Hi everyone, that Jesus sample was just too crazy to pass up!

The new oneohtrix point never album (compilation of his old cdrs/tapes) is pretty damn sublime. Liz, you'd like it.
  12:19pm
north guinea hills:

What do you know about this 10? Is not a very google friendly band name. I really like this.
  12:21pm
Liz B.:

NGH, here's the info about 10 on the FMA:

One member is Korean and the other is Japanese.

chirrupy awesomeness, BSI!
  12:40pm
north guinea hills:

Music from the film sounds like i spilled beer on my turntable as it spun a 45 off center. (apparently, this happens often enough.)
  12:42pm
dc pat:

Death Sentence Panda are most excellent.
  12:43pm
Liz B.:

Good ears, NGH! The Music from the Film 7" comes with a spindle that has 3 off-center holes to play it from. Alas I did not spill beer on it, but good idea...
  12:47pm
fred:

NGH, when I saw 10 a few years ago during a festival, I spoted them coming in the day after their show. That one took place in an arts center that was showing a Kiarostami retrospective, and they stopped before a big red poster for his movie "10" -- red is their color too, so I guess they had to notice that weird coincidence.
  12:51pm
north guinea hills:

suite weirdness, Fred!

Ladies?? I think it's one woman + 2 men in DS:P!

I would have to say MBV's "ecstasy and wine" (It took me about 12 years to find that (i only buy records at brick and mortar stores)) but i also paid $50 for a philip glass' "music w/ changing parts" (org pressing) when I was a broke-ass grad student at etherea, luckily, my friend that was working there got me a discount.
  1:15pm
north guinea hills:

"ecstasy and wine" was a disappointment after the long wait to find it.
  1:19pm
drunkengrass:

Most of my music collection is composed of one-off songs by obscure bands where I've been unable to find their albums. I've kept mental and real lists with me when searching through other's music collections and those of old record stores. I enjoy discovering something unexpected.
  1:19pm
Liz B.:

Give me your stories of silly quests for your 'holy grail' records.

Liz B.:

Ha ha, I am a retard, getting DPS mixed up with the offshoot TITS (which is all ladies).

Lovin' this Dinowalrus... thanks, Liz... and happy monday, too.
  1:23pm

ah, cool. I thought I was confused for a minute.

Solid set Liz! Thanks!

drunkengrass:

Yeah, great stuff today. Keep it coming! How about something by the Mekons. I've not heard them in years or some West Coast Fuzz.

Hi Liz and everyone, sticking my head through the cyber-door for a minute. Lots of work today, as well as lots of hangover. Play it loud, Liz.

My holy grail was Captain Beefheart's Legendary A&M Sessions EP. I couldn't find it anywhere in San Francisco or NorCal at all, which was puzzling (way before the internet ...). Much later, I went to Goodwill for a crappy 8-track player to play my crappy 8-tracks I inherited. The Captain was sitting right there on a shelf, next to Zappa's Live at the Roxy EP. I snagged them both!
  2:09pm
Nancy Garcia:

Nice playlist.

papaya man:

yes!

dei xhrist:

It took a couple hours before I remembered my own hunted wax... In that dingy area between high school, college, and crap jobs, I heard a Magnetic Fields tune on the local college station. It was one of many a pop tune that stuck... 5 or 6 years later I became a DJ myself on that station, and my 3rd and last year there, the station lost its storage and had to empty out cd hell. Having a minivan, I made out like a bandit (Thrill Jockey albums hadn't been popular at the station for some time). Among the 5000 cds was Magnetic Fields' Wayward Bus, featuring the liltingly lovely Josephine.
Getting rid of the 4500 other cds was tough.
