  7:37pm
Ronzoni Sonobuoni:

I'm with Little Charlie & the Nightcats
Well, I heard the warden said.
I had one more day.
One last meal before they carried me away.
He said if we don't got it.
We'll go out an' get it.
Because you don't have to go.
Til we get back with it.
So I said, 'Hmmm'.
A-bring me two dinosaur eggs over easy.
Fried in the butter an' not too greasy.
Muskees and bean, black-eyed peas.
An' a little small dish of buttered bee-balm beans
I want-a zebra tooth, a tiger steak
An whole hippopotamus, well baked.
Now go, get my dinner, go.
Get my dinner.
You ain't got it, go out an get it.
'Cause I ain't goin', til ya get back with it.
Now bring me a cup of crocodile tears.
Purple watermellon an some alligator ears.
An bring me two cross-eyed cat fish.
An some wavy gravy in a left-hand dish.
Now go, get my dinner, go.
Get my dinner.
You ain't got it, go out an get it.
'Cause I ain't goin', til ya get back with it.
(Instrumental & guitar solo)
Now bring me a order of rattlesnake hips.
The split of his tongue bring me both of his lips.
Now ya have my order so serve my dish.
With a female banana I just can't resist.
Now go, get my dinner, go.
Get my dinner.
You ain't got it, go out an get it.
'Cause I ain't goin', til ya get back with it.
Go on, get it now.
Don't worry about me, cause I ain't goin' nowhere.
FADES-
Hey! Don't forget the hot sauce!
  7:38pm
Davice:

To be more specific: Prime Rib - rare, Martha's home made Mac & Cheese and corn. A fine bottle of chardonnay. Martha's chocolate chip cookies.
  7:39pm
JT:

natuwal man! aside from the key change, i like this version. the guitar is meaty to match her voice. plus, she's so jaunty and amused, yet slightly sluggish.
  7:40pm
TomE:

Many compliments from London.. What a great show. My last supper : Pinot noir, drunk from the bottle. Turkish baklava. A great sirloin cut of steak, cooked ultra rare with garlic and shallot sauce.. I'm going to opt for duck confit too, just coz I can!
  7:44pm
Davice:

Play some John Prine - maybe his duet with Iris Dement?
  7:45pm
julie:

spin spider spin please or malvina reynolds
  7:49pm
phillyd:

Hah, i was just getting ready to ask if you would do an early birthday request for me 'Mo and play some Gillian, like you read my mind!
  7:49pm
seang:

cool tune!
  7:51pm
listener gary:

2 ripe bosc pears, a smear or two of stilton cheese, some Carr's whole wheat crackers, and a glass of lilet on the rocks accompained by Eddie Fisher's Wish You Were Here.
Thanks for the Charlie Lewis tip.
Best to dj Monica
  7:52pm
Davice:

Oops!
  7:56pm
dave:

you know, i've always been confused about the "look down my rain barrel" line. what's to see at the bottom of a rain barrel? is this some fun i missed out on?
  7:56pm
Jeff M:

She did that on purpose.

It's just like the Persian rugs which have to have one apparent error in the weave, because only Allah is perfect.
  7:56pm
Jeff M:

It sounds dirty to me.
  7:58pm
Don (trip dub):

I heard Kay Starr sing Wheel of Fortune - sounded like little Ms. Dynamite, Brenda Lee. Great show, Mo. How's the Butter.
  8:00pm
monica:

TomE, that sounds delectable, no dessert?...s'wolf, lovwe yer BF code, lady...CB1, would love that myself...trs, whew! you said it...k, davice.,...JT, indeedhi...phillyd, happy b-day, pallly...hi, seang...listener gary, SO European... ypu're a gent, jeff m....davfe, me too ...julie, thanks much for the fine suggestions but don't think i'll be able to get to them tonight...
  8:00pm
cb1:

Speaking of Harvest Moon - our very first moon flower bloomed yesterday - ever (and we've tried!).
  8:02pm
seang:

probably a killer pie of pizza-- Terry Zwigoff was on Rex's show yesterday
  8:04pm
Jeff M:

We're settling in for a simple, quiet anniversary dinner - mostly featuring delicious glistening brisket from a local BBQ joint. Probably some champagne later.

I can hardly believe it's already been a year since we krazy kidz got hitched. (With some swiped Monica archive shows playing as the music at the reception, to help get averything off to a good start.)
  8:05pm
DJ KG:

awwwwwwwwww.......... and i love the way you say it, monica!
  8:06pm
DJ KG:

my last meal would be a dozen chocolate donuts.

it would serve them right.
  8:08pm
cb1:

Mo - your last meal is hysterical. can I join you?
  8:10pm
Don (trip dub):

So, Boss - listening to Nina Simone reminded me of the tribute at Aaron Davis Hall, speaking of which, Harlem Stage started its new season last night with a 'wedapeoples cabaret' tribute to Abby Lincoln - Billed as 40 artist activists, it was an amazing sampler where our friend Greg Tate performed his 'dope' poetry full of R&B song references. Performance artists, former NYC beat reporter Felipe Luciano's gut spilling, dancers and folksinger Toshi Reagon ended on a call and response 'high' note. I'm a pushover for the chazarai as a last meal also.
  8:10pm
cb1:

And can we get salty fries, too?
  8:11pm
ec:

Butterscott! Thank You. Such a fan.
  8:11pm
dave:

i'd order fugu. that'd show 'em.

or maybe ortolan.
  8:12pm
trs:

cb1 - first moon flower. yeah! I'm still watching for anything beyond the slow slow growth. (Morning glory plants tower metres above.)
  8:14pm
cb1:

trs- true the morning glories are like weeds, but the elusive moon flower - ah!
  8:16pm
trs:

and their apparent features so similar.
  8:17pm
cb1:

trs - was shocked, though, to see the moon flower was about three times as large.
  8:21pm
trs:

oo-oo. and the rest of the plant? tiny? spindly? robust?
  8:22pm
trs:

(p.s. hope you collect its seeds. they'll probably fare better than any others in that locationnext year.)
  8:23pm
cb1:

hard to tell from a regular morning glory, the leaves are just a little bigger.
  8:24pm
cb1:

could have frost here any day so lucky if we get any seeds...
  8:34pm
cheri:

mo--thnx for your company,,i'll see you soon
  8:34pm
Don (trip dub):

The story goes, Dr. Lonnie Smith covered the stops on his Hammond B3 so that other organists wouldn't steel his sound. Can you imagine the cover size on the wurlitzer to protect it from prying eyes?
  8:37pm
trs:

First timer this year, here. Aiming for an early and indoor start next season. Applause to your moonflower bloom, cb2. And the music, monica.
  8:41pm
trs:

er, cb1
  8:43pm
cb1:

better use a peat pot, trs. they don't like to transplant.
  8:45pm
cb1:

Been a killer show, Monica - many, many thanks!
  8:49pm
Boston Roy:

Killer Latino surf, Mo!
  8:55pm
listener gary:

  8:56pm
monica:

  8:56pm
