Listener comments!

  12:07pm
bw:

man this is already awesome! and its just Liz and Scott.. what fun.. make sure you have everyone come by the tents!
  12:08pm
Cecile:

I just realized if I never eat out again, I could travel a whole hell of a lot more!
I'm going to explore that.
  12:09pm
bw:

is there a wfmu sandwich ?
  12:12pm
Duke of Earl Grey:

Cecile, my parents used that strategy to good effect when I was a kid. Allowed us to drive way out west, among other things. But it helped that we lived in a rural area without many tempting food options. We never got to Barcelona though.
  12:13pm
pau santesmasses:

Ohhhh, how i wish you had Nueva Vulcano at 1:20....
  12:14pm
Liz B.:

Hi everybody and thanks for tuning in! Alas, there is no WFMU sandwich... yet, that is!
  12:14pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

In case the news hasn't reached Spain yet, BP has stopped the oil leak, at least for the time being. Maybe WFMU can hook up with some southern Louisiana show for a live broadcast from the Gulf Coast.
  12:15pm
still b/p:

Ramen today, Rome/Rangoon/Reykjavik tomorrow.
  12:16pm
efd:

aw man, I'm having jealous flashbacks to last year. Hi Liz, Scott and all the other FMUers!
  12:23pm
Hugo:

All the best to the FMU field crew! I haven't been to Barcelona in ages. These days it's usually directly to the Costa Blanca region (south of Valencia).
  12:27pm
bryce:

you guys sound awesome. love you!! xo
  12:31pm
Carmichael:

Hi Liz, Hi Scott!! This sounds incredibly incredible!
  12:40pm
Matt:

Wow. I saw MOB play this at the Siren festival a couple of years back. It was amazing.
  12:42pm
Joe D.:

Sounds great! SO AWESOME!

That's some great signage you guys got going on over there - but how does one properly explain the Pulaski Skyway to a European?
  12:44pm
maria:

hey sounding great guys!!

Unfortunately Ken From hyde park is not correct, BP has not "stopped the oil leak" at all yet. They stil dont know if the 'top kill' has been effective. Just sayin.
  12:44pm
Joe D.:

wait I got it-

"It's like instead of designing the Autobahn, he -is- the Autobahn"
  1:00pm
CheriPi:

I am planning my trip to Primavera for next year, I'm so jealous that it makes me want to SLAP MY MAMMY!!!
  1:02pm
bryce:

did you hear that, williams?
  1:08pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

this is cool but I miss my Bryce Friday.
  1:09pm
andymorphic:

yes.....fantastic. love mission of burma
  1:10pm
Mebob:

Whats the weather like there in Barca? ...good audio!
  1:11pm
Joe D.:

people would stop staring if you just put some clothes on.
  1:11pm
tj:

mission of burma rocks!
  1:16pm
Marty:

You are making me hungry, I want a WFMU sandwich and Benicio Ice Cream.
  1:17pm
fan:

you guys are funny! can´t wait to hear sic alps and oh sees!
  1:20pm
slugluv1313:

YAY!!!!!!! SIC ALPS!!!!!!!!!!!
  1:22pm
Carmichael:

It appears that Christo designed the yellow umbrella picture.
  1:25pm
adi:

sic alps are sic!
  1:26pm
Chris from DC:

Will this stuff be archived? Gotta hear Burma.
  1:28pm
Scott W:

Hi everyone! Great to hear so much love from back home. The weather today is grey and wet actually, unlike the pork we're grating on our Condofucks hamburguesa. Hope to archive a lot of stuff, but that's for laters.
  1:28pm
Liz B.:

Yes, we have permission to archive everything! Some sets will only be up for a limited time, but archives will be posted.
  1:29pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

was listening to a jazz/prog show but gots ta tune in for some Sic ness.
  1:35pm
Skirkie:

I was in the car for the earlier sandwich talk so I'll say now:

The Secondary Meat is a great band name.
  1:38pm
mixer:

mix much? i can only hear vocals and drums. it's the sic alps, where's the guitar?
  1:40pm
C:

sounds good from here! but i'm not familiar with this band so don't really know how it's supposed to sound.
  1:41pm
pseu:

