  12:19pm
Van in Dallas:

Indeed. Let's go for 8-tracks next week? ;)
  12:22pm
pgw in mntclr:

that Pretenders song hit the spot...even with the unintentional loop, which i could have listened to for another 3 minutes.
  12:22pm
Doug S.:

Fighting for every dollar!
  12:23pm
glenn:

hey, what do you call a guy with no arms and legs lying in front of your door? (you'll never guess)
  12:23pm
Van in Dallas:

Thank you internet. You're bringing me Nazario Scenario for free, while at the exact same time also bringing me Maria Sharapova vs. Li Na over free internet TV.
  12:24pm

pgw in mntclr:

  12:31pm
Wild Guess:

  12:32pm
glenn:

awww. you guys. sniff.
  12:33pm
Alf from Upstate:

  12:44pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Now 82% . Common folks. To the 100% for Amanda and Give the drummer some.
  12:45pm
Doug S.:

Looks like you're now only $125 away from hitting the Magic 100. Tony Coulter nailed 100% yesterday. Let's make it 2 for 2 on Give the Drummer Radio!!
  12:46pm
Amanda:

Let's go all the way! Come on, stream supporters!
  12:50pm

  1:06pm
BDR:

If I give you money will you shut up and play music?
  1:09pm
Openminded Listener:

Meowwww.

But yeah, you should. And you will get your wish. No mic break is eternal.

A lot of us enjoy a music-banter mix.
  1:09pm
Dervish:

@BDR, will you put your money where their mouth ain't?
  1:16pm
Amanda:

Meowwwww! This raucous set should get people in a generous frame of mind
  1:18pm
Doug S.:

BDR, your comment reminds about one of the very best things about WFMU: It doesn't try to please everyone all the time. WFMU figures that listeners will appreciate a station that isn't afraid to be unappealing to some. Rather than insult listeners' intelligence by dumbing down everything, WFMU encourages people to TURN IT OFF if you don't like what you hear. Then come back later and see if you like it any better. I guarantee you that no other public broadcaster on the planet will take this approach.

Something well worth supporting, eh BDR?
  1:19pm
Amanda:

You can see my eyes. You can tell that I'm not lyin'.
  1:19pm
Openminded L.:

80% ---> 89% Maybe BDR inspired people.
  1:22pm
BDR:

Or he donated.
  1:24pm
OL:

If so, good for you -- and you got your wish!
  1:25pm
Doug S.:

Amanda is now ONLY SEVENTY-FIVE CLAMS away from hitting her goal!

Go BDR! Go Give the Drummer Radio lovers! Go WFMU! Go go dancing!
  1:33pm
glenn:

dope is now a verb?
  1:36pm
glenn:

well in that case - food my afternoon. stat.
  1:39pm
ndbob:

i'm hundreds of miles away from a real record store
  1:41pm
glenn:

yeah, but you're probably only about fifty feet away from a real grizzly bear. everything's relative.
  1:42pm
ndbob:

actually.. three miles away from several white buffalo
  1:42pm
Van in Dallas:

Or Bigfoot. All we have here in Texas is the chupacabra.
  1:44pm
glenn:

i have an irrational grizzly bear phobia.
  1:45pm
ndbob:

excellent show Amanda and Matt!... catch the rest on the archive
  1:45pm
Doug S.:

Van, what is a chupacabra? Anything like a capybara?
  1:46pm
Ike:

Grizzly bear phobias are pretty rational. Well, unless you're in downtown... what, Toronto? I guess there aren't too many of them there.
  1:46pm
listener james from westwood:

heh, never looked at it that way! but the chupacabra is no mere rodent.
  1:46pm
ndbob:

i'm a major capybara fan
  1:47pm
Dervish:

@glenn
You better steer clear of them irrational grizzlies then.
  1:47pm
listener james from westwood:

we have one at our local county zoo. very serene beast.
  1:48pm
glenn:

well, west toronto. i know it's irrational, but still, one hears stories.
  1:48pm
Van in Dallas:

The one supposedly found in Runaway Bay not long ago was on the golf course there...very close to my parent's house actually. Their house is on that golf course.
  1:51pm
Van in Dallas:

On a sports note, I trundled over to the Galleria here in downtown Dallas for lunch. They already have "World Champion Texas Rangers" painted on the ice rink in there. Talk about jumping the gun. http://www.galleriaiceskatingcenter.com/
  1:51pm
Amanda:

Many many thanks to pledgers David C. and Jeff P.! I'm so grateful to y'all. Keep the dollars coming.
  1:51pm
Ike:

24-14 149th St.

Also, hooray for Ernest Tubb! Yeah!
  1:52pm
pgw in mntclr:

i'm also a fan of the capybara
  1:52pm
pgw in mntclr:

...and Ernest Tubb too
  1:53pm
Van in Dallas:

On another sports note, Li Na just beat Maria Sharapova in straight sets. My torso lurking is now finished for today.
  1:53pm
Doug S.:

The Texas Rangers used to be my first baseball love, the Washington Senators.
  1:55pm
Amanda:

pgw, I love the capybara too! As well as the tapir.

Ike, thank you for the address! And it was good to see ya at the Thunk Tank meetup last evening.
  1:57pm
Amanda:

1 hour left, men and women. Rally 'round the Nazario Scenario flag to get us to 100%!!!
  1:57pm
glenn:

i knew ernest had recorded a lot of stuff, but bear family has at least four or maybe five box sets, each with at least five discs. it's unbelievable the amount of material there is.
  2:04pm
Amanda:

We have departed the realm of country music for the realm of girl group songs
  2:06pm
Ike:

Good to see you too, Amanda.
  2:06pm
Doug S.:

One hour left to pledge to WFMU in Amanda's honor. It's important to show WFMU and the world that Give the Drummer Radio can stand on it's own two legs and receive support during critical fund drives for the station. Other than occasional computer support from WFMU's full-time tech guru, Give the Drummer Radio is an entirely volunteer effort. YOUR SUPPORT endorses GTDR as a hybrid radio/stream experiment worth maintaining and expanding.

We create Give the Drummer Radio with open minds. You welcome it with open ears. We'll accept your contributions with open arms.
  2:10pm
Brian in UK:

  2:11pm

  2:26pm
Brian in UK:

There's only one Scott Williams.
  2:32pm
Amanda:

Amen to that
  2:33pm
listener james from westwood:

We got ape sounds, people. APE SOUNDS. How can you not pledge for this? What would Spazz do?
  2:34pm
Van in Dallas:

Well, only King Kong grunts could realistically follow up Munchin voices.
  2:34pm
Brian in UK:

Done it again. Small but perfectly formed.

Have you got my Kool & the Gang records?
  2:35pm
Doug S.:

Only $45 away from the goal now!
  2:36pm
Amanda:

  2:42pm
Van in Dallas:

For the 3rd time? Well...
  2:42pm

Brian in UK:

  2:46pm
Skirkie:

I wish. Not in this economy.
