Listener comments!

  6:02am
Chuck:

Checking in...
  6:02am
hamburger:

howdy all - alright all strapped in!

will do my gosh-darnedest to not leave my desk
  6:03am
Meghan:

hehe.... not even for a bathroom break or to fill your coffee mug
  6:03am
Michael from Munich:

5 Seconds? I thought we were going backwards?
  6:03am
Deepak:

Hey everyone
  6:04am
Elwyn:

Hey Everyone!

I guess Meghan didn't find anything smaller than a second...

Now, where's my fruit cup? :-)
  6:05am
Meghan:

We were going to go backwards, but due to the lack of second songs, we are counting up. more year songs. I am only doing as I am told.....
  6:06am
Dave B:

I over slept by 5 minutes
Happy to see EBN in there
  6:06am
Chuck:

It's in the frige, Elwyn.

Morning parkies one and all! The Cure is a great way to start the day...
  6:06am
Elwyn:

Oh... are you blaming Jeff? :-)
  6:07am
Dave B:

And thats EBN without the OZN. what ever happened to them
  6:07am
Chuck:

Doing as you were told? Guess there's a first time for everything, Meg. hehe....
  6:09am
Meghan:

ha! True! But since Jeff put the show together this week, I have to!
  6:10am
Elwyn:

@Chuck and Evil Brady:
With all this talk of Star Trek II, here's an appropriate quote:
Kirk:
Captain Spock, damage report.

Spock:
Admiral, if we go "by the book". like Lieutenant Saavik, hours could seem like days.

Kirk:
I read you captain. Let's have it.

Spock: The situation is grave, Admiral. We won't have main power for six "days". Auxiliary power has temporarily failed. Restoration may be possible, in two "days". By the book, Admiral.
  6:13am
Elwyn:

Wow. I haven't heard that song in ages and I'm sure I submitted it. I prefer my other Clouds album "Penny Century".
  6:14am
Chuck:

This is the first I'm hearing of a new Trek, Elwyn! When's it due out?
  6:15am
Jeff:

I spent a lot of time asking myself "what would Meghan do?". If I took over completely we would have already heard 10 seconds to love and 2 minutes to midnight. See y'all at the other end!
  6:15am
Elwyn:

That was from the ST2: The Wrath of Khan.

I haven't heard anything about the next film.
  6:17am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Hey Jeff, were you able to find ANY songs with "epoch" in the title? I couldn't!
  6:17am
Chuck:

I just did a quick look up, guys. The new Trek isn't even in production yet but will be soon. We must wait...
  6:18am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

what would be funny as hell would be to end the show with "The Final Countdown"
  6:19am
Meghan:

Wow, that is scary to think "What Would Meghan Do" .... I am even afraid to think that!
  6:20am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

WWMD for a Klondike Bar?

I had too much "trania*" last night... need coffee STAT!

*let's see if Elwyn gets that reference
  6:22am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

correction - Tranya
http://www.startrek.com/legacy_media/images/200303/tos-003-the-real-balok/320x240.jpg
  6:22am
Chuck:

It's from ST:TOS, Dave...
  6:23am
Chuck:

And they shaved the poor kid playing Balok bald.
  6:23am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Clint Howard!

(Ron's Brother)
  6:24am
Elwyn:

Oh gawd! Brady, you are evil! I remember fugly Ron Howard's fugly brother!
  6:25am
Elwyn:

Episode name: "The Corbomite Maneuver".
  6:26am
hamburger:

was there no pere ubu? the horror! :)
  6:27am
Chuck:

Yeah, and Ron's father Rance Howard played Capt. Sheriden's father in Babylon 5...
  6:29am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: I can't remember that episode.
Hey, is there any chance that when you make a scope for my BFG, you can put real magnifying glasses in it so it kind of works?

