	7:16am Dave B: @ Chuck - from song facts: The sheet music credits it as follows: Thirteen Women, by Dickie Thompson, Featured & Broadcast by Harry Leader And His Orchestra, published by Cinephonic Music Co. of London and Darby Music Co of New York. It sold for one shilling and was copyrighted in 1954. According to Haley's biographer John Swenson, in April of that year, Haley and his band together with session drummer Billy Guesack recorded "Thirteen Women" and "Rock Around The Clock" at Decca's New York studio. Swenson describes it as "A weird novelty tune about the aftermath of an atomic holocaust that leaves one man and 13 women alive." As might be expected from its credits, it is not a Rock 'n' Roll song, and might be described as a down tempo swing number. Haley's vocals are very laid back. 	8:08am Elwyn: The way we listen to music has changed a LOT even before the iPod came. These days, I am always multitasking while listening to music. Yet, I still listen to entire albums at a time unlike most young folk these days. However, when I buy a CD, I rip it and probably never look at it more than once every few years. Heck, 5 years ago I thought I'd never listen to radio again, let alone to a radio station on the other side of the planet.

	8:11am Chuck: I was in the same position 10 years ago, Elwyn. Commercial radio was such a horror I couldn't stand it. Then somehow I found WVKR here in my area and said, "Now this is how radio SHOULD be!"

	8:13am Jay/ London: @ Elwyn i still put lps and 45 on as i think the sound is better then cds and i try and get new lps if poss over cds and yes never though i would be tuning in to a station over the pond over British stations

(which is all kinds of amazing BTW) and B) I rarely play a CD anymore..... I burn it onto my laptop and then it will come up in the shuffle. If I want to listen to music at home, I put on an LP

	8:27am jeff p: I"m on the side of the party that cant' understand the desire to listen to all the scratchiness and reduced audio quality and skipping of vinyl just to get the RIAA curve applied to the music.

Especially if it was a 45 I grew up with--when I hear the songs without the scratching, somethings clearly missing. I guess it's the scratches. @Meghan: what a great time last week! THANKS! I got home around 9am Sat,, then worked on a shed all day. Good times!

	8:48am Jim Devoid: Once worked for Morrisey in the late 80's/early 90's (local roadie gig). Turned me off with bad working conditions. That's probably why I never gave the Smiths a chance!

According to Haley's biographer John Swenson, in April of that year, Haley and his band together with session drummer Billy Guesack recorded "Thirteen Women" and "Rock Around The Clock" at Decca's New York studio. Swenson describes it as "A weird novelty tune about the aftermath of an atomic holocaust that leaves one man and 13 women alive." As might be expected from its credits, it is not a Rock 'n' Roll song, and might be described as a down tempo swing number. Haley's vocals are very laid back. 	8:08am Elwyn: The way we listen to music has changed a LOT even before the iPod came. These days, I am always multitasking while listening to music. Yet, I still listen to entire albums at a time unlike most young folk these days. However, when I buy a CD, I rip it and probably never look at it more than once every few years. Heck, 5 years ago I thought I'd never listen to radio again, let alone to a radio station on the other side of the planet.
