Listener comments!

david:

Ugh
  11:07am
Marmalade Kitty:

The harmony in "Oh Love Of Mine", sounds like Lennon/Mcartney
  11:14am
emmagineering:

hi michael, david, and KITTY :) it's a lovely fall morning here in Atlanta. windows open, listening to the show. wheee :)
  11:16am
Uzzle:

This song makes me want to smash something. Definitely NOT a #1 HIT, Miguel.
  11:18am
Michael:

Mr Lin - which song?
  11:20am
?:

The Bobby Gentry tune.
  11:22am
Michael:

Wrong
  11:24am
Lucius Tate:

Listen buddy! I put pencils in my ears!
  11:25am
Lucius Tate:

Oh, and Mr. Shelley, I have to send you an mp3 of a song we just recorded that you might enjoy...
  11:27am
Peter:

Amy Rigby is the person we all hoped Liz Phair would grow-up into. Unfortunately, that's not what happened.
  11:31am
Peter:

Dave Edmunds has a great cover of 'Louisiana Man' on the "DE 7" album. Geraint Watkins plays some amazing accordion and piano. Straight from Wales to the bayou.
  11:36am
Michael:

Agree - Liz has disappointed -peaked early
  11:42am
seang:

Have you heard that Pete Molinari song, "Streetcar Named Desire?
  11:44am
david:

We're on a big time roll, now Michael. Keep 'em coming.
  11:50am
will:

Smithereens = Most wildly overrated NYC-area pop band of the 80s/90s. I can name 20 better bands without even trying. There, I've said it.
  11:54am
Michael:

Will - are you saying they are not good - that they have bad songs & play then badly - is that what you're saying?
  11:58am
Peter:

My 2 cents: the Smithereens are exactly the band they set out to be, and never pretended to be anything else. Also, when I saw them maybe 4 or 5 years ago at BB King's, it was one of the best gigs I've ever seen.
'Nuff said.
  11:59am
Peter:

So 'Sea Cruise' lifts Chickee Wah Wah?
  12:01pm
steve:

Wasn't "hiot me with your rhythm stick" an old RootBoy Slim song?
  12:11pm
steve:

Michael, what's the name of the Jorge Ben song you played? It's not on the playlist and I want to find it. Thanks.
  12:14pm
will:

Sorry tried to reply but I think someone censored me. Gee I wasn't that nasty. All I can say is find the first Cave Dogs record JOY RIDES FOR SHUT INS and tell me if anything the Smithereens ever did matches up.
  12:16pm
PSS:

Holy cow Will what will you day the rest of the day if someone doesn't agree with your opinion. Will you be OK?
  12:28pm
#1 FAN:

props for playing Beyond Belief. Love that song!
  12:29pm
Parq:

Always dug that particular Elvis song. It's kind of funny to hear Elvis and Ian in the same segment as "Peppermint Lump". I always associate "Angie's" song with my last days listening to WNEW-FM Where Rock Lives, in fall '79, when it was obvious that they would play anything -- anything at all -- to avoid playing the Stiff crowd and their contemporaries. It was right around then that I first heard 'FMU, and I pretty much told commercial radio to eat it.
  12:29pm
Peter:

Elvis Costello:Imperial Bedroom as Beastie Boys:Paul's Boutique

Both albums are eternally 20 years ahead of 'now'.
  12:48pm
david:

Hadn't heard this BT song in year. Great choice, Michael!
  1:14pm
Michael:

I really like the Purple Wizard version of "I've Been Wrong". And the Buckinghams. But the Kynd version is pretty cool!
  9:36pm
will:

Thanks PSS, my day turned out fine while still confident that the Smithereens are 3rd rate also-rans. I remain yours, W
  11:37pm
Mark Rosen:

Great choice: "Hey Mae" by Les Cousins (their name in France where they hailed from). Check out Rusty and Doug Kershaw's orig.
