  3:13am
fred von helsing:

Rats! I missed Veruca Salt! I saw an interview with them, it sounds like they're never EVER gonna reunite, there's some kind of crazy bitterness going on between the gals. It must be Boy Trouble (TM)?
  3:16am
Marmalade kitty:

Hola Julie, everybody!!!!!!! :)
  3:17am
Julie:

Hi there Kitty! Hi Mark & Fred! Hope I didn't scare everyone off with Cherry Pie.
  3:18am

  3:24am
Julie:

Sorry I have fulfilled my quota of pie songs for the evening
  3:25am
fred von helsing:

That's the new all-gal supergroup! There's some crappy vids on YT but they released an MP3 last week. Wikipedia: The group consists of Carrie Brownstein, Mary Timony, Rebecca Cole and Janet Weiss .. ex-members of bands like Sleater-Kinney, Helium and The Minders.
  3:25am
Julie:

ohhh okay yeah I have heard about them
  3:26am
KP:

This sounds like Mary Black, which is good, very good.
  3:38am
Ike:

Just tuned in -- sounds good! Oh gosh, I forgot about Milla. Real flashback there.
  3:44am

  4:24am
fred von helsing:

Hey listener mark what's yer faceborg name ?
  4:26am
listener mark:

I was born and raised in Kearny, NJ. Something more valuable then money or prestige.
  4:27am
Julie:

I got lost in Kearny once. It was really scary.
  4:28am
listener mark:

Why?
  4:29am
Julie:

the area I saw was just really industrial. And also flooded at the time.
  4:33am
fred von helsing:

There was crazy flooding in Little Falls one year, we took a boat around to check it out, I guess it was the Passaic River? Ya gotta love NJ tho, you can dock your boat at a bar and go fetch package goods
  4:36am
listener mark:

South Kearny !
  4:56am
listener mark:

Julie, you are the best ! Syd Barrett ! Shine on you crazy Diamond !
  4:57am
Julie:

My love affair with Syd goes back almost as far as mine with Jim Morrison & Ray Davies
  4:59am
listener mark:

Pioneers ! Years ahead of their time.
  5:12am
fred von helsing:

great stuff :)
  5:13am
Matt from Springfield:

Good morning Julie!
Early Frost is sounding great--were they mostly a prog band?
  5:15am
Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, Cherry Pie finally makes an appearance! Where did you get that CD/LP? The Pidge? :D
  5:16am
Julie:

@Matt Mp3, baby! Kurt played it Friday, but I felt kinda committed to it by then.
  5:19am
Matt from Springfield:

All we need is to make Joe fulfill his pie quota!

"Suzanne" is the song that got me, emotionally, onto Leonard Cohen. It's lovely, and interesting to hear it in a French accent.
Oooh, "Famous Blue Raincoat" follow-up! Didn't know Tori sang this. She sings A LOT of great covers, doesn't she?
  5:21am
Julie:

I think Therese has a Cherry Pie obligation as well
  5:22am
Matt from Springfield:

Except now I get to hear FBR in an American accent--I actually took notice of "without Lili Marlen" instead of "withOAT Lili Marlen" like I'm used to!
  5:29am
Matt from Springfield:

Yes, FMA available! That was a great set!

Did you notice "Brand New Key" has the rhythm and possibly chords of "Black Rose"? It was an amazing segue from one to the other.
  5:31am
Julie:

@Matt hmmm no I didn't..cool
  5:33am
listener mark:

( any kate tonight ? )
  5:33am
Julie:

ha sorry no, so much last week
  5:34am
listener mark:

soright
  5:35am
DrTeeth:

Brand New Key is one of the first pop songs I remember hearing. My mom told it was by Janis Joplin, and I believed that for years. What a flashback! (Tho' it seems this version was not the original, but that doesn't matter.)
  5:36am
Julie:

rasputina also did a great version of BNK
  5:37am
Matt from Springfield:

Lady Julie of the Bonus Track!
I have this one on the Rumours reissue--as well as several versions/covers of "Gold Dust Woman"; a great mysterious song.
  5:37am
Julie:

oh yeah it's one of my favorites. Hole did it, Bobo did it
  5:38am
DrTeeth:

That's the second Rasputina reference I've gotten in a week. GET OUT OF MY BRAIN! (BTW, always liked you on Dusty, glad to have a chance to listen to your show!)
  5:39am
Matt from Springfield:

@DrTeeth: See Clay, Muppets are HUGE fans of your show! :)
  5:45am
Matt from Springfield:

So much more--it'll just have to wait till next week! Play your top 3-4 tracks.
  5:47am
Julie:

Thank you Dr. Teeth!
  5:51am
listener mark:

Thank you, Julie. Pleasant ride this morning. Have a great Tuesday.
  5:51am
Matt from Springfield:

Nice--you played the orig Laura Nyro here! Great songwriter, but great singer too. I love hearing her sing her own songs.
  5:52am
Julie:

This is Julie Driscoll
  5:53am
Matt from Springfield:

I know, I just mentioned I learned this song from one of your shows.

And I just learned about Julie Driscoll now. Evidently it was Julie D, and Adrian Edmonson who sang "This Wheel's On Fire" theme to the show 'AbFab".
  5:54am
Julie:

Julie has a great voice. Ade Edmonson probably not so much?
  5:56am
Matt from Springfield:

Adrian's hysterical--and the husband of fellow British "New Comedy" actor (and freq co-star with him) Jennifer Saunders, star of the show. He's blending into the low part of the mix though! Can't say he could do it on his own :)
  5:57am
Julie:

Thanks for listening, everyone! Have a great Tuesday!
  5:57am
Matt from Springfield:

Lily Langtry (died 1929)

Thanks for spinning records, Julie! I look forward to the rest of the Archive!
  6:00am
DrTeeth:

Thanks for hosting!
  12:50pm
Joe's Beauty Parlor:

That Black Ice song is pretty excellent.
  3:51pm
Van:

Apparently this was the first time Julie played Tammy St. John? I liked the song, but Tammy was new to me too. Looks like I was about 4 yrs old when the title track of this archive (Dark Shadows and Empty Hallways) came out! And wow, the origin song I guess of Julie’s show – Dark Night of the Soul! Who knew? I had to LOL at the Cherry Pie lead-in ha ha. Tearwave was new for me and I liked them…Nice lead-in for Cocteau Twins! Loved the Eliza Rickman revisit! And as always, old Moody Blues, any Tori Amos, old Jefferson Airplane, Stevie’s incredible vocals are always wonderful to see on Julie’s playlists. Had not heard that demo version of Gold Dust Woman…very nice! Looking forward to the live set from Inkubus Sukkubus next week!
  11:38pm
Marmalade kitty:

I agree with Marmalade Cat.. :)
