A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

so...like everything else it's complicated... Ultimately I think you're right, the goal is to consume less.

@ trouble : …and it breaks easily, that's why it stopped i guess, we people tend to break thing now, and buy replacements… make things last longer is a goal to me too.
@ Cheri Pi : if i find something, i'll let you know, i bought a bakelite ashtray, and it does the trick. It is quite easy to find around here (france), sometime it's expensive, sometimes not at all.

Phenolics are seldom used in general consumer products today due to the cost and complexity of production and their brittle nature. An exception to this overall decline is their use in small precision-shaped components where their specific properties are required, such as molded disc brake cylinders, saucepan handles, electrical plugs and switches and parts for electrical irons. Today, Bakelite is manufactured and produced in sheet, rod and tube form for hundreds of industrial applications in the electronics, power generation and aerospace industries, and under a variety of commercial brand names, including Garolite.

Ives initially displayed liberal political convictions and was a member of Hollywood Fights Back, a movement by entertainers in the late 1940s to counter the actions of the House Un-American Activities Committee in identifying Communists in the entertainment industry.[6] Ives was listed as being a member of a left-wing group in the Red Channels pamphlet, and was blacklisted by the government until he stood before the House Un-American Activities Committee, and convinced them otherwise. In the process, he named names and labeled several of his colleagues as Communists. This act allowed Ives to continue his work in the industry, and he would go on to work in both the music industry and the film industry.[1] He was accused of betraying his colleagues and political beliefs to save his career, however.
