A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  10:21am
Brian in UK:

Hello trouble and groovy listeners. I remember passing thru Paris in late July '68 onward to Biarittz changing train stations. All the action was over by then and a semblance of order restored. We had a few issues in London earlier that year. The name Daniel Cohn-Bendit (Dany le Rouge) rings a bell.
  10:28am
Bill W:

The Gainsbourg bio movie was OK... I'd have preferred a little more "showbiz," like when Bardot was singing "Comic Strip" in a bedsheet. (Opens at Film Forum in 2 weeks)
  10:30am
sugarwolf:

Ha, I was just going to ask when the Gainsbourg movie was coming out on DVD...
  10:30am

  11:08am

  11:13am
Jennique:

In the movie Bamboozled one of the characters who was a tv exec had a hand written sign on top of his tv that said FEED THE IDIOT BOX. Don't feed the idiot box. It's already too fat.
  11:15am
Brian in UK:

Funny you should mention 'bout the TV. I was listening to David Sedaris the other day on BBC RADIO. He was talking about when he was young a family in his town did not have TV because the father did not BELIEVE in TV. Then he spied on them to see what they did like talk to each other at mealtimes and suchlike. Funny but scary.
  11:17am
Brian in UK:

PS love the long set. Haircut 100 takes me back. Bigger hair than country
  11:21am
erella:

Hi Trouble, Good morning. I love shuggie Otis, I know nothing about telebossa, so I looked them up. Their FB group only has 25 people liking them. The guy sounds like Caetano Veloso. Love the Rs he rolls. www.facebook.com/pages/Telebossa/234487406565128
  11:23am
trouble:

erella that is so sad, only 25 peeps. it makes me want to join facebook just to be their friend. o the pressure...
  11:24am
Bill W:

Entering my fifth week of living without TV! Perhaps it accounts for why I am not living in terror of Michele Bachmann.
  11:35am
trouble:

i have yet to see michele speak on tv but i still live in fear of her. apparently she had to leave the podium every commercial break for the fox thing to check her makeup!
  11:36am
Jennique:

Sounds like the beginning of Someone's Knocking at the Door. Ironic that I moved from Greenpoint, Brooklyn too.
  11:36am
Brian in UK:

You're hitting the spot trouble, I only played Good Times the other day. Bought Four Sail the same day I saw Easy Rider so we're on to '69 now.
Lord Reiths principle for TV was to eduate and entertain, that's a rough translation.
  11:39am
trouble:

thank you jennique! i was wondering...
  11:52am
postmanpaul:

Hey Trouble! Hey commentators! Late again but looking forward to catching up with a little extra-curricular :")
  11:53am
Handsome Harry:
