  9:17pm
Rob from Maryland:

Oh, oh, oh, oh ....
  9:18pm
eastvanhalen:

Woot! Welcome back, Pseu.
  9:19pm
john:

Hey, way to come up with a Radiohead song I actually like (which I didn't know existed)! Kinda had a neat Julian Lennon vibe.
  9:20pm
PiLA:

I'm here for the meetup ...?
(funnier the second time around)
  9:21pm
pseu:

hello ike and listeners! we are in the first week of Shock and Awetober... "silently" raising some desperately needed $$ to keep the heat (literal and figurative) going here at WFMU. my show's playlist is have some tech issues to be resolved soon -- not sure if it'll be tonight, though. You can pledge your love and $$ support right at the top of the left side of this page. Your pledge WILL COUNT. Currently counting on my "old show" page if you're interested: http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/sb THANKS!

Lelia:

Yeah I must've missed that Radiohead song, 1997 was not a good year. Funny how some songs just surface out of the blue. Can't believe I missed that one.
  9:23pm
pseu:

john, SERIOUSLY, you don't own OK Computer?? BAD MAN. Get it today, yesterday, in 1997, just get it.
  9:24pm
pseu:

Way to thank one of my finest listeners, btw.
  9:25pm
pseu:

I thought I was way late to the party in 1999 when I recorded it on cassette. i still don't own the CD.
  9:27pm
john:

aww, shucks. Can't do it, even in the wayback machine. I sat down to listen to that record in 1997 and the third time I got up and walked away during Paranoid Android, I knew it was going to be a lost cause. Or maybe I was. Just couldn't be done. No Surprises was a pretty song, though.
  9:28pm
PB:

I'm with john on this one. Not a big Radiohead fan.
  9:30pm
Ike:

Is this out of phase or something?
  9:31pm
eastvanhalen:

Having a few problems with the pledge link losing information when the page refreshes the playlist, so heading over to the main pledge page.
  9:33pm
RedTruck:

Absolutely love the show tonight. Goes very well with dark beer, sweet potato fries and the monsoon outdoors. :)

Other 1997 releases that found more time on the hi-fi: Mag Earwhig!, Strung Behind The Sun, Dig Your Own Hole, F♯A♯∞, MMMBop. Just sayin'.

Tom ( In Gravesend ):

<<< peeled cherry tomatoes -- on toothpicks , dipped in bit of kosher salt, then dunked in dish of ABSOLUt with fresh dill soaking in it .. mm mm good and good set Pseu ! ! !

Speaking of Mag Earwhig!

  10:19pm
ADL:

Ah, Boo Radleys. They and Stereolab played a show at our cafeteria in college, and I was too young and confused to appreciate what we had...
  10:41pm
America:

I need a new CD
  10:43pm
eastvanhalen:

This song is so lovely...how the same band could have been responsible for Horse With No Name is baffling...(apologies to HWNN lovers, but that song is Kryptonite to me).
  10:43pm
pseu:

hahaha DAMN YOU
  10:46pm
pseu:

hey speaking of BAD TIMING, one of my listeners got caught up in a flame war 2 weeks ago, and sent me a letter all hurt and stuff. If that person is watching and not posting --- I've been trying to e-mail you back to let you know that you mistakenly thought a comment I made was directed towards you. IT WAS NOT. E-mail me (with a real address) to give me my 2 minutes on this. Pseu's Thing - no more drama. Tonight, anyway.
  10:47pm
Randy in NC:

Pseu, on the new Eleanor Freidberger CD, two tunes, My Mistakes, and I Won't Fall Apart on You Tonight are especially hook-y. Check 'em out.
  10:48pm
Randy in NC:

Hah how about that!
  10:48pm
America:

No drama? I was actually wondering awhile ago if Tamar was still subbing, and doing a spot-on impression.

Great tuneage as usual...
  10:50pm
eastvanhalen:

I missed all the drama that week -- I had to go out about an hour into the show. Holy jeebus, the comments! My partner was tickled to be made fun of on the air for spelling your name wrong, though.
  10:51pm
eastvanhalen:

I mean, embarrassed, because he felt like a total dweeb, but tickled.
  10:54pm
eastvanhalen:

Odds! Aw, thanks for the Vancouver love.
  10:57pm
pseu:

Thanks all will do as discussed....We have our winners for The Dead tickets. Thanks for your patronage of Pseu's Thing With A Hook.

pee- yew something died on the playlist -- YOU ALL! Come on -- how great is Veronica Falls?
  11:16pm
Randy in NC:

Great!
  11:16pm
pseu:

THANKS RANDY!
  11:17pm
eastvanhalen:

They're great, and I just looked at their website, and they're playing here next week!
  11:18pm
eastvanhalen:

Wonderful show tonite.
  11:18pm
some other guy:

RE: Veronica Falls
Every time (not very often) a band rehashes my favorite style ever and does it pretty damn well, part of me wants to hate them. I'm pretty sure that part of me is stupid. I do not have enough of this to sustain me until death. More should be good.
  11:29pm
eastvanhalen:

Um, Veronica Falls is "coming around here" if here=Vancouver, Portland, or Seattle. After that they're going to Europe. Mea culpa...
  11:30pm
PiLA:

is it Spleen Awareness week already?
  11:31pm
G:

Every Friday evening is Spleen Awareness Night. :-)
  11:33pm
Andrew:

that reminds me, when you mentioned the Cd skipping I was wondering if you guys have a CD repair machine? I have a JFJ & it's great. You guys have 10000s of CDs so you'd need one.

(I noticed the comments died after I first commented O_Q)
  11:34pm
Matt Berlyant:

I heard you were soliciting ATP comments? If so, here goes.

The really good and excellent: Portishead on Saturday night, Jeff Mangum, Earth, Public Enemy (despite horrid sound), Battles (ditto), Shellac (esp. at Asbury Lanes), Oneida, Thinking Fellers Local Union 282, Swans

The disappointing: Silver-Qluster, Deerhoof (plagued by poor sound), Chavez (ditto), The Horrors, Ultramagnetic MCs, Company Flow

The boring/not so good: Jim Thirwell's Manorexia, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra

Highlights of the weekend: Brooklyn Flea food carts, pinball museum, anything at Asbury Lanes (esp. Shellac), Bob Weston's orange pants, mini-golf, renting a beach bike, etc.

Nice playlist, BTW. I love the Radiohead, Richard Lloyd, Veronica Feels and Teenage Fanclub tracks.
  11:37pm
G:

Actually, the 10something/11something PM period on Friday often features the soused posters hour, so comment gaps are really an improvement.
  11:39pm
john:

Srsly, if you wanted to play Blue Kiss every week, I'd be prepared to fight anyone who complained. Especially if you mixed it up with Rush Hour every so often.
  11:43pm
pseu:

thnx for the review, Matt - pretty spot on from all accounts!
thanks all for supporting PTWAH and WFMU this week -- please continue to pledge til 12AM. xox
  11:53pm
G:

The coals are orange. Nearly time to grill the squirrel carcass. Another fine pop curation.
  12:01am
eastvanhalen:

And a tour de force to close the set. Damn, thanks Pseu.
  12:05am
Grill:

Rich wouldn't know. No organ experience at all.
