  5:54pm Drummer Some:

Good evening you handsome twosome. Watch the sticky beverages, Glenn.
  5:54pm glenn:

dang. second. curse you l.j.f.h.
  5:58pm Drummer Some:

Glenn, we don't call him Listener Wyatt Earp from Westwood for nothin'.
  5:59pm listener james from westwood:

hee hee! fastest gun in nj!
  5:59pm ndbob:

heya doug and everyone!
  6:00pm listener james from westwood:

good tuesday, ndbob!
  6:01pm glenn:

i am taking solace in beer and bbq. chips. and my new keyboard.
  6:01pm Carmichael:

Soul Brother #1, and FMU DJ #1. Ugh!!
  6:03pm ndbob:

nice here today - a couple hot days coming up though
  6:03pm Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings Doug and all the listeners.
  6:03pm listener james from westwood:

i like that kind of solace. bbq chips are a weakness of mine.
  6:04pm Drummer Some:

Hi to you, ndbob, and 2 U, Carmichael.

And good tidings, R from V!
  6:04pm listener james from westwood:

ndbob, sounds like a good break from the colder temps you'd been facing there. no danger of flooding around you?
  6:04pm listener james from westwood:

greetings, richard!
  6:04pm marcury:

Evening all.
  6:05pm glenn:

i like a man who can admit his weaknesses. i hereby de-curse you, l.j.f.w.
  6:05pm Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings james.
  6:06pm Drummer Some:

Hello Brother Marcury!
Hey ndbob, are you safe from all the floodage? (I know it's a big state, but I worry.)
  6:06pm Carmichael:

Cha cha cha, everyone. Today is discount beer day at the local boozer, and I'm heading that way pretty soon (I'm already leaning in that direction). So I got that going for me ...
  6:07pm ndbob:

we had minor local flooding on sunday due to heavy rain - i'm over 100 miles from minot though
  6:07pm listener james from westwood:

i could use up this whole hour listing my weaknesses. they sort of hold one another in careful balance.
  6:07pm ndbob:

thanks for asking!
  6:08pm listener james from westwood:

heya carmichael and marcury! i took advantage of cheaper-than-usual yuengling over the weekend.
  6:09pm listener james from westwood:

good to hear the waters haven't been running as deep, ndbob.
  6:10pm listener james from westwood:

see, i'm already hoping this will suddenly become a 2-hour show!
  6:10pm Drummer Some:

Yuengling, now yinz talkin' Pennsylvanese.
  6:11pm Carmichael:

J from W: are you in MA, or a different Westwood? I first tasted YingYang in a Florida eatery (I thought that's what the waiter was saying). Never heard of it until that moment. I need to get out more.
  6:11pm ndbob:

i've gotten reasonably used to the weather here after three years
  6:11pm Drummer Some:

No fret, no frown, MORE Tanzanian wonderment next.
  6:11pm jaycjay:

Yuengling's pretty commonly available in bars here in Brooklyn these days. Didn't used to be, but for the past few years. Usually pretty cheap, too.
  6:13pm listener james from westwood:

Carmichael, I'm in NJ. You were able to get Y that far down? I understand it still doesn't have nat'l distro. Pretty easy to find these parts.
  6:14pm Carmichael:

Yep, in Naples somewhere. Must be the retired New Yorkers demanding it.
  6:15pm listener james from westwood:

Good news re: Naples; I've got to go to a wedding there in Mar '12!
  6:19pm Steve:

Tuning in from California
  6:19pm PMD:

Hi Doug! @ Carmichael, whew, that's early!
  6:20pm jaycjay:

According to the Yuengling website, it's in 14 states now including FL, GA, AL, TN... so yeah, getting down sourth these days.
  6:20pm Jack:

Hey everyone! Almost missed you-thanks for the email reminder Doug as always.
Love the music.
  6:21pm Carmichael:

Steve, where in California might you be?
  6:21pm Drummer Some:

Hi Steve. Where in CA are you? Howdy PMD.

My pleasure Jack.
  6:22pm listener james from westwood:

welcome all. there's beer in the cooler! church key's on the snack table.
  6:22pm Carmichael:

This sounds like something Ed Grimley would dance to. And I say that with love.
  6:22pm Paul Sherratt:

Still working but listening !
  6:23pm Drummer Some:

Still working, Paul? It's after midnight. You should quit that boss.
  6:24pm listener james from westwood:

Ditto on this end, Paul. GTDS pairs splendidly with editing.
  6:28pm Carmichael:

See ya, laddies. Thanks for the music, Doug!
  6:30pm Paul Sherratt:

Midnight is still 30 minutes away !
  6:31pm jill:

GTDS pairs perfect with the Coppola wine we're drinking...
  6:32pm Steve:

In a smallish town of Fullerton, about 30 miles south of LA
  6:34pm Drummer Some:

Save a goblet for me, Jill!

