  3:08am
Adam:

Hello, and perhaps good night...long, long day at work and a long, long weekend with not one, but two half-nights of sleep.

Jesse, it's still sounding great in my half-dead condition. Asleep in my chair for a couple of hours, managed to miss Therese's show.

Love those FMU archives...and the Arab Spring...and all of you...catch you on the replay, JJ
  3:14am
jj.:

yeesh, that's no way to run a weekend. enjoy the crash-out, dude. catch you somewhere else in the time-track. mornin', ex!
  3:20am
Adam:

A few friends, some mutual, and I went for a weekend escape drinking in the country--nonstop headaches before and after, alas.
Cool songs! And fatigue...will try to last the set at least....
  3:22am
Adam:

Especially DeShannon & Byrds
  3:29am
Mark:

Awesome set. Cheers from Poland!

Love The Peoples Temple, can't wait for their new LP.
  3:29am
Adam:

It all starts with that infernal cultish grammar! The "American Experience" documentary on Jim Jones and Jonestown is remarkable: like the finest old soul and garage records...
  3:32am
Adam:

Nice to hear Jesse edorsing the Trunk discussing classic, and not so classic, metal...Hard rock is a varied tradition--but aren't all traditions varied traditions?

Texas barbecue sounds very, very good, Jesse...
  3:34am
Adam:

I don't know if WFMU is the last fair deal in the country or town, but it'll do...
  3:46am
Adam:

Nice puppy, nice, trippy, Texan Puppy
  3:51am
44074-GE:

Diggin' the set. Appreciate the Puppets. =)
  3:56am
Adam:

That 44074 number is eerily familiar...
  4:16am
Knile:

It's the zip code of Oberlin, Ohio.
  4:21am
Knile:

I'm excited/scared for the sound poems.
  4:23am
(mta) Tony:

Wonderful show; can someone tell me where I can buy the Dead's Winterland '71 recording(s)? I only see the '73 & '77 recordings available. If nobody knows, maybe Jesse can tell me? I hate disturbing Jesse if it's not necessary.
  4:27am
jj.:

hey tony -- not sure if they've ever actually sold any winterland '71 stuff (though you can hear it all on archive.org), but there's a great 4-CD box (with amazing sound!) from later that spring recorded at the fillmore east: http://www.amazon.com/Ladies-Gentlemen-Grateful-Dead/dp/B00004YRGK
  4:29am
Knile:

In looking for the answer to Tony's Q, I went to wikipedia's discography for the Dead. I haven't bought Dead discs in years and feel like there's.. so.. much.. to catch up on!
  4:30am
(mta) Tony:

Thanks jj., I so appreciate you and your shows. Thanks for the turn-on and link! - tony
  4:31am
(mta) Tony:

Thanks so much, Knile. You're very kind. Yes, there's a TON of stuff!
  4:34am
(mta) Tony:

jj., wanna hear something coincidentally funny? Only several days ago I purchased the Bubble Puppy's "Gathering" CD. I've just finished playing it for the first time and here you are, today, playing it as well. What a coincidence I say!
  4:35am
44074-GE:

Adam....you're not from Chicago are you?
  4:36am
jj.:

(44074-GE + Adam -- you are each who the other suspects it is.)
  4:37am
44074-GE:

Far out, man.
  4:37am
jj.:

(er, he is. you know what i mean.)
  4:38am
44074-GE:

Yarp. It's almost like we're hangin' out in your room at 77.
  4:39am
hamburger:

ouu soothing water sounds
  4:39am
Knile:

I hope I am who somebody suspects I am.
  4:39am
Garrett Dwight:

Good morning everyone
  4:40am
jj.:

goo goo gajoob.
  4:40am
GE:

I wonder if this means Jesse's takin' a leak.
  4:42am
Knile:

I was in a hotel (central Amsterdam) the other day, and in the breakfast area they had a TV that just streamed scenes of waterfalls & such from myzen.tv - totally weird but relaxing indeed
  4:43am
GE:

damn, I should've figured that was him from the "Arab spring" comment. How many people reference social democracy movements in eastern europe in general conversation?!
  4:46am
Knile:

GE: Depends on the decade, I guess.
  4:46am
Garrett Dwight:

I envision the day when there are parking lots in Portland filled with thousands of bikes like in Amsterdam.
  4:46am
hamburger:

Knile: I'm going Amsterdam end of the month - recommend that hotel?
  4:47am
GE:

Shit. I jsut google map walked my way to an awesome little place me, my wife and a couple friends stayed at there...
  4:49am
Knile:

hamburger: Eh, kind of weird/cramped place, the Hotel Nadia. Check out this list. I liked the CitizenM: http://bit.ly/dFTdxG
  4:50am
akb427:

this piece is some pretty challenging listening.
  4:51am
Knile:

This is really one track?
  4:52am
hamburger:

wow - what a room!
  4:52am
jj.:

ayup, since the end of the beach boys.
  4:53am
GE:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=map+europe&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Europe&gl=us&ll=52.365307,4.880124&spn=0.000251,0.000488&t=h&z=21&layer=c&cbll=52.365356,4.880096&panoid=KfoRfgMK--bUzQfwOFLquA&cbp=12,16.63,,0,-6.54

