Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from February 12, 2010 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Listener comments!

  12:14pm
Ike:

Bryce, you lazy bastard! Do you need me to come over there on Friday mornings and throw a large cat on you to wake you up?!? MEOW.
  12:15pm
bryce:

small cat, please.
  12:15pm
perrin:

sounds a bit like peter and the wolf on acid
  12:16pm
jc:

Such hostility, oh my! How come you hate cats so bad?
  12:17pm
numbatwombat:

hi bryce! word to the radulescu!
  12:21pm
Ike:

I ♥ me some cats. And they would love jumping on Bryce and waking him up so that he gets to FMU on time.

I do hate salamanders though.
  12:23pm
bryce:

peter and the wolfe?
  12:26pm
perrin:

its the 21st century, you should change your tag line from "my CD's never skip" to my MP3's never skip" ...
  12:26pm
annie:

you playing this for the newest listener to fmu, bryce, who asked which deejay played classical ? ;)
  12:27pm
annie:

and leave out the apostrophes while you're at it.. that was soooo 20th century
  12:29pm
Jed:

Bryce,

I got your fax. My fax machine is broken. My phone is broken. My computer is broken. My apartment is broken. My death is Josh Brolin. Broiling. Broasting. Coasting. Losing. fading. Out!
  12:32pm
Leech:

catscape
  12:33pm
Jed:

fading........

By the way, cheese toast is pleasant.
  12:33pm
Jed:

  12:33pm
bryce:

JED, B12 B12 B12 B12 B12 B12 B12!!!
  12:36pm
Ike:

Seriously, I'll do it. I've got a cat who is all ready to go on Friday mornings. Not a small one, punk. He's large and in charge. I'll take him on the light rail with me at 10 a.m. and come down there and throw him on you. I WILL.
  12:36pm
annie:

jed, you really gotta get out more.
  12:36pm
bryce:

danderbath

annie, if it gets fmu a tax break, i'm in. excuse me while i pull out jed's fillings
  12:37pm
bryce:

wtf, mercury amalgalm?????
  12:38pm
north guinea hills:

So, Bryce, does your 2009 Marathon premium include a playlist somewhere?
  12:41pm
#1 Bryce fan:

Has the 09 premium gone out?
  12:42pm
#2 Bryce Fan:

Take your time!
  12:44pm
Ike:

I got it. When I got the package, I expected to open it up and find a pad of paper from Trent with the Apple logo blurrily printed on it, but instead it was Bryce's premium, without any liner notes or anything. Which is OK because it preserves his mysterious allure, I guess.

For 2010 he should just make some funny noises for an hour into a microphone and burn the first take to a disc.
  12:46pm
bryce:

hahaa!

OKAY, HERE'S THE DEAL:

yes -AND- no

....apparently there was an error in the shipping dept, and CDs were sent without the elaborate packaging i'd bled on.

THUSLY, packaging will apparently arrive separately.
  12:48pm
bryce:

many apologies, from the corner of my liver, as the turks say.
  12:49pm
perrin:

rather than make funny noises, bryce should invite lady gaga on his show, but then force her to wear cloths from walmart and play and acoustic set. I'd pay big bucks for that
  12:52pm
Jed:

Annie, I am out. I'm at work. Me, books and space. Air. Quiet.
  12:53pm
BSI:

eh? What's all this about the 09 premium? Just when I'd nearly given up all hope and begun worshipping whatever that is in the fridge...
  12:54pm
annie:

well, then, jed, my man, that cot you sleep on in the back?? well... move it to the fire escape.
  12:54pm
Jed:

but you're right, I DO need to get out more, and I have too much time on my hands. Also, I need to take my medication, and other cliches
  12:54pm
Matt:

Is it too late to get a premium cd? Sorry, I'm a littel out the loop on how that works.
  12:55pm
numbatwombat:

the hv piece is making me feel like i am on the bottom of a river and large fishes and currents and stones and silt is sort of churning on top of me but you know in a totally groovy way.
  12:57pm
bryce:

hey, BSI, apparently, the CDs shipped without the handmade packing?? so there's going to be a second round of envelopes leaving...

matt, they're talking about bonus swag from pledging to the '09 fundraising marathon.....but the next one is coming up in like 3 weeks, with a whole new round of garbage!
  12:57pm
north guinea hills:

well, thanky kindly, brycey.
  12:57pm
Leech:

numbatwombat, have you notified your Significant Other(s) that you are having an imaginary affair with silt?
  12:58pm
Jed:

Screw Bryce's premium. I wanna know if he's ever done it with Dorothea Tanning.
  12:58pm
numbatwombat:

bryce i think at this point maybe you could have an entire set of persons named horatio-variants who make all sort of rad noise.
leech - thankfully i have no significant others except cat and she digs the wfmu.
  12:59pm
annie:

sterling yates would so totally dig this noisesome stuff
  1:00pm
numbatwombat:

cat is dependent (?) rather than significant other but same sort of drift.
  1:01pm
dannywithpants:

We are all zeroes. We are all zeroes!! Go Bryce!
  1:01pm

numbatwombat:

my affair with silt is a) hardly imaginary and b) certainly no secret. cat likes audio silt. me too. real silt only sometimes. at bottom of coffee.
  1:03pm
Leech:

NumWom- please fill out your 2010 census accordingly. Your cat may be entitled to write you off as dependent, so long as you are a slave to her and her personal needs at all times.
  1:03pm
BSI:

hm.. haven't seen the CD without the packaging either. But then, we (in DC) haven't had mail delivery in a week. Surrsly. The great sky narwhal is punishing us, clearly.
  1:04pm

ANOTHER PHENOMENAL SHOW!!!! thanks Bryce
  1:05pm
perrin:

gosh, I never thought I would miss the vietnamese blood soup discussions
  1:05pm
numbatwombat:

sadly i am disappointing also to cats.
  1:06pm
Leech:

This track sits perfectly in the audio spectrum with my sizzling radiator. Thanks Bryce!
  1:10pm
Chris:

I will donate for bryce's show only if the swag includes a cat. Can you make it happen? At wahat level would I have to pledge?
  1:10pm
Jed:

  1:11pm
Julius:

Is this stuff legal?
  1:11pm
annie:

chris, the sunny windowsill level
  1:12pm
Matt:

Thanks for the info, Bryce. My roommate has 4 cats if you would like to comply with your listeners' request.
  1:15pm
numbatwombat:

julius - it is for now but i hear people around the country are stocking up on xxth century modernism in advance of the coming raids. forewarned is forearmed.
  1:19pm
Ike:

Chris, where are you located? I have one extra cat. Doesn't get along with the smaller cat. I can put a WFMU sticker on him. He wouldn't mind. Also, he gallops.
  1:23pm

Sorry, I meant a dead* cat.

The sound of static ...
  1:29pm
Chris:

B-sides, I can barley feed, bathe and clean my own waste, never mind having a animal to deal with
  1:29pm
annie:

ike, you could give it to your ante.
  1:30pm
bryce:

ahhhhhhh......pink pink static.................
  1:31pm

tone float organization, groovy album cover...

BSI:

The grackles are tormenting the dog. Life is great.
  1:34pm
jeff-m:

enjoying it as always Bryce. cheers sir
  1:35pm
numbatwombat:

bryce - thanks for playing this!
  1:36pm
numbatwombat:

when they hit the bell i feel like i am a dog forced to work at a hotel desk who is suddenly really really hungry. maybe i should eat lunch.
  1:38pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

yeah, I can't believe this has never been reissued (at least per wiki). Needs to be heard more widely.
  1:38pm
Ike:

Great sounds! This and Vaggione are my faves so far today.

Annie, he has temporarily hypnotized me into keeping him around, despite causing the occasional hissing, screeching, caterwauling, growling, yowling, squawking, and near-groaning from the other cat. She was there first and she'd like her (my) bed back. She's been forced to temporarily cede that ground.
  1:40pm
north guinea hills:

it reminds me of a pocket calculator.
  1:40pm
Hugo:

This piece reminds me somehow of Pink Floyd's "A Saucerful of Secrets". Must be the organ and the drums.
  1:40pm
bryce:

dce—
believe it or not, they (kraftwerk) dont WANT it reissued!! EVER. this, kraftwerk 1, kraftwerk 2, and ralph und florian.

post-psychedelic revisionism. too bad, i think considering where they came from, makes kraftwerk even more brilliant.
  1:42pm
BSI:

DCE/Bryce: If mine is a bootleg it's a lovingly produced bootleg. Very nearly convincing as a reissue CD
  1:43pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

krautbastards. And Hugo I definitely heard the same thing there a few minutes ago. Sign of the times (LSD, anyone?)
  1:43pm
annie:

bummer. i dig ya about the feline heirarchy (sp?) thing. back when i still had six cats, there was definitely a pecking order.. grace was the head honcho and dorian was the king; the rest being mere underlings and fodder for the random claw-swipe.
  1:43pm
jeff-m:

yeah there was a short organ section that reminded me of Interstellar Overdrive too.

thats odd. At least the bootlegs are pretty widely available
  1:44pm
Jed:

still and all I like to see rhinos fuck
  1:45pm
north guinea hills:

i thought this (tone float organization) got reissued on vinyl in the late 90's (hence where i got my copy).
  1:45pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

imagine the volume of rhinojizz
  1:46pm
north guinea hills:

same goes w/ my vinyl copy of kraftwerk 1
  1:47pm
Jed:

I read recently in Scientific America that minnows can blow blue whales. BLUE WHALE COCK.
  1:47pm
James B.:

Dammit, Bryce. Can;'t you just play something awful for a minute so I can get something to eat?
  1:48pm
Hugo:

This is actually quite good.

Can be downloaded from here:

http://orexisofdeath.blogspot.com/2008/08/organisation-pre-kraftwerk-tone-float.html

which is what I'm doing right now.
  1:48pm
TC:

Thanks Hugo!
  1:49pm
jeff-m:

Blue Whale Cock Fact #239

-they have a 6 foot bone inside to support it-
  1:50pm
Jed:

Bryce, when you do the station ID, will you please send out a shout to all the brothers and sisters who helped blow that beached whale last summer in Norway.
  1:51pm
Leech:

yeah, Jed is right, we all worked ourselves to the bone that day
  1:51pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

thx much Hugo!

and a "SIX FOOT BONE". Jeezus. Universe musta been laughing the day that evolved.
  1:52pm
BSI:

...and still no love for the narwhal...
  1:52pm
Jed:

that means whale pussy is like, really Johnny Depp
  1:53pm
Cecile:

The B-52s loved the narwhal. It made a big cameo in Rock Lobster
  1:54pm
TC:

I fear the Great Sky Narwhal after the past week, believe me. In a big way.
  1:55pm
esch oder anarchie!:

This cosmic jokers is heavy good stuff.
  1:55pm
jeff-m:

this cosmic jokers is beautiful btw.
  1:56pm
numbatwombat:

i am still hoping for an all-star cast network tv miniseries about the brave narwhal defense of atlantis against the army of nazi u-boats hungry for arcane knowledge.
  1:56pm
Jed:

this cosmic jokers is EGGSALLENT btw
  1:58pm
jk:

just got my premium in the mail, thanks BRYCE!
  1:58pm
minty badger:

really enjoying this in london rite now - keep up the good work!
  1:58pm
jeff-m:

EGG SALAD*

* sorry old private joke between me and my friend
  1:59pm
numbatwombat:

any record or similar object that says anywhere on it "produced by conny plank" in deutsch or otherwise is a good candidate for permanent stereo residency.
  1:59pm
Cecile:

If the sexy bearded Aquaman with a hook for a hand is in it, I'll be glued to the set!
  1:59pm
perrin:

according to wikipedia, these recordings are illegal! way to go bryce!
  2:00pm
numbatwombat:

aquaman lost his hand to brainwashed nazi sharks. now it is payback time.
  2:01pm
bryce:

eat it, the man!
  2:02pm
Cecile:

sharks with lasers on their heads!
  2:03pm
numbatwombat:

i think holger czukay should play aquaman because of the can-trident-thing and general aquaeous nature. if it is made by kosmische germans, everyone would have lasers on their heads!
  2:04pm
Cecile:

Is he hot with a beard? If he's not hot, then no.
  2:06pm
numbatwombat:

why aren't there official trident-shaped official can can openers? that would be so cool. as to the hotness of holger czukay i would say defintely yes and even more so with a beard.
  2:07pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I would love a Can can-opener, but I'm not sure the trident is the most effective method for opening cans.
  2:08pm
BSI:

TImothy Leary and Klaus Schulze return from Monster Island to smash the nazi laser sharks, then settle down to a bit of a mad jam...
  2:11pm
numbatwombat:

dom's edge of time is seriously one of the most deranged black-hole-pupil discs to ever cross my path. it is the kind of album that is so heavy in psychic awesomeness that i almost hesistate to throw it on sometimes and then am like "what the hell!" an all-time classic.
  2:15pm
BSI:

it is indeed vortexy in here, no?
  2:17pm
still b/p:

You can vortext somebody on these newfangled phones.

numbatwombat:

KLAUS in der HAUS! dude! he's like the mo tucker of krautrock! (i am sure my gernglais is off)
  2:34pm
Jed:

Time for pizza, then coffee. Then I'm turning on the carbon dioxide fan.
  2:37pm
Carmichael:

Belated hello Bryce and everyone. Just tuning in ...
  2:39pm
Chris:

Bryce should be doing drivetime radio for desolate areas in the Southwest.
  2:44pm
annie:

ok, fine... dessert is ready to cook.. wine is poured.. anyone want a live-in cook?
  2:44pm
Carmichael:

Shit, he might turn into Chris in the Morning if the place is desolate enough.

I suggest border radio, maybe Nogales or Nuevo Laredo.
  2:44pm
numbatwombat:

chris - of course! but only if this zweistein song can be his lead-in every day.
  2:45pm
Carmichael:

And I thought this was Syd Barrett till I read the playlist.
  2:46pm
numbatwombat:

syd was clearly a formative ingredient.
  2:49pm
numbatwombat:

there must have been some sort of bird union which contracted with pastoral psych groups in the early seventies. all of your weight in hemp seed six times a day.
  2:52pm
Chris:

US 60 outside Soccoro...imagine passing the Very Large Array on yr way home from work everyday and hearing this stuff.
  2:53pm
Hugo:

I think the best one to do Syd (apart from Syd) is Robin Hitchcock. He's done some remarkable tribute concerts.
  2:54pm
numbatwombat:

krautrock is the ultimate music for open highway, big sky, alien contact
  2:54pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Hitchcock and then Jennifer Gentle!
  2:55pm
Carmichael:

Floyd's San Tropez would work well here.
  2:55pm
Hugo:

Autobahn?
  2:56pm
numbatwombat:

see how cute holger is!

  2:59pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

thanks for hosting, I had a great time. Let's do it again.
  3:00pm
Carmichael:

Thanks for the strangeness Bryce!!
  3:01pm
still b/p:

Czukay in pic looks like love child of Lou Jacobi and comedian Gallagher.
  3:14pm
bryce:

see ya, all!
  5:17pm
m p:

bryce, this is late and you'll never read it, but maybe psychically you'll understand that you do not need to email me back because i now understand about playlists and 2009 premiums. which i like. and so do both our cats. and you can't have them for your 2010 premium but reta (the black one) can make really great paper sculptures that could go with your premium, if you are interested. pidgin (the mottled gray/lavender one) just watches her create though they are sisters and there is probably some communication going on between them, so who is to say that the sculptures are not collaborations?