Well then, Paul, nose to the grindstone for another half hour.
  6:34pm listener james from westwood:

coppola's is readily available at the liquor store next door. compensates for the lack of two-buck chuck at the adjoining trader joe's.
  6:38pm ndbob:

I'm 350 miles from the nearest trader joe's - though there is a liquor store next door.
  6:39pm listener james from westwood:

so at least you have beer, wine, and spirits covered. and lottery tix, perhaps, if you're so inclined now and again.
  6:41pm glenn:

i wonder what mark twain or mencken would have made of the plethora of lotteries these days.
  6:42pm jaycjay:

I've never been inside a Trader Joe's. I'm blocks from everything I need.
  6:44pm listener james from westwood:

twain was a poker type of guy, but i'll bet he'd view the crazier buyers of lottery tix as members of mencken's booboisie, and the politicians who claim to use the $ for education as rogues.
  6:47pm Drummer Some:

I hate the fake earth-crunchy vibe at Trader Joe's. The place is a multi-billion dollar business. (I hate Whole Foods worse. Thank God I moved from Carroll Gardens Brooklyn before they open that store in Gowanus. Scaaaary.)
  6:49pm listener james from westwood:

a division of, iirc, abma, big german grocery concern. still privately held. no real beef w tj's management, but the guy behind wf is a creep.
  6:52pm ndbob:

there are only two grocery stores here - three if you count the super walmart
  6:52pm Drummer Some:

Yeah, the president? owner? chairman of the board? of Whole Foods came out publicly against health-care reform. He said if everyone just bought food from Whole Foods, there wouldn't be a need for health-care reform. Creep is putting it mildly.
  6:53pm listener james from westwood:

however, our local farmer's market opens this thursday. i have been promised pennsylvania dutch goodness will be present. also, pickles.
  6:55pm listener james from westwood:

you can get some righteously unhealthful food @ wf, organic notwithstanding. there was a new yorker article on his philosophy. plus for a while they were pinning one's employee discount to body mass index. (thinner folks got more of a discount).
  6:55pm marcury:

Whole Foods gets much of their organic produce and store brand frozen foods from China. Melamine anyone?
  6:56pm Drummer Some:

Let's go back to talking about beer. All this organic crap is making me sick.
  6:57pm joan as police woman:

oh my lord that last track just blew my mind!!! thank you!
(i am a friend of thatcher keats'- he turned me on to your show)
so i will thank him too!
  6:57pm jaycjay:

Right! And no organic beer!
  6:57pm marcury:

Had a lovely Japanese Stout a couple of nights ago.
  6:59pm listener james from westwood:

i have yet to get to the defiant brewery, a little jernt just up over the border from me in pearl river, ny, for a tasting. they're on my local train line, so i wouldn't even have to drive if i timed it right.
  7:00pm ndbob:

excellent show as always doug!
  7:00pm listener james from westwood:

for now, i have yuengling and sierra nevada pale ale to see me thru july 4.
  7:01pm jaycjay:

Among my favorite places within a few blocks from me is a great beer store, Brouwerij Lane. Actually planning on swinging by there in a bit and decide between filling my growler with Allagash Victor, or Victoria.
  7:01pm listener james from westwood:

the stream was solid as a rock. excellent!
  7:01pm Drummer Some:

Welcome aboard Joan as Police Woman. Give Thatch a hug for me.
  7:02pm listener james from westwood:

not sure where they fill it, but two friends of mine occasionally empty and fill a growler with some local beer. might be climax brewing co.
  7:03pm Drummer Some:

Lately I've been partial to Great Lakes Brewing outta Cleveland. Their Eliot Ness and Burning River brews are tasty. Thanks to Listener Leigh for turning me onto these suds.
  7:05pm Paul Sherratt:

Now I hope Joan is aware of the catching - up to be done via the ten years or so of archives !! ( 1500 hour +++ )
  7:06pm jaycjay:

I am leaning towards the Victor, brewed with red cabernet grapes added to the mash, a wine yeast, and Pilsner malt all adding up to 9.0 ABV goodness.
  7:07pm jaycjay:

Yeah, Great Lakes has some good stuff. Drank at their brewpub a couple of times when there on business; Elliot Ness was a favorite.
  7:08pm listener james from westwood:

see you all tomorrow and friday; thanks a ton, doug, and happy to hear the stream's flowing clear and cool again!
