Listener comments!

  9:06pm
cheri:

hiya efd--how was your july 4th weekend?? tell me all about it,,
  9:08pm
seang:

yeah man, the 70's---I'm an archive from 1972, left school in 1992
  9:09pm
cheri:

this disco diva lives for the 70s!!
  9:26pm
bigsigsputnik:

Good hearing your voice again!
  9:32pm
efd:

hey there! Glad your dog finally allowed you to tune in!

And greetings seang and cheri.
  9:34pm
Joshua K:

This playlist is all kinds of crazy colors tonight.
  9:36pm
cheri:

so evan--tell us all about your holiday weekend,,
  9:38pm
efd:

not that much to tell, really - saw fireworks in my town, recorded this set with Apache, had a cookout, tried to stay cool. That's pretty much it.

Joshua - these are the new summer colors!
  9:38pm
cheri:

great live set so far,,,
  9:45pm
efd:

Glad you're enjoying it!
  9:59pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans!
I'm sad b/c I left my earphones at home :( (at the Starbucks) so it looks like an archive week for me. Though the first 45 minutes were all kinds of awesome!
  10:01pm
efd:

You blew it, Danne D! Clearly your strengths lie more in fantasy baseball team managing than in earphone-remembering.
  10:02pm
Danne D:

:(
though your leg-breakers (and shoulder tearers) have been slowly depleting my team!
I still have to listen to last week's archive - EFD on my B-day and I was out of town!

(well okay I was in Vega$ but still...)
  10:06pm
efd:

hey, Vegas is out of town. Happy belated birthday!
  10:07pm
Joe:

just bought this single. So great. Sooooo great.
  10:10pm
Danne D:

Thx EFD :)
Your 6/30 show will be like the birthday present I waited a little while to open :)
  10:11pm
Joe:

and that was a great segue
  10:12pm
efd:

thanks Joe, and hello! How was the Upper Crust last week?

Danne, that present is literally the least I could offer you.
  10:16pm
cheri:

evan,,thank you for that live set,,i enjoyed it,,well i'm outa here,,,have a great week,,see ya
  10:18pm
efd:

you're welcome! have a good night!
  10:22pm
Andy:

Greetings from Toronto EFD! Great show - Loved the opening set. How about calling the giveaway the Funky Ticket Oasis ;)
  10:24pm
Joe:

It was spectacular. The Anabolics were great as usual and the nautical environment provided ample sustenance for the lordships usual witty repartee. Unfortunately the boat's schedule only allowed for two encores. Should be pictures up eventually.
  10:27pm
john:

Hey Evan! Damn, going to miss Diamondsnake by, well, two weeks. But it does appear to be that time of year again...pulling out the Manny wig and hitting the road!
  10:29pm
E.L.:

Downloaded! Wish I lived in L.A. I loved that set. Thanks EFD/FMA.
  10:32pm
randy in NC:

efd, great hearing you live at a good time for us working stiffs. It's been mentioned before, but I like this watermelon color scheme...
  10:33pm
Danne D:

I agree about the color scheme - but some 70s funky fonts are now in order ;)

Btw, you'd totally love the Fremont Street experience as they are doing a 70s theme all summer :D
  10:34pm
Danne D:

Jake Peavy, EFD's hit squad's latest victim :(
  10:36pm
efd:

wait, how do I have anything to do with Jake Peavy?!
  10:37pm
Joe:

You know what you did.
  10:38pm
Danne D:

exactly, Joe. EFD's thugs roughed him up and tore his shoulder up.

I'm gonna have to put my players into witness protection soon.
  10:39pm
efd:

Andy, that's not a bad idea! Everything back to normal in T.O. now?

John, too bad you're missing them!

Hey Randy, glad the new time AND new colors are working out for you!

and way to go, E.L.!
  10:45pm
Andy:

EFD - just very hot here, but back to normal after a crazy week of minor but little scary incidents: earthquake/G20 riot/flooding/tornado. All is good listening to EFD show
  10:47pm
Danne D:

How was the riot? Somehow I visualize Canadians as being polite rioters.
  10:50pm
Andy:

Couple of police cars torched, looting. But we say please and thank you when we do! Thankfully no one hurt.
  10:54pm
john:

Kudos to the Pernices for the only mention of Ford Madox Ford (no relation) in pop music.. Scans better than "Joseph Conrad" anyway.
  11:06pm
Joe:

Evan I will give you 50 dollars if you do a whole show in your Le Poisson Rouge accent.

Well maybe not 50 dollars but some... dollars.
  11:09pm
john:

Joe, I'll make up the difference. But it's got to be the entire show, and if anything's actually French, it needs to be in an entirely different accent. Your choice.
  11:15pm
cheri:

evan could you please play some candi staton on next week's show,,thank you efd
  11:23pm
Danne D:

Night Evan, Night Funk Fans :)
  11:25pm
efd:

Good night, Danne. At least when *you* say good night I know you really mean it.
  11:25pm
efd:

also, John and Joe, I think it would take somewhere north of $50 for that french accent thing to happen.
  11:30pm
minnesota jeff:

Woop woop! Minnesota's own, LOOKBOOK! They did some wild Replacements cover at the anniversary "Let it Be" show last year.
  11:31pm
john:

I'll take it as far as $53.50, but after that we're going to need to pass the hat. Perhaps a benefit show? Maybe Diamondsnake will play it.
  11:38pm
efd:

Minnesota's own? Huh, I was thinking they were more Ohio-based. Although with Soft Tags being from Portland it seems like they're kind of from all over. Good band in any case!
  11:41pm
Joe:

Dear Evan -

Stop making me question my opinions on Kiss

sincerely,

Commenteer Joe.
  11:42pm
minnesota jeff:

Well, I guess I don't know the entire pedigree of the band. But I assume they must at least live here. They play here all the time, on the cover of our local Alternative Newspaper recently, plus their myspace says "Minneapolis".
  11:43pm
Captain:

I refuse to believe Paul Stanley wrote this Kiss song -- it sounds just like an actual good song, not a novelty!
  11:45pm
Joe:

wow this Bare Wires is a bit of a departure. A bit of an -awesome- departure.
  11:46pm
minnesota jeff:

You guys must be a koo-koo crazy, that kiss song was classic kiss stinkatude. That Jameson Raid song was killer though.
  11:47pm
Swami:

Soorry so late. . . can I borrow your notes s later??
  11:50pm
minnesota jeff:

EFD - Looking more into things ... the Lookbook from Minneapolis has no one named Christian in it, nor do they have an album called "The Tanning Machine". I am not an affiando on the bands music, but they maybe a tad similar but not the same "Lookbook"
  11:53pm
minnesota jeff:

Ok yeah, there is a Portland Lookbook, and a MPLS Lookbook.
  11:57pm
efd:

aha! Thanks for the legwork, Jeff! We'll just have to agree to disagree re "Sure Know Something."
  12:00am
minnesota jeff:

Yeah, me and Kiss don't get along.