Not super fancy, but we could afford it and it was in a pretty happenin' area--close to the museums, some good eats, a great little coffee shop on a canal...
  4:54am
Knile:

Also check out homeaway and airbnb.com for non-commercial rentals of apartments and such. I just did one in Berlin and loved loved it.
  4:56am
GE:

Epic drone.
  4:57am
Knile:

I've got tons of Americans-in-Netherlands tips for any/all who are interested...
  4:58am
greysoul:

I can't wait to see how you're going to land this one, Mr. DJ.
  5:00am
akb427:

Knile: I would love to hear these, do you have a web page someplace? I don't have a trip planned right now, but perhaps in the next year or so...
  5:02am
Knile:

akb427: I don't - just moved to NL ~6 months ago. Feel free to e-mail me: Knile at JHU Dot EDU -- have only really seen A'dam proper on 2 days, but lots of things hold for the whole country
  5:05am
Fabio:

Knile: welcome to Amsterdam, I moved here 2 years ago. This is a great city to live in, specially with this spring weather!
  5:11am
Knile:

Fabio, heh, I'm actually out in Nijmegen. LOVING the weather.
  5:12am
Garrett Dwight:

Peeps interested in a sustainable future should read the article 'Tearing down urban freeways to make room for a new bicycle economy'. It's very informative, offering perspective on the cost of bicycle infrastructure vs. Automobile infrastructure. It's not too lengthy either.
  5:12am
GE:

JJ: You should check out a Seattle band called Midday Veil. Good stuff--especially the "Queen of the Void" album. New album has some more conventional radio stuff (played on Kexp around here).
  5:16am
Fabio:

ohhh nijmegen! i'm going to the modern witch show in there on the 15th or 16th april, i guess :)
it is a nice city as well
  5:22am
Knile:

If I haven't heard of Modern Witch and I can't find them listed on local venues' sites.. am I living under a rock? :)
  5:26am
greysoul:

Good Lord - are you okay, Mr. DJ?

Living proof: he does his own stunts, folks - even on the triangle!
  5:27am
Wheelis in Madrid:

what's the website??
  5:29am
Knile:

Website for what?
  5:30am
Adam:

Seattle/Amsterdam suspect, sorry, fell asleep again on my couch, this time...thought I detected your fingerprints...and I was being coy about the digits. I'd know that ZIP Code when I was dead. I only hoped, only hoped 'twas you....
  5:30am
Wheelis in Madrid:

for what Jesse mentioned regarding alternative music source didn't catch the whole thing
  5:33am
jj.:

ah, ubuweb! http://ubuweb.com/
  5:36am
Adam:

I stayed at a Hotel Tamara a few blocks from Central (Centraal?) Station (Ztaation?) but that was almost twelve years ago. It was colorful, but youth hostel bunk beds at the time, so maybe not what you're looking for. Jesse, am I awake or is this all a dream?
  5:39am
Wheelis in Madrid:

vale vale - gracias! we dig you here Jessie. Enjoyed some fat siestas listening to el Frow Show
  5:43am
jj.:

nice! glad to be of service!
  5:44am
Adam:

I once changed trains in Madrid. Wish I was there longer.
La vida es sueno, y suenos suenos son.
Moved to NL? In permanent, year-round fashion? My God, it finally happened?!? The school, with the Book, and the stuff? Congrats!...watch out for animal rights activists with a taste for human blood...they only do 12-18 years in some cases...
Lord, do I want to travel...like Cadmus the space robot...
  5:45am
pierreall (formely un-known as pierre):

Good morning everyone !
  5:46am
Adam:

Bonjour, former Pierre!
  5:46am
Knile:

Adam: it's not clear that the person you thought moved to NL. I did. It looks like Fabio did. But GE only visited there?
  5:48am
damien:

hey, you can't be airing that movie soundtrack in french at this time of the day !!! ;)
It's sooo old fashioned !!
Now i'm just listening (and commenting) while I should be working, it's the end of the morning here !

BTW great show, thanks !
  5:50am
Adam:

Yeah, really, really half-awake here...very confused...there was once a dream of study in the Low Countries, a dream held by another...I dreamed of study in warmer places with Romance languages...wound up doing not that...now I listen to weird noises occasionally in a mostly cold place...doh...
  5:54am
Knile:

Luckily, show's almost over so you can go pass out -- or move on to ingest some stimulation.
  5:59am
Adam:

Yeah...not sure...slept like an hour here, an hour there earlier while attempting to stream some fine programming...gotta get my bearings...and maybe a cigarette...cold outside...fuck it, it's my apartment in here, too...eh, maybe I'll just wait until after more rest...decisions...and I'm nowhere near the bottom of the great Netherlands mystery...another time?
  6:01am
Adam:

Good musication, JJ. I poured one out for us--all of us imaginable--at the site of 77 last May.