I can hear the guitar, everything perfectly. GREAT JOB all !
  1:43pm
mixer:

i stand corrected
  1:46pm
perrin:

yeah sounds good, better than most live rock shows (every try to listen to the superbowl halftime show? OMFG awful).
  1:47pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I saw these guys once and was kind of wasted, which is really the best way to see them.
  1:52pm
dc pat:

I dunno perrin, Prince sounded pretty great--all you could hear was his insane guitar.
  1:53pm
Ne-guh-tor:

I'm gonna do a lot of drugs this weekend and pretend I'm there! Enjoying the coverage!
  1:55pm
paul b:

Sic Alps sound great, an evolving band with a sound hard to categorize at any rate. I've loved them for a number of years. I read a story by Arthur Machen and looked him up on the google and was delivered Sic Alps instead (who do a song called Arthur Machen) It made perfect sense and I was sold.
  1:55pm
perrin:

true - I was thinking more of the who and rolling stones
  1:56pm
FrancoCulero:

come down easy.. great cover :)
  1:57pm
dc pat:

ech! The Who blew, no doubt. And it pains me to say that...
  1:58pm
Mo:

Monotonix are great band and great guys.
  2:00pm
perrin:

the rolling stones halftime show sounded like it was mixed by a monkey on angel dust on a tascam cassette tape 4 track.
  2:01pm
drr:

Sic Alps at times sounded kind of like druggy Alex Chilton.
  2:02pm
fan:

what´s wrong with a tascam cassette tape 4 track?
  2:02pm
Billy Jam:

hey no problem Brian - its great you guys are there.....will be tuned in for rest of the festival
  2:04pm
adi:

MONOTONIX!
  2:04pm
andymorphic:

are these performances going to be archived for later enjoyment?
  2:04pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

@fan, it probably wasn't the tascam 4 track's fault...more likely the monkey on angel dust.
  2:05pm
perrin:

If I was in a garage with the rolling stones, a tascam 4 track would be an awesome live mixing console. for a "professional" live digital tve broadcast to 1 billion people, not so much.
  2:05pm
andymorphic:

tascan's rule must be a fostex
  2:06pm
BT:

Andy, yep, many will be archived, some for limited time however.
  2:09pm
andymorphic:

thats great! loving it all so far.
  2:09pm
andymorphic:

what would be on a wfmu sandwich?
  2:10pm
Mo:

Monotonix love scrapple!
  2:21pm
Joe D.:

I'd imagine the results of giving Monotonix some scrapple during one of their sets would be identical to throwing said scrapple into a large, high powered fan.
  2:23pm
Mo:

No they enjoyed it, especially with ketchup.
  2:31pm
Chris:

darn missed the druggy Alex Chiltons
the tent is looking good though...but i can't see where you placed the bidet
  2:46pm
Chris:

pavement NOT missing notes? what happened?
  2:51pm
Brian:

Who did they say backed out of letting wfmu broadcast?
  2:51pm
Marty McSorley:

the Fall
  2:57pm
Brian:

that sucks -- but the lineup is top notch anyway!
  2:57pm
Skirkie:

Gary Coleman died, just thought Spain should know.
  2:58pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@maria - Yeah, one must beware of mass media. At least what they're saying seems better than "it just keeps getting worse" rhetoric.

How about the Gary Coleman death report? Skirkie has heard that one.
  2:59pm
CheriPi:

The Gary Coleman story isn't on the news yet-you heard it first on WFMU.
  2:59pm
Chris:

poor little guy...such a sad and tragic life.
  3:04pm
em:

nup, ny times reported 3 minutes ago on gary coleman's death. 42 years old.
  3:06pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

We're into Billy Jam time now. I was supposed to be in at work today, but been bombarded by IMs from work people since this morning. The good part about that, of course, is WFMU turned up to an enjoyable volume all day. Thanks for making working from home so good.
  3:11pm
Rob:

When will Ganglians be broadcast?
  3:16pm
andymorphic:

no!!!!! not the fall....everytime i might hear them live something happens...!!!
  3:17pm
BT:

Ganglians at 7PM ET. See the home page for the entire b'cast schedge. Upcoming, Sunny Day in Glasgow at 3:30, Thee OhSees at 4:45, New Pornographers at 5:40, Wire 7:30, Pavement 8:45, Marc Almond 1030p
  3:19pm
dw:

You could always crack open one of The Fall's 1000 Peel Sessions later...
  3:23pm
dw:

...but not quite the same as the outdoor rock show I guess.
  3:36pm
Ne-guh-tor:

King Kong Ding Dong, King Kong Ding Dong, King Kong Ding Dong, King Kong Ding Dong, King Kong Ding Dong!
  3:37pm
dc pat:

who needs the stinky old Fall when you got the Thee fresh young Oh Sees??
  3:40pm
jk:

anyone know of a lower manhattan or brooklyn bar with the broadcast on? i'd love to grab a beer and listen to thee oh sees.
  3:40pm
CheriPi:

More pictures from the tent! We need live video feed.
  3:42pm
dc pat:

wow, that'd be nice--a decent bar playing FMU stream? Somebody should make that happen...
  3:43pm
Parq:

Shame about Gary C --what do you suppose the producers of "Avenue Q" will do about it?
  3:43pm
bobby:

i'm calling b.s. on sunny day in glasgow
  3:47pm
Pat in Philadelphia:

Anybody got a glowstick?
  3:47pm
north guinea hills:

I don't get the Avenue Q refences, "sucks to be you". Wasn't that a Broadway musical or something?, I vaguely remember the cab ads years ago.
  3:48pm
Rob:

Must be delayed? Didn't A Sunny Day play earlier in the day?
  3:48pm
Kevin in Philadelphia:

Hi Pat
  3:50pm
Parq:

NGH (and anyone else who is puzzled) - one of the jokes in Ave Q is that the building super, played by a cute young woman, is actually Gary Coleman lying doggo after his peccadillos caught up with him.
  3:51pm
Chris:

can you guess how many people in that photo are looking down at their phones?
  3:54pm
K.I.P:

Enya is dead, long live Enya
  3:54pm
Rob:

I was seeing a lot of (live) Ganglians tweets an hour ago (~3:00ET).
  3:59pm
?:

is it me, or does the Primavera crowd look like it was imported from Brooklyn, shoulder bags and all?
  4:00pm
Parq:

Interesting comparison, KIP. I was thinking Tracyanne Campbell from Camera Obscura. Maybe it's the power of suggestion from seeing Glasgow in the name.
  4:09pm
em:

i can see the camera obscura similarity, except in sunny's case i can actually understand the words.
  4:10pm
em:

well, most of the time, anyway.
  4:10pm
Chris:

funny, i was just thinking, what are these foks singing about?
  4:12pm
Chris:

folks...what is a fok anyhow.
  4:13pm
Dumb fok:

Idda no.
  4:16pm
em:

EARLIER!!!
  4:21pm
Skirkie:

Y'all have been saying y'all a lot.
  4:31pm
punkdrunk:

thee oh sees sounds amazing damn shazzzam
  4:32pm
joe the mason:

great job, gang. or as we say up here, 'wicked awesome'.
  4:34pm
mafan:

what time will Marc Almond be on-I am in California
  4:35pm
Liz B.:

Marc Almond will be on around 7:30pm California time.
  4:35pm
mafan:

Thank You!!!!
  4:38pm
Ne-guh-tor:

Alf is in a coma at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego!
  4:38pm
Carmichael:

Did they build those skyscrapers just for the set?!?
  4:38pm
Skirkie:

Yessssss ♥
  4:39pm
Skirkie:

Er, not answering the question, just, you know.
  4:41pm
Ne-guh-tor:

COCAINE!
  4:41pm
north guinea hills:

not quite in my brain!
  4:43pm
Ne-guh-tor:

The lead vocalist in the middle of the last kick-ass song just asked the audience of thousands to direct him to a coke purchase after the show. Networking!
  5:18pm
esch oder anarchie:

OMD you soccer ignoramuses -- it was the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, not the World Cup or the European Cup (which Spain did win, two years ago).
  5:25pm
N/A:

WIRE!!!
  5:25pm

  5:27pm
Liz B.:

  5:44pm
The PrimaBot:

Nope, Wilco is happening, I think they thought it was live right at the moment....
  5:46pm
