  11:38pm
Amanda:

I believe that Brothers Johnson song was covered by Quincy Jones in like 1990, which is the reason why I know it. (Hangs head in shame)
  11:41pm
Jenine Bressner:

I turned the radio on as Q-Feel was playing, and I was so psyched! I searched for that record for years, after hearing it in "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" as a kid.
  11:44pm
toni daytona:

it's too bad you didn't meet our cartoonist greg evans,,you know the one who does LUANN.,,efd
  11:48pm
efd:

cool Jenine, glad you enjoyed hearing it!

Amanda, Quincy Jones produced those Brothers Johnson albums in the 70s so it's not much of a stretch that he'd've covered them also. Not terribly imaginative, though.

Toni, I didn't actually meet any cartoonists. Also, no KC tonight I'm afraid. Ironically, I had that LP with me last week, but don't have it tonight.
  11:54pm
toni daytona:

anyone interested in endtables on vinyl? grew up in louisville around this time, endtables, dickbrains, strict 9, babylon dance band. pretty sure i still have the ep somewhere and maybe a track on a compilation ep.
  12:46am
efd:

how many vinyl releases did they have, jk? I totally missed them back in the day...
  12:53am
jk:

i think it was only two. if i'm not mistaken, the one i have (which has the same cover as the cd) has 4 tracks and then maybe another single. i have one or two e.p.'s from louisville around then and they may have had a track on one of them too.
  12:56am
jOEEES:

degobah system is in reference to star wars... Think it's where Yoda lives.
  1:00am
efd:

oh jeez, really?! I guess I just outed myself as a non-Star Wars nerd.

jk, thanks for the Endtables info... cool that you've got that stuff, what a great band!
  1:07am
jk:

yeah, it was a fun time. also, didn't mean to make it look like i was selling it, i've held on too long to let it go now.
  1:47am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Steve Marriott--a man who could do no wrong (except maybe smoking in bed) but certainly as great as any musically
  1:50am
efd:

Agreed, Michael.
  1:53am
TRST:

oh. wow. i can type to the dj in real time. awesome.

HEY. in 2006 someone on WFMU played a song called "Mellow Boy" by a band called Hot Love, or vice versa. i have searched for it on the internet ever since, even willing to pay money to hear it again, but no luck. any chance you know what i'm talking about?
  1:55am
TRST:

also i usually love your show.
thanks for doing it.
  1:57am
efd:

hey thanks, TRST! Not sure what song that is offhand - have you tried the playlist search engine? http://wfmu.org/searchadv.php
  2:00am
TRST:

THANK YOU!!!!
  3:00pm
rory:

I really like RVIVR. Thanks for introducing them to me. Disagree with the emo comment earlier. But even if it was, who cares? As long as the music is good, genre is irrelevant. Hoping to see them in Seattle.
  2:56pm
Stephen Rader:

Endtables? If anyone wants to chat about the endtables, I grew up with them, and still talk to them occassionally alex, and would love to chat about them....
