor the incredible amount of detail those laws mandate.
11:44am
Caryn:
Jeff Bridges in "Thunderbolt & Lightfoot"?
@Ken: agree with others. Certainly from around season 3 onwards, it starts to become clear Walter is psychotic. (no spoilers, but just saying)
Im halfway through Season 2 Dan. Walter's a criminal, a murderer, but not a psychopath. He doesnt take pleasure in hurting or manipulating people. He has a conscience.
11:47am
Bad Ronald:
Where does one purchase an official Ken Freedman loincloth?
I think the big question is: will Walter die of cancer or have a violent death? It would be ironic, if they pulled a "Six Feet Under" surprise on us and had him die accidentally.
12:00pm
Marmalade Kitty:
I thought this was great til I found out it tATu!

12:02pm

@MKitty: agree with you 100 %
12:03pm
Marie:
Does anyone know if there was a Ken Russell movie in which John Lithgow got himself up in drag? I vaguely remember seeing some movie that was kind of scary/mystery-laden in which he did that, and he was fearsome! 80's, 90's....
