Listener comments!

  11:14pm
Jan Coztás:

The Pleasure Kills remind me of a band called Beat Caravan from Japan. Cool.
  11:19pm
E.L.:

HHDYD2U
  11:21pm
Danne D:

Good to hear the Specials!
Hello funk friends!

Greetings Evan, you're more like Evan Thump Davies after your performance in Week 2 of the fantasy league or to put it as a headline: "Loaders Smack Dopes"
  11:23pm
efd:

hey Danne, hey, E.L., hey Jan! Not familiar with Beat Caravan, sounds like I need to check them out.

Danne, I'm treating that week 2 trouncing as an aberration. For now.
  11:29pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

EFD--what's up with Big Papi?
  11:31pm
Danne D:

Ooh! Ooh! Don't spoil the ending of Super Sox '75 EFD!

Btw, I think your team is Carbo Loaded.

Now how the heck the pieced together a 7-4-1 effort against Aharon this past week is absolutely incomprehensible to me.

I do have the most honest team in the league though.
  11:31pm
Danne D:

My team can't steal a damn thing!
  11:33pm
Danne D:

Ska Wars is a great 4-CD compilation. It has a live version of that song Evan.
  11:34pm
john:

Lord Lucan was accused of murdering his children's nanny some time in the 1970s, and then vanished. Never did turn up again. Big story in the UK.
  11:35pm
?:

How do I post a comment?
  11:35pm
AZ:

Blind Date: one of the greatest album covers of the Seventies!
  11:36pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

Fear not EFD--I heard the Specials are playing Central Park this summer
  11:38pm
!:

You did it!
  11:38pm
Danne D:

Jeez you know it was a long time ago if they had to get past the Pirates!
  11:40pm
efd:

Michael, honestly I'm less worried about Ortiz than about the overall team malaise at this point. But still, they haven't even played 10% of the season so I'm not out on the ledge... yet. And thanks for the Central Park Specials tip.

AZ, you are correct! I'll be adding it to the playlist tomorrow.
  11:41pm
Sybil:

just got back from a Yom Haatzmaut party and... I hear the name Petrocelli! YOW!
  11:44pm
efd:

hi Sybil! Perfect timing!
  11:48pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

never thought I'd hear Dick Stockton on WFMU!
  11:48pm
Sybil:

I can not tell you how much good this is doing my heart. Yaz, sir, that's my baby.
  11:49pm
John from FTL:

No more Red Sox 75. I listen to your show mostly on my MP3 player. So last Saturday night i met a girl at a bar and was bringing her home when we started kissing in the car and the Red Sox 75 came on. It totally ruined the mood. But don’t worry the rest of the night ended well. Love the show Even!
  11:50pm
Danne D:

You should post that Carlton Fisk photo on the playlist if you can EFD (it's an AP copyright I believe)
  11:50pm
Danne D:

HOME RUN!!!!!! JOHN FROM FTL!!!!
  11:50pm
Sybil:

That can't be John, can it?
  11:51pm
efd:

Not to worry, John, this is the final installment! But come on, did "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" teach you nothing?? ;)
  11:52pm
HOME RUN!??!?!!?!?!?!?!?:

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11:56pm
Sybil:

Red Sox 1975 followed by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists? Have mercy!
  11:57pm
Danne D:

So...uh...what happened in game 7?

Love the Ted Leo :)
  11:59pm
efd:

Game 7? What Game 7?

yeah, pretty funny how they just act as if that game never happened!
  11:59pm
Sybil:

Oh yeah, kill the buzz, Danne. ;)

Next Tues I hit Citi Field again. Wish me luck, or something, all.
  12:01am
Danne D:

Have Fun Sybil!