@Meghan: Noooo! I wanted to listen to another live set of RHH.
  6:32am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

I thought you just said "23 minutes in Brusslesprouts"
  6:33am
Chuck:

He was in more than one episode, Elwyn.
To answer your question, that is beyond my skill. I would have to know how to measure the correct focal distance between the lenses. Don't know anything about that...
  6:36am
Chuck:

I was thinking of using a red LED and a strand of fiber optics on one "lens" to simulate a "red dot" scope...
  6:42am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

@Hamburger - I put some Pere Ubu in my weekly care package...
  6:45am
Elwyn:

@Chuck:
Is there any chance of you finding a cheap scope at a Thrift shop? Should I look on eBay?
I do love the idea of a red LED. The first two Terminator movies had laser sighting.
  6:47am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

The 12-gauge auto-loader.
The .45 long slide, with laser sighting.
Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range

Just what you see here pal, OK?
  6:48am
Chuck:

That was the general idea, Elwyn. Sure look for a second hand scope! Just remember that cheap scopes don't have great optics (i.e. things will be blurry at high magnification)...
  6:50am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

I'm just curious what the customs people are gonna think? Elwyn - you'll be on every "no fly" list from here to Alderaan!
  6:50am
Meghan:

HA! No joke!
  6:51am
Chuck:

As long as it's obviously just a prop and not a real gun I think we'll be alright...
  6:53am
Chuck:

Hum, you know I actually could make it a "laser sight", Elwyn. You wouldn't even have to look through the scope. I have laser pointer cat toys for G'Kar...
  6:53am
Elwyn:

I hope they just think it's a toy especially if it's not painted black!
  6:59am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE!
  6:59am
Elwyn:

I still haven't watched the Obama video yet. So it's not the other Kenny G of elevator-jazz fame?
  7:00am
pierre:

Bonjour Meghan,

checking in as always !

Bonjour Parkies !
  7:00am
Chuck:

Anything off of Graham Parker's "Live! Alone In America!" LP...
  7:02am
Meghan:

Nope, it's our very own Kenny G! He gets some mail here sometimes for the other Kenny G. We giggle at it.

Bonjour Pierre!
  7:02am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Bonjour Pierre! Comment allez-vous?
  7:03am
Chuck:

Ah! And don't forget The Allman Bros. "At the Filmore East", Dave!
  7:03am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Titties and Beer - Zappa in New York!
  7:08am
hamburger:

I only heard two Kenny G shows and they -SERIOUSLY- gave me the creeps.. no joke
  7:10am
Meghan:

When I was working on my art, I'd have the radio on after Ken's show and end up listening to Kenny's show. By the end of the summer I totally "Got" what he was doing.
  7:12am
Elwyn:

@Meghan: are there any restrictions on what live songs we can submit? I've downloaded heaps of good stuff from Dime a Dozen and recorded a fair bit myself. Back in the early days, I gaffer taped my microphone to my chest like a wire on a snitch! Ha ha!
  7:13am
Meghan:

Elwyn, if the sound quality is decent....... and it's not reporting time! Send over the best ones and I'll have a listen
  7:14am
?:

ça va très très bien Evil Brady !
je te remercie, hope all is well for everyone to.
  7:14am
hamburger:

how about youtube links?
  7:16am
Chuck:

Of course, Rush has several live albums, Meghan. *snicker*
  7:18am
Meghan:

Chuck, I said GOOD live..... jeez.

Yes Hamburger.... same deal, good quality only
  7:19am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: I wonder if Jeff snuck any Rush songs into today's playlist. :-)
  7:20am
Chuck:

Wouldn't matter if he did, Elwyn. Meg would cut it outright. *snickers again*
  7:23am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

hey, with Dirpy gone, what other sites are people using for youtube to mp3 conversion?

Pierre, avez-vous commencé le nouvel emploi?
  7:26am
Michael from Munich:

Hahaha, I also wanted to recommend Peter Frampton
  7:27am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

DO YOU (YOU) FEEL LIKE I DO????
  7:28am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

(it's number 66 over here)
http://www.chordstrike.com/2009/10/the-100-greatest-live-albums-of-all-time.html
  7:30am
Chuck:

I'm rather tired of that Frampton album, guys. The airwaves were inundated with it back when it was released (1976? if I remember). You couldn't get away from it....
  7:30am
Elwyn:

I still love the talk box effect, Chuck.
  7:31am
Meghan:

Dave I have a new one I'll send to you..... I can't think of it off hand

Ha! Michael, Frampton ist nicht zu gut........
  7:33am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

DO YOU FEEL ALL RIIIIGHT!
  7:33am
dirty old man:

Trivia
Re: 6 Days on the Road. A Ga. overdrive is when you coast down a hill in neutral for more speed than available in top gear.
  7:34am
pierre:

@ Evil Brady : thanks for asking :)
Well not yet (the 6th of June) i hope i'll still be able to chat with my WFMU friends. I am currently still working on the contemporary african photographers book.
  7:35am
Chuck:

So what are a "JImmy" and a "White", DOM? I'd like to know out of curiosity...
  7:35am
pierre:

(@ Dave : your french is fantastic)
  7:37am
dirty old man:

Jimmy is a GMC. A White was a truck made into the '70s and was bought out by GMC.
  7:38am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

@peirre - google translate helps, but Je suis d'etude!
  7:39am
Chuck:

Interesting! My dad was a truck driver for The Salvation Army. Thanks, DOM!
  7:40am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Oh, not sure what album that Billy Preston version of Eight Days A Week was from, but I found it over here on Funky16Corners. Good stuff for the taking!

http://funky16corners.lunarpages.net/?s=Beatles&x=0&y=0
  7:41am
maestroso:

Whoo hoo! Gentle Giant!
  7:41am
Meghan:

Yep, Dave, that is where it was from.....
  7:41am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

and anytime anyone plays Gentle Giant is a good time!

One of my good friends had the chance to see them or Sabbath (with Van Halen opening) and he chose the latter. Shortly there after GG was no more.
  7:43am
maestroso:

Saw the Three Friends tour at BB Kings a couple of years ago - what a great show.
  7:44am
Chuck:

Hey, it happens, Jeff F!
  7:45am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

@maestroso - me = jealous, and sad that I missed it.
  7:45am
hamburger:

and some may get banished from New Jersey 1!1?? :O
  7:48am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

if you included that version of 21 Century Schizoid Man, I will be giddy.

But don't spoil the possible surprise...
  7:50am
Elwyn:

@Dave: I can't think of many concerts that I've missed and really regretted. I skipped $40 seats to U2 last year because i thought their last album was mediocre. Used to love Foo Fighters too but they seem really mainstreamly mediocrely angsty all the time now so I haven't seen them for a few tours. Wish I saw Pixies more. Skipped Devo, Cheap Trip and Def Leppard because they seemed too pricey for a casual fan.
  7:55am
ex:

hi megan ...can you play satan panonian ..its song about mental jail .. called eyees in frame ...its croatian poppunk from `80 album nuclear olympic games ..could be found also on `80 punk compilation bombardiranje njujorka ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r81VdcvPimo
nice day is say ...
  7:55am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

I missed a lot of shows during my married years. Since that ended, I've been on a rampage, making up for lost time...

In Theme Park related news, here's a pretty nifty 5 minute short entitle "No Joy" shot @ the abandoned Joyland Amusement Park in Wichita Kansas.

  7:57am
Chuck:

Can't miss with Muddy!
  7:58am
Meghan:

Hey Ex- I will keep that one in mind for a future Jail theme show. This one is all about numbers right now. We are counting amounts of time. Ironically this set just happens to be a lot of songs about jail
  7:59am
ex:

sql ..tnx..))
  7:59am
pierre:

aahh Muddy Waters, so few people play the blues in France, how come ? We are not happier persons, i don't understand…
> Isn't blues a goldmine for a number theme Meghan ?
  8:03am
Meghan:

I think it's more of a blue collar, minority thing than area thing. Slavery and chain gangs I think may be the start. I could be wrong.
  8:04am
Jeff P:

