Listener comments!

 9:45am
Cecile:

Hiya, nobody's commented yet?
 9:46am
Matti:

We're all in a trance
 9:48am
officina:

nice piece, reminds me a bit of the Wm Basinski's loops.
 9:51am
bobw:

this will probably be a weird show.
 9:51am
paul:

cassettes are totally the hip new thing!
 9:52am
Cecile:

you have to work for your music on a cassette. They're hard to cue and fragile
 9:53am
LizGig:

I think I have an old walkman in the attic. Might be time to dig it out and dust it off.
 10:06am
LizGig:

Were all these things really released on cassette? And why?
 10:08am
bobw:

inexplicably, yes. cassette. it's very anti-social!
 10:13am
LizGig:

Back in my pirate days, I would queue songs before I went to the station (or fundraising gig) and put a coloured sticker on the side with the track I wanted. The other DJs thought this was really weird. However, there is nothing worse during a disco than seguing onto the WRONG SIDE of a cassette.
 10:14am
paul:

alright thats making me nod off at my desk. need some coffee now...
 10:16am
Cecile:

Is this from that one Felix Cappalardi album where he did Arabian rock?
 10:17am
Cecile:

the Devil's Anvil!
 10:17am
Cecile:

damn I am good.
 10:18am
dc pat:

This is a perfect show for today. Got into work covered in grit from the rain.
 10:20am
paul:

coffee machine is broken nooooooooooooooooooooooo
 10:21am
Cecile:

I AM SO F'ING GOOD. It was the Devil's Anvil!

I looked it up online. Haven't heard that in close to 30 years.
 10:24am
Ben:

What's playing now?
 10:25am
Cecile:

That was the Gun Club.
 10:25am
Cecile:

Now I don't know. But I could cheat and look it up.
 10:27am
dc pat:

Gun Club?? No way!
 10:29am
Cecile:

Dead Moon...I'm not awake. Let me see.
 10:30am
dc pat:

yeah one of them sounded like Dead Moon
 10:31am
Cecile:

Here we go. The songs from the tape as Bob played them:

Unknown Artist - Banjo Introduction Theme
Devils Anvil, The* - Waali Dala
West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, The - I Won't Hurt You
Dead Moon - Demonia
Gun Club, The - River Of Sorrow
Los Mockers - The Empty Heart
Francoise Hardy* - Le Premiere Bon Heur Du Jour
 10:34am
Cecile:

I'm all for the bikers, but please be kind to us pedestrians. A bike bell is a nice thing, or a shout of "On your left!"
 10:35am
Cecile:

We have Transit-sponsored bike lockers in Minneapolis at our Park-and-Ride bus stops. You sign up, get a key.
 10:35am
dc pat:

ok, but don't step out in front of us against the light, and not look.
 10:36am
Cecile:

That would not be me. I am very careful about that.
 10:39am
dc pat:

yep, I'm a pedestrian too, so I hear you.
 10:43am
dc pat:

I have mixed feelings about red lights--my brother-in-law says he has no use for red lights. I can see that but at the same time, if we don't play by the rules, why should we expect everyone else to? What am I talking about, nobody stops at red lights anymore...
 10:45am
mike noble:

just tuning in/logging on. is bobw in a weird mood because of the thorough trouncing his habs got last night? go flyers!
 10:46am
jk:

as a bicyclist in Boston I treat red lights as stop signs. I cross when it's safe and feel that this is a good method but I understand that it's not the law. Still, the only times I've ever been hit have been when I had the green
 11:01am
dc pat:

wow, ridethecity.com is pretty cool. veloroutes.org is good for mapping out a ride with mileage, elevation, etc. You can save the ride too.
 11:02am
Carmichael:

Good mornin' all.
 11:05am
mike noble:

huh, veloroutes looks almost identical to gmap-pedometer
 11:05am
Carmichael:

Speaking of bikes, The AmGen Bicycle tour just whizzed through our streets yesterday.
 11:08am
dc pat:

The Giro d'Italia is going to be whizzing by my house in 2012.
 11:13am
LizGig:

Bicycles don't have to stop at red lights? How bizarre!
 11:16am
LizGig:

The Irish rules of the road booklet has a section for cyclists. The cycling safety section begins with
'You must obey the rules applying at traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, pelican crossings and zebra crossings.'
 11:20am
dc pat:

Say, these Landlords are swell.
 11:26am
dc pat:

cyclists are an elite set of people--the chosen people, you might say--who, because they have taken it upon themselves to make the world a better place, operate with a completely different set of rules than other travelers, so, yes LizGig, red lights have no power over us.
 11:31am
Cecile:

*coughs uncontrollably*
 11:32am
Cecile:

They have to stop at red lights in MN. If cyclists are on the road, they have to follow motor vehicle rules.
 11:35am
north guinea hills:

In Gainesville, FL, I got multiple tickets for failing to stop at a stop sign, or having a bike light. The campus cops even got a friend of mine for speeding (downhill) on his bike.
 11:41am
mike noble:

is that from kevin's bubble tape? is that on "what's yr rupture"?
 11:41am
Cecile:

Damn, if Mississippi made money with their mixtapes, I bet I could dup my old ones and make a fortune. Or not.
 11:48am
bobw:

sorry for being a bit of an absent d.j. this morning. despite the bizarre habs score last night there was much celebrating some 16 hours ago, and i'm still in a fog. cassettes... cassettes...
 11:48am
Uli:

thats why i had my bike equipppped with klingon stealth technology
 11:52am
Ken From Hyde Park:

For a couple of years, I rode bike to work often. My present home is a bit further away form work and the route isn't bike-friendly and I have no shower at work.
 11:55am
still b/p:

And...signals signals signals. If drivers would use turn signals, bike life would be a li'l less edgy. Blink me. Blink me now.
 11:58am
dc pat:

right on, still b/p. and GET OFF THE FEKKIN PHONE.
 12:28pm
mimi:

weird. as predicted. but GREAT!
