  12:06pm
BSI:

I don't think the sheep survived the jump back there...
  12:21pm
annie:

  12:25pm
Cecile:

  12:35pm
stingy d:

BUD HEAVY TIME!!!!!!
  12:35pm
Cecile:

Don't be disappointed, snow is unpredictable.
You could get a whole lot tonight.
  12:38pm
jojo:

coincidence that it started snowing again once ken's show was over, or god sticking it to the man?
  12:41pm
BSI:

LOACHFILLET!
  12:53pm
LizGig:

Lovely as usual, Maria. Some Big Eyes Family Players might fit nicely into this set.
  12:55pm
annie:

wonderful; on my first glass of wine and the custard is in the oven. yumm
  12:57pm
maria:

anniie--sounds like the perfect thing to be doing on a snowy day
  1:03pm
BSI:

the "fillet" vs "fill-ay" question reminds me of this classic:
Q: Is Donovan his real name?
A: Is Donovan who's real name?
  1:04pm
annie:

yup, weekly potluck and i'm bringing dessert. this time using leftover vanilla yogurt, milk, eggs and a nice crust made with flour granola graham crackers and butter. all locally sourced except for the graham crackers! woohoo!
  1:05pm
Cecile:

aw, yeah, Citay.

Could you play 6 Organs' "Jade Like Wine"?

I like to think it's about Annie's absinthe.
  1:06pm
annie:

cecile, have you ordered a bottle yet? this stuff is da bomb!
  1:09pm
Cecile:

I am going to do it in March or April sometime.
I'm dying to try it.
Then again, it will take 3-5 weeks to get to me, right?
  1:11pm
Cecile:

Citay is like the golden retriever of indie - a little goofy, a little overly friendly but ultimately irresistable.
  1:11pm
maria:

you got it babe
  1:13pm
BSI:

good call on the six organs. Brilliant set for mag design at home while the office crumbles under snow & there's still english brown ale in the fridge and a big boxer snoring at my feet...
  1:13pm
annie:

cecile, call catskill cellars, they ship right away.. i think.. i'll send you the info. right around the corner from me.
  1:15pm
Cecile:

I found their website. Next payday!

Thanks for the request!
  1:18pm
Bad Ronald:

Newcastles?
  1:22pm
BSI:

Bad Ronald: No Newcastles here, much better: Just discovered Black Sheep's Riggwelter. It's like paradise in a pint glass for a day like this.

  1:48pm
annie:

all i know is that pennsylvania is getting slammed with snow and this thing seems to be turning in to the nor-easter that was predicted.
  1:50pm
Cecile:

which is strangely appropriate
  1:53pm
BSI:

DC will be happy to see the back of this thing.
  1:55pm
chichilos:

  1:56pm
Cecile:

WIMME! I got to see him do this twice a couple of times. Got any Hedningarna around there?
  1:56pm
BSI:

nice, I thought I was the only one who got those Nordic Roots comps years ago. Some groovy stuff therein.
  1:58pm
Cecile:

I was fortunate enough to see a couple of nights of the various Nordic Roots festivals. Huge deal here in Minneapolis, natch.
  2:00pm
Cecile:

Nice! Takes me back, gulp, ten years ago!
  2:07pm
BSI:

was living in Tucson when that series came out, which made the music even more otherworldly. Hedningarna, Annabjorg Lien (sp?), alla that. Much good.
  2:08pm
Jackie:

Those Ukrainians are badass!
  2:09pm
Cecile:

and of course, Tapani Varis, the Jimi Hendrix of the mouth harp!
  2:10pm
chichilos:

ha ha! i know this
  2:11pm
drewo:

Thanks Maria for the great music. Am snowbound in midtown Manhattan office building. Taking tip from Ken, I am eyeing my few remaining co-workers to see who might be most toothsome to my taste.
  2:15pm
Cecile:

It's pronounced:

VIM-meh
  2:16pm
Cecile:

Finnish is easy to pronounce:
It's pronounded BAH-bah-bah-bah. Punch that first syllable.
  2:16pm
slugluv1313:

hi Maria! LOVING the SNOWY music!!!
  2:18pm
Cecile:

He's a indigineous Laplander (Sami) who lives in Finland. He's a joijker or mystic throat singer.

I wrote a lot on Nordic Roots 12 years ago.
  2:18pm
slugluv1313:

ah!!! from what i recall -- Finnish is like the *only* language that is even REMOTELY "related"/similar to . . . HUNGARIAN!!!
  2:20pm
Cecile:

yes, this is true.
I've learned you pronounce Finnish and Japanese similarly too, punch that first SYL-la-ble!
  2:20pm
annie:

wow, what a great image of this dancing i have in my head!!
  2:25pm
slugluv1313:

yup! when i was learning Hungarian (which i found even MORE complex than Sanskrit!) -- from what i recall, unless otherwise indicated, emphasis is also on the first syllable!
  2:29pm
Cecile:

Okay, this is the kind of music they used to play when they would air Finland Calling in the UP of Michigan. You'd see footage of spring in Helsinki and music and hear this music. And not understand a damn thing they were saying.
  2:34pm
Cecile:

Oh, my God.
Croatian music. I know about this too, in spite of myself...
  2:37pm
Cecile:

Disko Partizani by Shantel samples this record!
  2:39pm
C:

  2:41pm

  2:44pm

  2:48pm
C:

  2:55pm