In before Iron Maiden's "Two Minutes To Midnight"?
  8:06am
Meghan:

Sorry Jeff, that would have been in the beginning. But I have already played it for the Midnight theme.
  8:06am
Jeff P:

Le sigh.
  8:07am
pierre:

yeah but france had a past of slavery as well, and a lot of people came against their will. But if i remember well, there is something like blues, in some folks songs, northern african music, and music form the caribean that could be some kind of "french blues" (the name sounds ridiculous)
  8:08am
Jeff P:

Gah. I didn't have my coffee yet. I see how this is going down now. I'll crawl back behind my computer now.
  8:09am
Meghan:

ha! It happens Jeff..... I need more coffee too

Pierre, though NOLA is the land of blues.... and it's french speaking there.... Cajun actually. So in a sense, it is part French!
  8:13am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

I can't find the "Old Blues Man Interview" from the Rutles... but you get the idea..
  8:14am
Chuck:

And in the past you thought you might run out of themes, Meghan. Not possible!
  8:14am
Jeff P:

Anyone who actually believes the Rapture is happening on the 21st - give me your cash! You won't need it. Put your money where your beliefs are!
  8:15am
Chuck:

There will be an end to the world though, Meg. In 5 billion years or so when then Sun becomes a Red Giant and burns the Earth up....
  8:16am
Chuck:

That's scientific fact, Kids! Not religious BS!
  8:17am
annie:

i know it's corny.. but i love the jackson browne live albums..
  8:17am
Jeff P:

"I've got some cramps..." Heh.
  8:17am
ex:

with this musica .. ..its not me being late ...

just a feeling ...pierre how is book coming up ?..

megan is nice to hear your voice ...specially when you pick up some strenght even i get scared ...
  8:18am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

@Jeff P - just make it out to C.A.S.H.
(Church of All Seeking Help)
  8:18am
Cheri Pi:

Great version by the Cramps!
  8:19am
Meghan:

HA! Nice one Dave!

Awww thanks Ex! (blushes)

Morning Cheri Pi!
  8:20am
Elwyn:

A sure fire way to determine if people are in a cult is when the tell you when the world will end. The Jehovah's Witnesses are notoriously bad for three wrong guesses but somehow make a convoluted explanation of why it didn't happen. It's a lie hole they keep digging themselves deeper into.
  8:20am
o tannenbaum:

where do i sent my fav basslines?
greeting from berlin
  8:20am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

@Jeff P and Meghan re: "I've got cramps"

  8:21am
Other David:

FIVE YEARS!! *holds up lighter*

Morning,/afternoon all :)
  8:22am
Meghan:

Hello Tannenbaum! Morning Other David!

Here is where you can go for the basslines. Scroll down!

  8:22am
Jim Devoid:

Do songs about decades come after the years songs? (should have checked the FB page, but got lazy...)
  8:22am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Hey Other David!
  8:23am
Meghan:

Jeff compiled this, so I didn't see any decade songs....
  8:23am
Chuck:

IMHO all religions are wrong, Elwyn. None can empirically prove any of their views...
  8:23am
pierre:

@ Meghan : True
@ ex : pretty, i actually just went to the publisher, and he said "well done, neat work" there is a few things that complete me like somebody happy with what i have done (did someone said major self-confidence issues?)

Thanks Meghan, the Cramps is my favourite thing in the world.
  8:24am
o tannenbaum:

thanks Meghan!
tjüüsi
  8:24am
Jim Devoid:

...or is this really a countdown to the next "rapture"??
  8:24am
ex:

lol
  8:26am
pierre:

@ Evil Brady : your photo (with listener fred) makes me want to grab a beer all the time, this serves me as an visual synonym for holidays.
  8:27am
Other David:

Drat, was Ken Nordine disqualified on a technicality (lack of numbers) Meghan? :P
  8:27am
Meghan:

Pierre, I am always happy when people like my work. Whenever you do something from the heart and put yourself out there, where you could be vulnerable, and people like it, that is the best! Not self confidence issues.... cause if it was, you'd never put something out there.
  8:28am
Meghan:

Sadly David it was...... Though it was Jeff, not me this time! Not Jeff P, either. Though I am excited to check out everything of his! Major theme show contender!
  8:29am
Chuck:

Do you know what year this Robyn album was released, Meghan?
  8:29am
pierre:

@ Meghan : if you start a religion, i'd follow you. Thanks for the enlightement (not sure about the spelling here)
  8:29am
ex:

so nice said ,Megan ..
  8:30am
Other David:

Well the great tunes are more than making up for it :)

*but still writes Jeff an anonymous letter full of expletives*
  8:31am
Meghan:

Chuck- It was like last year or the year before..... I think......

Awww thanks guys......
  8:33am
Chuck:

Wish I had more time to sit at the computer like so many of you. I miss too much of what's out there. *sigh* I'll be looking for the Robyn album, Meg...
  8:33am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

@ pierre je souvien la place. Bon temps! (no google translate that time)

http://gallery.me.com/davidbradynyc#100137

I look like I had one too many!
  8:34am
Chuck:

Well, if you've had 1 too many, why not have 20 too many, D! Ha!
  8:35am
Chuck:

As long as you don't have to drive , of course!
  8:36am
ex:

you guys look ...hehhe
  8:36am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

Dans Paris?

Non.
  8:36am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: This reminds me... I've never riden a bicycle while drunk.
  8:37am
Chuck:

Don't recommend that either, Elwyn! Road Rash is possible!
  8:37am
pierre:

i remember having two pints in a row without food. And @ Elwyn, just took my bike on my way back to have diner with my girlfriend's parent… hahaha… what a night.
  8:40am
Elwyn:

I remember in "Bowling for Columbine", there's a case where the dog accidentally shot his owner.
Maybe story #2 wasn't really betrayal but the dog helping the guy get the help he needed to get off his habit.
  8:42am
Jeff P:

I taco'd a tire on a bike while riding while drunk. I don't recommend it.

Other David:

Even walking a mile or two when drunk is not to be recommended... it increases the tendency to say "hmm, this hedge looks like an alright place to sleep"
  8:43am
ex:

i think am getting older ..somehow ..
  8:44am
Chuck:

Agree, Jeff P. Just WALKING can be difficult enough when you're really hammered never mind trying to operate a machine....
  8:46am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

driving with one eye closed (to counteract double vision) is tricky too!
  8:46am
Meghan:

I have missed a train once cause I was so drunk. I didn't want to dub the train the vomit comet (which is the middle of the night nick name for the PATH). Many car bombs, martinis, mixed drinks and beer.....
  8:46am
Jeff P:

I wasn't THAT drunk. It was only 5 beers. 0:-)

Of course, we were on our way to a bar....
  8:46am
Other David:

It was at this moment Meghan realised all of her listeners were alcoholics
  8:47am

Ugh, I made that error once... on a bus... I was young and foolish
  8:48am
Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

PKNY:

  8:48am
Jeff P:

I think Meghan realized it a long, long time ago. OD.
  8:48am
Chuck:

How else are we to deal with all the complete BULLSHIT this world dishes out on a daily basis, Other David?
  8:49am
Elwyn:

Should I drink a Becks now or open the Passion Pop, which is a girl's drink?
  8:49am
Other David:

@Evil Brady Word!

@Chuck I wasn't criticising, alcohol knows all and cures all!
  8:49am
Meghan:

Ha! I did realize this a long while ago, but was reassured during the drinking show.
  8:50am
ex:

  8:50am
Jeff P:

Jen in Baltimore:

Evil Brady (aka Dave B):

  8:51am
Meghan:

  8:54am
Meghan:

  8:54am
Jeff P:

J&MC followed by Kiss to end the show? What have we done to deserve this awesomeness!
  8:55am
Meghan:

PKNY.... that is all Jeff. He always wants Kiss on the show
  8:56am
Chuck:
