Listener comments!

  8:08pm Scott:

In the R Crumb documentary there was a song played, apparently from an old 78, that was played at the end, perhaps also the beginning, almost like a theme song, I think it was just vocal and piano, maybe blues. Can you tell us the artist and title? Any chance you'll play it tonight?
  8:11pm Amanda:

Hi Mac! Sounds great so far. I am a Crumb fan and have never really heard him talk about records beyond just as a footnote to his life. This is a cool show.
  8:18pm fishmonkeystew:

This is magnificent!
  8:19pm Jim Vyhnak:

Woo-hoo!
  8:19pm Tom:

Where else but WFMU? Thank you, Mac!
  8:19pm Webhamster Henry:

Diggin' the 78 nerdery! Keep a-crankin! The great thing about 78s is they can be broken in two clean pieces and still play HELD TOGETHER BY THE LABEL.
I'll inventory my collection (it's tiny but has lots of old stuff) some time and get you a list, Mac,
  8:20pm Amanda:

Scott - Just browsing Amazon, apparently there are a couple of songs on that soundtrack by a blues singer named Geechie Wiley.
  8:21pm hindledale:

Didn't realize there would be video too, AWESOME. Any chance you'll have the full interview video online? Been looking forward to this show all week.
  8:21pm dale:

excellent!!!! robert influenced my childhood when i found my big brother's uneeda comix under his mattress with angelfood mcspades etc. i picked up a huge wooden crate of edison diamond discs at an auction last fall for a dollar. a DOLLAR. i just need to get a turntable that plays 78s and a good stylus. does your website have any tutorials on how to play and preserve these discs?
  8:23pm dale:

didn't realize mac looked like wolverine!!!
  8:23pm pierre:

Merci Monsieur Crumb, you are a great artiste, and a hero of mine.
Merci Mac for this show. Its late in Paris, but i never miss a show.
  8:26pm MuttonChops:

Thanks MAC
  8:27pm dale:

didn't realize mac looked like wolverine!!!
  8:30pm Jack:

Mac, this is amazing, wonderful! Thanks for doing this.
  8:35pm JB:

Thanks MAC, What a great show. R. Crumb is the man!
  8:35pm dale:

the great thing - and the horrible thing - is that amazon has the jimmy johnson string band, including old blind dog. i remember setting up dates with friends to listen to records together from beginning to end. you couldn't listen to new things any other way. the music industry has really made the music secondary to distribution and profit.
  8:37pm MAC:

Glad so many of you are enjoying the show in real time. This was REALLY exciting to record. Don't forget to tune in next week for part two!
  8:39pm dale:

is marion's attic still on wbcq? the sunspot cyle or el nino or whatever has ruined shortwave for me for the last couple of years.
  8:41pm Marmalade Kitty:

Top show!

Remember the long beaked bird playing the rock records on the Flintstones? hehe :)
  8:51pm MAC:

And rock is gonna roll... And rock is gonna roll... Squawk!
  8:51pm tahomajohn:

The Stones had some great songs... Can't You Hear Me Knocking..? Sympathy... Gimme.. wtf ? jeez, the culture priest's nose goes vertical.
  8:53pm makaha joe:

here's what's unforgivable by the stones: crediting jagger/richards with song written by R. Johnson
  9:01pm tahomajohn:

Great show Mac.. thanks for putting it on.
  2:26am florencia:

great! thank u!!! I love robert crumb!!!
  3:12am Matt E.:

Hey, there is a great radio show right up your alley on KAOS out of Olympia, WA called "The Audiological Phantasmagoria with Professor T.G. Hokum" that's on every Saturday from 1-3PM PST. You can stream it at http://kaos.evergreen.edu/listen.html
  1:44pm Ed:

Hey Mac, listened to the show on Tues. night on my Sprint Evo phone at work, now i never miss your program. Your show with R. Crumb was fantastic. You are the greatest! Won`t miss part two next week!!!!!!!
  12:16am anthony:

thank you for this! how cool is it that the legend R. Crumb can sit there and discuss obscure records just like any other collector?
  6:07am beat-man:

what a great show !!! lov'm love it
  4:59pm Mike:

best APMP shows ever. Though I don't love the East River String Band, I must admit.
  5:40am Ate van Delden:

Dear Mac, I really enjoy your programs! In your latest program you could not give the name of the tune played by Leroy Shield on the Taylor Holmes 12" Victor. Well, it's Scott Joplin's famous Maple Leaf Rag and that's very special, since vintage recordings of it hardly exist!
  7:58am Graham:

If you put the label matrix number up some of us can narrow the records release/recording date down to the day. Play some Easter songs about fuzzy easter bunnies and eggs cracking in their shells to reveal new collectors bursting on the scene - especially for Record Store Day!
  10:50pm Earl from Hillsborough:

Excellent show , what a Great guest ! Thanks Mac