I still haven't seen the new ballparks :(

I'm also upset that they schedule my Bengals to play the Jets on Thanksgiving - will be really hard for me to make that game :(
  12:03am
Spoony:

Does The Above remind anyone else of The Forty-Fives? I mean that in the best way possible.
  12:03am
john:

Wasn't me. I actually managed to drop off for just long enough to miss Game 7 (who won?) and Ted Leo. Crazy week. Evening, all!
  12:05am
Laurie:

Whenever you refer to the most popular segment of your show, I want to say "Evans in the News"
  12:05am
Sybil:

john! Hey!
  12:05am
john:

And good luck, or something, Sybil! Chiti Field is, if nothing else, clean and new and has lots of pictures of Brooklyn Dodgers in it. But it's no Shea.
  12:06am
Sybil:

Nothing is Shea, this is true.
  12:09am
Sybil:

Oh, and What Laurie Said.
  12:11am
Danne D:

Hi Laurie in Chapel Hill :)
  12:14am
Michael from the Left Coast:

two for tuesday?
  12:17am
Sybil:

I'll report back after my excursion next week. For now, I've been awake for far too long, and efd is equally good when you're half-asleep, although few are around to tell us. (Sorry, efd!)
  12:20am
efd:

no worries, Sybil - thanks for stopping by and enjoy the game next week!

Michael, that was just a long one-for Tuesday of Ngozi Family.

Laurie (and Sybil), glad you enjoyed Evans In The News. Maybe it'll come back some day.
  12:26am
E.L.:

I saw Awesome Color at a sorely under-attended show in Providence. They killed it and they were really nice too. Good stuff.
  12:27am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Soulds kind of like a more sedate Jim Jones revue
  12:41am
Joe:

question: Why are psych-pop or psych-garage or anything psychy and not heavy always referred to as "confections"?
  12:44am
Danne D:

hmmm, maybe it has to do with the brownies they were eating during the recording sessions?
  12:45am
Joe:

it's not 420 anymore, Danne
  12:46am
Joe:

PS - that Herpes info looks like it wandered off Brian Turner's playlist and somehow ended up on EFDs.
  12:50am
E.L.:

Wait— they ate four hundred and twenty brownies? That seems impossible.
  12:50am
Danne D:

LOL Joe.
But Cinco De Funko is coming up soon! :) In two weeks in fact!
  12:52am
Joe:

yes! forgot about that! LOVE IT
  12:59am
Joe:

Already downloaded both of their free EPs based on their performance last week. Simply amazing.
  1:00am
efd:

good work, Joe!
  1:04am
Joe:

The best part is, for people like me who are totally concerned with the legality of all their actions - the downloads are completely on-the-level!
  1:08am
Danne D:

Seven Second Delay is getting all slick with these like legitimate guests and stuff!
  1:25am
Danne D:

Well off to sleep for me.
Thanks for another great show Evan :)

Fairwell Funk Faithful!
  1:26am
Michael from the Left Coast:

Giorgio Moroder into AC/DC--take that Jack-FM format
  1:27am
efd:

that's right!

Goodnight Danne, thanks for stopping by.
  1:28am
Joe:

Bon Scott for ever.

FOR EVER
  1:29am
Joe:

it's two words because it's important.
  1:33am
efd:

no argument here.
  1:44am
Joe:

You have no idea how insanely conflicted this song is making me feel.

Absolutely none.
  1:46am
efd:

oh, I think I do.

Wait til you see the video.
  1:46am
Joe:

It's like if someone who was a kid, now, was listening to the radio in 10 years and heard the Jonas Brothers singing a really, really good song.
  1:47am
Elwyn:

I was wondering what happened to Hanson.... but was too lazy and apathetic to look them up on Wikipedia. Which ones became junkies?
  1:48am
Laurie:

Elwyn: None of them. I think they're all married with kids.
  1:49am
Joe:

There's a DANCE for it.

I literally want to beat myself up.
  1:50am
Elwyn:

@Laurie:
No f#@king way! They ended up having normal balanced adult lives? Sure none of them take crystal meth to deal with their adolescence?
  1:52am
Joe:

For your viewing pleasure:

The Thinkin' Bout Somethin' Dance instructional video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T9DTolXqj4

never again will you get so much out of a 9 minute investment
  1:54am
Laurie:

EElwyn: I am sure. They toured two years ago to raise awareness about poverty and AIDS in Africa and walked a mile barefoot before each show with their fans, and I know way too much about Hanson.

I am not embarrassed about this, they grew up fiiiiine. And we all know Evan's love for Tinted Windows.
